The video said about hair. What would you recomend: On one of first parties when I begane in my job (bunch of people birthday party - including mine), one of coworkers come around and took my then longer hairs with force. I noticed despite them trying to get me liquid influenced (but I took only a sip and get rid of the rest). I said HEY, because it hurt and never experienced something like that. but she walked fastly around the table to other 2 female coworkers, while I was pushed back to the seat(2 seat down from my original position - on the way for my hair) by shoulders by 4 female coworker who started to argue with me: Be at ease, they only want to play. It will be harmless. My sight went hazy a when I turned around they already wowed ring (do not know if promising or marriage) on my hair and started to spun it over candle fire. My sight went black and when I come to, I was still in same seat with them asking me, while they threw occasional glances on one another while this transpired: Are you all right? Fine. How do you feel? Ask our new coworker something. No ask it to do something. Do you know any witchcraft? Me blinking: Witchcraft? I do not know what do you mean? Them: Something you done like tarots or mirrors or wgbord or something. Me: I never done something like that. Them: Nothing, anything? I do not believe you did not do or heard of something. Me: I heard…. One of them: Tell us! And despite my reluctance I told them one of my aunt could prophesy how many children woman would have depending on some skin lines…… then next thing I remember someone took me by car home and standing at apartment entrance out- doors thinking I cannot somehow feel my foot fingers.
My skin and allergy issues started less than month later and I have them to this day, just more and more severe. My relationship started to fail, my money could not accumulate despite me not spending much, I stopped dreaming at night only few nightmares per year, I started to have just incredible headaches…
Year later 2 women of group were suddenly married and pregnant, while I ended on surgical table in one years eve of party, with laparoscopy. Docs were unable to find what made me so sick, even after they opened me up.
After unsuccessful operation one of them from hair incident- my dep.supervisor - ordered me to come to work or they will fire me…I went only to find my workplace had water leakage and is shut down for 3 days. Meanwhile I was ordered to cut this hardened cardboard with not healed wounds after op. for hours in another building….that is not and never was in any part of my teacher work description….such a scenes went for years, them making me their slaive and my health getting worse. And whenever I get the grip and ask what started it, hair scene comes back. Can your institute give me some advice? (Even writing this started my headache anew, if you have some advice, please share. Thank you.)

May your hands be cleansed, that they create beautiful things.
May your feet be cleansed, that they might take you where you most need to be.
May your heart be cleansed, that you might hear its messages clearly.
May your throat be cleansed, that you might speak rightly when words are needed.
May your eyes be cleansed, that you might see the signs and wonders of the world.
May this person and space be washed clean by the smoke of these fragrant plants.
And may that same smoke carry our prayers, spiraling, to the heavens.

I love that you said "there is no wrong way to smudge". That resonates with me so deeply. If you are smudging, your intention is to improve a space or a thing .. the intention is good and present and i feel that's important, more so than "how" you go about it. Thank you.

Very good message we can all follow... it's not the act or just going through the motions... but about the intentions and sincerity of the heart...
It can apply to anything in life, especially religion. like one who merely goes to church...
A chanting of a generic prayer...
Calling yourself such and such, but never walking the path of that belief...

The younger generation are seekers and discontent with the world that the elders have left them. They are lost because their elders from the West are lost. Postmodernism and the "take what you want and leave the rest" guide to spirituality is the practice that I see most often. Loving devotional service to our Creator and others, and obedience, is the nectar of instruction. I speak this as a Mexican with indigenous ancestors that practices a religion from India called Krishna Consciousness.

Thank you! I learned much that I didn't realize, here.
When I worked in a hospital, medicine people coming in to tend Native patients would boil sage and smudge with the steam. This is useful to know if you have a loved one on an oxygen tank or otherwise unable to be near anything burning.
My tribe also uses mesquite and copal (copal only for honoring the dead and the ancestors) and another tribe I know uses a certain kind of tree-root, but won't say which one for fear that people outside the tribe would uproot all of those trees and cause their extinction. A medicine-man told me that if you can get nothing else, you can smudge with corn. That can also come in handy.

  • @rdeshane8041
    @rdeshane8041 Рік тому +20

Miigwech. This is very accurate. I also used an abalone shell bowl, and eagle feather. I mainly used sweet grass (for healing) and white sage (for spirits). Tobacco I've used at Native American funerals (an offering in respect of the dead). Smudging can be used for more than self protection. I used this method mainly for removing things that I knew were only spirits, (meaning an entity that had once been alive), as like with house blessings, it can sometimes make matters worse with demons. Demons usually require more powerful methods. Smudging is also great for balancing the energy in an area. It's absolutely worth learning.

You are part of the original earth people, and I have the utmost respect for every first nations human. I was very blessed to be invited to the Navajo Nation reservation in Arizona. It was centered around a family ceremony, and it was the most powerful experience in my life. I broke bread with the family, learned what the young people were bringing back to the Nation from college, to better the community. While I didn't understand the words of the prayer as the sun went down, I felt it in my heart and soul. I met most of the elders that were there, and they were all so kind; some even gave me a hug or shook my hand. I didn't sleep over, although invited, because I felt like I was imposing on the family gathering. I will never forget that experience as long as I live.

Smudging ones' own senses is profound! I never thought of that. And your breath from which you will speak. Again, profound! I have only been smudging a few years since I became spiritual, smudging my home and the four directions. Thank you for sharing your wisdom regarding smudging. I will soon be receiving my turkey feather with which I shall begin smudging in a more traditional manner. Peace, bro.

Thank you so much for sharing, I can not tell you in words how much I appreciate you taking the time. So much can be learned by practicing the Native ways. When I stood in the circle I found the path of spiritual balance and inner peace. Some people say “ you know your not Native American right? “ …

I am a white girl from England
      Emigrated here to Colorado 2004
I found my Native roots here
I went to Standing Rock to protect the water
      I remembered past lives
      I might look white
But I have an indigenous native soul, and proud of it
      I remember

Thank you so much for passing your wisdom on to others.
I've been searching for a source to learn about smudging that feels true to me.
My great great grandmother was Indigenous from Oklahoma, and I'm so grateful for having known her daughter. She lived with my grandmother, and I visited them often.
I brushed her beautiful long hair at night, and shared a bed when I stayed overnight.
She and my grandmother had beautiful loving souls.
My ancestors were Indigenous, Scottish and Irish from Oklahoma and Texas on my mother's side, and French in Louisiana on my father's.
I have love, respect, and a thirst for knowledge about all cultures.
Having been raised Catholic, it did not feel true to me, so I chose a more spiritual path at a young age.
Thank you for teaching about smudging.
I'm looking forward to contimue on my path, my quest to connect with the Creator, and my ancestors.

Chi Miigwetch to our elder Cecil for patiently putting on this demonstration. It's is a fact that when one isn't fully confident on how things are done, that they tend to "go inside themselves" or take a backseat, meanwhile they all can be encouraged and inspired to practice our traditions in their ways and the ways of their people.

I thank this Native American Indian for bringing this lesson to me/us about how to spiritually clean in their way. Such gentility, humility, with wisdom, thank you dear friend from a wet England.

I'm starting to learn that true beauty can't be seen with the eye. It has to be experienced by the Spirit, and felt in the heart.
    Learning your ways is humbling.
I never realized that life is made of such small intricate things.
I really do believe that we can heal the minds and hearts of Humanity.
Respect love and appreciation for everything is a lot to learn!
I believe that this is why all of us are here.
    Love and peace to all.
