  • Come take a journey with us as we tell our story and history with Palo Santo. This is Chapter 2 of The Sacred Collectors series...
*You can watch chapter 1 here - • The Sacred Wood Collec...
Eleven years ago I traveled to Ecuador to meet my source for Palo Santo wood and it's essential oil. My curiosity brought me to another world where I was able to see the tree in its natural environment.
I also wanted to make sure that the forests were not being destroyed to acquire this sacred wood and that the people working were not being exploited. This was very important to me before officially starting my business Sacred Wood Essence which would sell both the sticks and essential oils.
To my surprise I found out that the tree is never cut down and you have to collect naturally dead or fallen wood on the ground for it to have that special odor.
The local people were so happy, warm, fun and become instant family to me. I have since been back 7 times to connect deeper with the land and culture...
A huge thank you to the families collecting, processing, cutting and delivering this precious wood to us so that we enjoy it's many benefits. Without them it would not be possible to have Palo Santo in our lives...

Do the proceeds from the Sacred Wood Essence online store go directly to Ecuadorians?

We are not a non-profit. We are a regular business, we have overhead, pay taxes and have employees. We buy direct from a company in Ecuador who employees over 30 locals and source wood from independent collectors. They also fund reforestation projects
