A very relaxing, and efficient session, Marq. The more I see that Spiffo, the more I like it. Today's lather was rich, creamy, and with billowy peaks. That soap impresses me as to it ease of lathering. You didn't have to douse it with gulps of water, and the slickness was enough to buff! It behaves the way I expect an artisan produced product should. But I concur that the tub size is not very conducive to loading directly from the puck. I would have to scoop some into my Maria Arman lather bowl to whip it up. I still don't own a Karve. The entire practice of having to buy plates because the razor doesn't ship with a mild, regular, and heavy seems excessive in expenditure for a bronze razor. At any rate, your shave was outstanding! Your skin was left irritation free, and conditioned. I'm a Bay Rum fanatic! I haven't tried one that can compete with the strong, traditional, Bay Rum scent like Taconic Shave's glycerin puck. I am pleased to have found an artisan that went the route of working the formula rather than adding all kind of ingredients that would suit my plate better... it is a soap that is really easy to work with, it creates a good looking lather that performs very well.the container is not the best, the scent is not going to finish as an EDT but is is really pleasurable shave and the price is perfect. The Spiffo brush, well, you see it being used and I can't fake it. Now, be aware I am friend with spiffo and I could be biased toward his brushes but this particular brush is my #1 of all. To my knowledge, he never used this knot again in a brush. He totally should. I love horse hair brushes but this knot has it all. Feels like horse hair, makes great lather and it doesn't get tangled up like real horse hair. Next time I go back home, I will have to pester him to use this knot again... The Karve razor is such a different beast. In the early days, I used to compare it to the Rockwell 6S. Today, I just cant. Two totally different razors IMHO. I used to have from plate A to F and 2 handles. I gave the low plates to my dad and kept the high plates for myself. Lots of money put in there. You got to realize, the Karve is made in a machine shop that machine other things. My feeling is that they are making the razors in the down times but soon, he will have to include it in the shop schedule. But you are right, it would be nice to have a set as Rockwell that is value priced. Have a great week Alex!
Hey Jill! It is a really nice looking lather. I like lathers that produce volume therefore, this one got my attention right away. The shave was very nice, very comfortable. The price is reasonable and they got free shipping in the US (that was pretty smart from a small artisan to sell thru a retailer that can offer that)
Thanks! I am impressed by the quality of the soaps the new artisans are producing now a day. And don't forget, my goal on this channel, is to give a platform to newer artisans. The more there is, the more choices we have. But still, this soap is really nice, not really expensive and you get free shipping in the states. Myself, this soap is probably the one I have been using the most since the summer and I only got it in September. My last day was somewhat bitter sweet. I am going into a position that is more in line with the last few positions I had before so, easier in a way but the position I am leaving was something new to me so it was a really nice change and learning experience at the same time. The added bonus, it was right downtown Ottawa, and I have to admit, it is more vibrant than Halifax.... but not by much...

Thanks! The F plate is my daily driver. Quite comfortable for the level of efficiency with it. You also have to make sure the soap gives you good protection with it. In the beginning, I had to alternate between E and F to give my skin the time to get used to the F plate. Now with the open comb, I am on the fence. I would love to have them too but as a daily shaver, I won't really get a lot of benefits from them. I will see later in the spring...
Hi Marc! Another quality soap. Since the autumn (2018), I'm struggling to think of a soap you've used and which was less than excellent. Out of curiosity, would you consider the water in your locality as soft? Bayrum scent by Clnl Conk, probably one of my favourite bayrum scents. So I think I will also like the scent of this great soap. If this is your last work day there, then will you be uploading videos from your home bathroom -- where you first started this channel? Except if you've been uploading videos from home? Apologies! Ignore me, I'm probably very confused! This is a well priced soap to consider having it shipped to the UK. Maybe have this soap delivered here when my wife is away visiting my mother-in-law :) I can smuggle the soap "incognito" :)) Cheers!
Hey K! As for only showing solid performers, you guys don't see the "duds" I have in my cabinets. I am very selective when it comes to show soaps. If you look at last week, the lather wasn't exactly what I like but, the post shave is the best I had in a very long time... I probably could show the less stellar performers but it doesn't fit my idea. I prefer show you the top performers than squeeze in something that is unknown but equally awesome. My goal is to show people there is great gems in the wild, you just need to try them. But you also have a lots of duds in there. I just try to do some of the leg work for you guys. If you are looking at this soap, the barbershop that is a citrus type (bergamot forward might be of interest...) The water here in Gatineau is considered really soft. It does help with building really nice lather but it has the effect of reducing the glide also (this is something I noticed but I could be entirely off the track on that statement). As I don't plan in moving where there is hard water, my theory might never be confirmed... As for my work, well, I am not going back to Halifax just yet. I am moving from capital project (I was dealing with trials on new military equipment) to HQ where I will mostly move people around, deal with loading them on courses and promoting them. It is all being done here in Ottawa. Therefore, we are staying in my swanky shave den😂😂
