Why go through the effort of replacing the pad ? Why not just jumper it? I imagine after the recovery this becomes a donor for the next job so why fix it so completely ?

What soldering tips are you using in this video (and in general)? Great work
When you use the brush on the traces you should brush in parallel with the damaged trace, not perpendicular on it, as you may rip it off.

I guess the bridged pins on the controller were ground? I kept watching for you to clear it but you never did and it stilled worked.
