What is life if we can't stand and stare, To watch your films to which there is no compare, A valley of beauty with flowers and trees so green, A river meandering in lost places we have seen, The soulful woods and natures treasures you seek, But none of which you selfishly keep, For you share these wonders in splended fashion, And treat the world and folk with such compassion, We owe you a great deal Wiltshire Man, And although you'd say it's because you can, We all know the dedication and commitment with touching care, It's simply a joy to sit and stare
It doesn’t matter where you go near where you live and even further out, it’s beautiful and has lots of history. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks for the effort and thanks for sharing. Tony.
Our wonderful and beautiful ‘Ridgeway’ where moods and scenery change day by day. Oh Sandy your awesome camera work I found once again as I start my morning here in NZ, Viewing that most gentle area of hamlets, villages hedgerows and majestic rolling downs is where part of my heart will be forever. I will be 76 in October and would need a magic carpet to take me back for one last visit or a rocket up my a-- hehehe. Growing up and in my youth I spent many happy times in and around this very special area so very many thanks for your work.....Cheers Robert
Absolutely beautiful scenery sandy, harvest time always reminds me autumn is on the way rapidly. How quick the seasons seem to change now, nights are drawing in again and I don’t feel like we have had much summer 😢. Love to all the family carmen and zeta ❤❤❤❤
The title of your blogs certainly lives up to its name…. Thank you, I travel the Yorkshire Wolds in much the same manner, it too has many hidden gems if care to look..travel off the pathless travelled…like ridge way it has a road called Woldgate..
We took a vintage VW transporter to Uffington on Tuesday. We are regulars to the White Horse pub at Woolstone. Love that area! Great cycle ride, well done Sandy 👍👉💎
H Sandy. Happy Wednesday. Plenty to look at in that vid. Maybe didn't go to plan - but had a different feel to it than you usual vid - and none the worse for that. Some new places you visited - I've started recognising some of the location from previous vids - but not those. And it got you out - the weather wasn't too miserable for that. Shame on the rest of us . . . 73
A beautiful ride. The countryside is amazing round there. We live in such a lovely area. Shame about the wind. Still, it's an excuse to get out again when it's less windy. X
Hi Sandy, beautiful scenery 🌳, love those thatched roofs 🛖 , I was out last week on my bike, and I was quite proud of myself for doing 4 miles 😂 🚵♀️ , not as many as you, though. Love the memorial of "Peter Wren"💧. Shame you couldn't fly your drone 😢 fabulous video, Sandy. ❤
‘Leisure’ is such a beautiful poem and I often think of those lines myself ❤ Sometimes I think our modern lives are just so busy and a hundred years ago must have been so much slower but I guess even in 1911 life felt hurried and too busy sometimes. So perhaps not so much has really changed??
A nice bike ride in our wonderful green and pleasant land Sandy, a bonus seeing our English flag flying, rightfully, outside that Saxon church. All the best to you and your family mate.
Just been up Cherhill Monument and it was not particularly what you’d expect in August. My six week holiday is coming to an end. Camping tonight and next few days. All this is down to being inspired by your adventures! Thanks, Sandy 👍
Another enjoyable video Sandy. I discovered your brilliant channel fairly recently and have been slowly catching up on your films, my particular favourites are your cycling trips as I enjoy the slower pace and seeing Wiltshire’s beautiful scenery. My Grandma was originally from Westbury, and I still have family in the area, so it’s nice to visit Wiltshire, albeit virtually!😊
Love your videos Sandy. Excellent footage. Just to correct one thing you said. Queen Elizabeth 2 died in september 2022 not in 2021 as you said when sat on the bench. The years all seem to blend together time moves so fast. Lovely that you recited the poem Leisure by Willian Henry Davies whilst showing lovely British landscape. Just a point you can film something a view or building etc and give a commentary to camera on what you are filming without always having you in shot. We know how handsome you are. I felt this a few times. Just a thought. But I still do love your videos. Crikey the wind was strong today. I was out on my bike in the Fens riding to Cambridge and was pretty much down to walking pace on the ride out as it was full in my face. Hard going. Who needs hills when you have a relentless Fen wind. The return journey was better. Had a lovely strong tailwind for the second half of the ride taking me home. 60 miles in total. My legs are on fire now. Tomorrow friday morning 23rd August, big winds as a storm tracks across the UK from the Atlantic. ATB.
It's a habit I have got into Alex, the gopro's especially only pick up audio well if you are infront of them, stand to the side or rear and the audio sounds muffled
Nice to see you back on the Ridgeway one of your happy places I think. I have watched a number of your great videos there with walking friends great times, thanks for sharing Sandy 👏 👋
Another gorgeous video from you Sandy. I visited a few years ago, parked in Uffington, walked onto the Rideway, along to Wayland Smithy then down to Compton Beucamp, Woolston and back. We picked the moist amazing blackberries near Woolston, then made homage blackberry and apply pie when we got back… I must revisit.
This video is awesome...Nice leisurely ride along our beautiful English countryside. The harvesters out doing their thing with a very narrow margin that they usually have ro get grain, hay and straw in before it rains. A manic time for our agricultural farmers. And the rain started here two days ago and is due to carry on until Monday here in the SE corner...hope the fields were harvested before it started here...the winds are right up and no drone flying here for the next few days or so. Glad you got out to capture some great footage...I love leisurely rides now I'm older. And thank you Peter Wren for the water stop! Im always diving in to graveyards to reach a water supply, put there so people can water flowers left
I’m in Jersey at the moment visiting. The wind has been very gusty down here too. In fact very blowy across the headlands. It’s always a pleasure to see the open English countryside. Cheers Sandy
Another lovely video Sandy, have to say I do like it when you are out and about by bike, and not your motor bike, I'm anti pollution as far as its possible in this age; not that your trips by motor bike are any less interesting, as others have commented its great the detail about what you see and what you show and describe to us
N̈ice to see you back on your bike nice views good video looking abit cloudy and windy but nice and abit of history very good stay safe and stay healthy one life enjoy blessed be
Cracking video Sandy, good to see you out and about bud. As for the wind, you know that for the best made plans the weather will have its say in the UK !. Still future plans being made is a good thing to spend time on . Look forward to seeing what they come to 👍 Regards Moose
Hi Peter, yes we have been quite unwell actually but despite the illness I was still able to cycle 100 miles each week, I'm still not 100% yet but getting there
The wind can cause a lot of trouble that you never notice inside a car. Still a beautiful area to enjoy in all the stages of weather. Nature is my best medicine.
Shame about the wind, Sandy. I camped up near Hereford on Monday and Tuesday this week, and my tent took-off whilst I was pitching it. Lesson learned - should have had the pegs to-hand!
Another great video Sandy. Pity about the wind. Gale force winds and rain are causing havoc with my flying this Summer too. Living up north I’m used to flying in strong winds, but it’s nearly Autumn already and all but one of my longer flying trips have had to be called off due to weather so far 😢.
You managed to get out in that beautiful English countryside and have a great day for yourself Sandy. The wind is awful for flying your drone in but it doesn't exactly make riding a bike any easier either. Heavy breezes aren't going to slow a good man like you down though, you just hopped on and took off in spite of the conditions. Your efforts turned out amazing and you were able to provide us a very entertaining and enjoyable experience through your video. Thank you very much sir. I will see you on the next one.
An enjoyable video as always. Shame the high winds kept the drone down. There is a Devils Punch Bowl not that far from me as well. Look forward to watching your overnight camp if it goes ahead. Thanks again.
I found online about Peter Wren, he apparently was knocked off his bike one Christmas Eve in 1978 on the way to read at a midnight service, hit first by one car that toppled him, and sadly killed outright by a second car. I wonder if he had lights on his bike? Nowadays he could wear a cycle helmet. Very poignant that.
At least you got one in for yourself, Sandy. A nice recon mission for future times. You must have had your Wheatabix this morning to get up that hill. Cheers
I enjoy your trips and adventures very much I hope to someday visit England. I was wondering if you fly your ultralight plane anymore? You were talking about flying the drone it made me think back to when you flew the motorized hang glider
Afternoon sandy mate hope you and all the family are well and okay, nice video mate how is the garden doing this year for you hopefully plenty of good crops,, I have not been on the radio for a while so hopefully your keeping the morse code going well take care of yourself mate
Hi John I have a Morse sked weekly 3.538 around 19:30 local, listen in and join us. Garden was a waste of time this year, slugs snails and birds did their best.
What is life if we can't stand and stare,
To watch your films to which there is no compare,
A valley of beauty with flowers and trees so green,
A river meandering in lost places we have seen,

Thank you🏕

Thanks for watching Tony and I hope your doing well

Glad I'm able to bring you the sights and sounds of the Ridgeway Robert. I would avoid putting a rocket up your a-- better to get on a plane:)
Beautiful scenery and old church. Thank you for taking me along, Sandy. Cheers!
Hi Sandy Thanks for taking us along 🚵♂️ 😊 Lovely Woolstone, Compton🏴,
Stay Well and look forward to a camp out video if you get time🙏
Absolutely beautiful scenery sandy, harvest time always reminds me autumn is on the way rapidly. How quick the seasons seem to change now, nights are drawing in again and I don’t feel like we have had much summer 😢. Love to all the family carmen and zeta ❤❤❤❤

Again a beautiful video with places where it seems time stood still. Don't hurry and take your time to "stare". Thank you, Sandy for taking us along
We took a vintage VW transporter to Uffington on Tuesday. We are regulars to the White Horse pub at Woolstone. Love that area! Great cycle ride, well done Sandy 👍👉💎
Tis a nice pub the White Horse at Woolstone:)
Super ride and countryside Sandy. Looking forward to your camp. Great roads for two wheels.thanks
I was with you all the way pal😉 A lovely mix of topics and a particularly moving and pertinent poem for todays times👌😎
Cheers Marty, I hope to be out camping maybe on the next video. Yes we do need to make time to "Stand and stare" :)
A lovely peaceful bike ride 🙂

That was exactly my thought too :)
Great Video Sandy. Going to head out this way on my bike the weekend I think
Very beautiful landscapes and lovely architecture.
Thanks for sharing!

Angela, 4 miles is better than No miles. Well done:)
Beautiful ride, Sandy!
A lovely ride Sandy very enjoyable 🚴♂️
Thanks Chris
Great video lovely scenery new bike looks well.
I do like the Tempest, now around 1200 ,miles ridden on it
Lovely video, most enjoyable. Hope the planned camp comes off and you're able to share it with us.
Thanks, hopefully my next video will be a camping one, I could do with a nice camp
Great stuff Sandy, you're looking fit. Well done & thanks for posting.
‘Leisure’ is such a beautiful poem and I often think of those lines myself ❤
Sometimes I think our modern lives are just so busy and a hundred years ago must have been so much slower but I guess even in 1911 life felt hurried and too busy sometimes. So perhaps not so much has really changed??
Thank you Sandy for another great trip out, beautiful
Beautiful, this warms my heart
We all need a bit of heart warming at the moment Paul
A nice bike ride in our wonderful green and pleasant land Sandy, a bonus seeing our English flag flying, rightfully, outside that Saxon church. All the best to you and your family mate.
I shall always make a point of recording and filming the English flags from now on Paul
Another brilliant video thankyou for sharing
Just been up Cherhill Monument and it was not particularly what you’d expect in August. My six week holiday is coming to an end. Camping tonight and next few days. All this is down to being inspired by your adventures! Thanks, Sandy 👍
It's good that you can get 6 weeks holiday Dave, but like you found it it goes by so fast!
Another enjoyable video Sandy. Really enjoyed that video . Thankyou feeling very relaxed now after a hard days work
Indeed makes my heart slow down at the end of a busy day.
Another nice vid, great scenery, music & cool cycling weather......
'Ull' east yorkshire.
Thanks again, Sandy, It does make you wonder what the poet would think of the world today, considering Stand and Star was written in 1911. 👍🙂
I think he would be disgusted Brian. There are still quiet corners of England that he would appreciate though
Nice to see you back on the Ridgeway one of your happy places I think. I have watched a number of your great videos there with walking friends great times, thanks for sharing Sandy 👏 👋
Yes, this is one of my "Happy places" :)
Another lovely video thank you, l am hoping to walk the Ridgeway next year Jan from Bath
It's a lovely walk, I have hiked the Ridgeway 5 times, I now need to ride the route:)
Great trip Sandy, great reflections too, thanks for sharing.
Another gorgeous video from you Sandy. I visited a few years ago, parked in Uffington, walked onto the Rideway, along to Wayland Smithy then down to Compton Beucamp, Woolston and back. What a beautiful country. Thanks for sharing.
We really are blessed with such wonderful landscapes n vistas right on our doorsteps, you’re looking much better now Sandy, stay safe out there 👍😎
I certainly am blessed to live in this area Colin, there is beautiful landscape in all directions within a 15 or 20 minute bike ride from home.
Nice video as usual Lovely piece of country side. My best wishes to you from the Philippines ❤️💪👍😉😀😁🐑🇵🇭🏴
Thanks Gordon

Lovely video, love that poem too. Just. Shame the light contrast was lacking at times.
I’m in Jersey at the moment visiting. The wind has been very gusty down here too. In fact very blowy across the headlands. It’s always a pleasure to see the open English countryside. Cheers Sandy

Thanks Moose, our weather is certainly changeable
A very enjoyable ride and video. Good to see you are keeping well, was worried that you or Mandy might be unwell. Looking forward to the next camp.👍
In a car you are insulated to a great extent from the outside Jim
Lovely poem well read😊
Thanks for another nice video. 👍
Very nice :-) The downhill looked fun. The first bit of music sounded like "come on feel the noise" by Slade.
Another enjoyable watch Sandy great to see your out and about, take care on your bike
Thanks Alan

An enjoyable video as always. Shame the high winds kept the drone down. There is a Devils Punch Bowl not that far from me as well. Look forward to watching your overnight camp if it goes ahead. Thanks again.
Thanks Neil yes I have heard of other places also called "Devil's Punchbowl"
good see you put a vlog out on channel keep up the cool vlogs you share thanks lee
Thanks for watching and commenting Lee

I think he was a choir boy
@@WiltshireMan That's it. His mother was very devout and was behind a memorial garden and the water tap on the Ridgeway you filmed
So very, very sad.
At least you got one in for yourself, Sandy. A nice recon mission for future times.
You must have had your Wheatabix this morning to get up that hill.
Cheers
Hahaa, no I didn't have weetabix, this time it was bananas', nuts and dates :)
Lovely place sandy hope are better now I was told you have not been very well
I am still under the weather Michael but improving now.
@WiltshireMan glad you are getting better sandy go steady hopefully you can get out on camp soon
👍👌
We have a devils punch bowl here on the oregon Coast USA
I enjoy your trips and adventures very much I hope to someday visit England. I was wondering if you fly your ultralight plane anymore? You were talking about flying the drone it made me think back to when you flew the motorized hang glider
I have retired from paramotoring now
Enjoyed this video bro, what were they harvesting in the paddocks. Safe travels. Ken.
That will be wheat and barley mostly Ken
👍👍🌹🌹❤❤🌷🌷👌👌😊😊

Ah haaa you have made a wise pirchase
Any plans to cycle the ridgeway Sandy? All the best.
I'd love to cycle the entire length Andy but I'm short on free time at the moment, hence just day rides recently. It's on my list to do though
Hi Sandy … 🚴💨
Thanks Troy I hope your ankle is healing well.
