- We are 1 win away from taking the #1 rank on the global leaderboards. I am exhausted (emotionally/physically) since I've been playing for well over 7 hours. This will be my 11th game of the final day, but it gets better... DyLighted will also be playing in this game against me as blue. We got matched up in the final moments and I had no clue until after the game. This is it! I don't have enough time to take a loss and play 2 more games. Win now or accept defeat. Let's do this!

Damn taking down Dylan for the #1 spot must have been very satisfying after that long grind. This series was absolutely epic, I thoroughly enjoyed watching every single game, and I hope I managed to learn some stuff that will improve my gameplay as well.

Wow, what an exciting finish to the series!
The really pivotal moment in this game happened around 6:20, when you traded away your brick in order to help black cut off blue, who was in clear first. You mentioned that you were surprised, and I think you meant you were surprised that blue left that option open. That's where Dylighted made a slight misplay that ended up costing him the match--of course the wood port is better for him than the 3:1 port, but he should have recognized that he was winning, and other players might team up to try to take down one of his ports.
I also thought you did a really great job of continuing to trade late in the game, while making it clear to your opponents why the trades actually helped them--namely the trades helped you to defend army, which would give your opponents who weren't trying to take army a chance to win. This seems to be the key to successful table-talk, which I certainly haven't mastered--figure out which of your opponents is the most threatening, and propose trades with your other 2 opponents to help you overtake them without making those opponents too scared that you are about to win the game.
Glad you enjoyed it. I had a blast playing and grinding this series. At the highest levels of catan, there is a certain respect for balance and keeping everyone in the game. The best games are where everyone works together to bring the board up and then it gets sweaty and nail biting to the very last roll. Trade balancing is the beautiful mechanism\ that helps catan be a competitive and engaging game.

Already posted one thought but I have another. I may be a very small minority in this, but I'd love to see you get rank 1 in the 1v1 space too. Nobody really goes into that arena. It'd be interesting for you to talk about how radically different strategy is in that setting. Those games get crazy quickly from my experience!
We will see about 1v1. If there is enough interest in it, I will consider it. I’ve played a little bit and consider myself good but not great at it. I do agree that the meta is a bit different and requires a different perspective to help you be successful. Only time will tell. - DD

Dandy! Got recommended your videos from video 2 and been watching them all! This series was absolutely fantastic.
One question I have for you is what is your opinion of Cities and Knights vs base game? Personally I much prefer cities and knights I think there are a lot more playstyles and options of things to do. But that is playing the actual board game. When grinding ranked I could see why the simple base game could be preferred.

FYI I don’t even think that last screenshot of the leaderboard is as good as what you can see now. Because that screenshot shows 49 minutes left in the season. Theoretically you could have lost #1 in those 49 minutes. But your profile shows that you *ended* the season as #1.

min 12:58 - why did you block the 6 wheat and not the 8 wood considering that he has the wood port ?
Howdy Carla! Good question. In most cases, the 8 wood is one of the best blocks on this board, BUT given that the 9 ore had just rolled for both blue and black, the 6 wheat is a good way to kill blue dropping another city or buying development cards. Plus the ability to block all 3 players is a nice benefit.
