Sorry to hear about your good Lady I wish her a speedy recovery, another lovely video full of history and that's always nice to listen too, take care.Colin
Nice short film Sandy just showing that you don't need to spend more time on utube than you need. Give her our regards and here's to a speedy recovery 🎉.
Excellent research of Richard Jeffrey's and his surroundings, impressive video, I shall do some of my own research now. Thanks for sharing and hope your wife is OK and take care Sandy 👏 👋
Fantastic history lesson Sandy, I enjoyed it very much. Sorry to hear about the love of your life, I hope for a speedy recovery and that her health returns stronger. Family is always first. All the best my friend. Thanks for sharing. Tony.
I really enjoyed that, Sandy. I think if Richard Jefferies could come back and see what "progress" had done to his beloved countryside, he would think mankind had gone mad. Incidentally, I think "BH" on a map stands for "Beer House". Best wishes to your wife. Hope she feels better soon.
Wishing Mandy a speedy recovery, this can take some time, so Sandy as much as We enjoy all your videos an will be missed, Mandy's your priority. Great informative video, history is not lost, the remoteness the Stone circles may have been in Richards days, from the well trodden path is now a daily dog walk and likely what goes with that.. Take care of yourself too. Regards Dewi
Sandy, well wishes for your wife's recovery. Thanks for taking time out from your caregiving to share some of your wonderful countryside with us. History is mostly still there if you do the research and get out and look for it. David
Lovely video Sandy you never disappoint. When your cycling down those roads you make the viewer feel as if we are sat beside you. All the best to your Mandy and wishing her a speedy recovery. ❤
Best wishes to your wife and fingers crossed for a good recovery. I love how easy it is to pull up and grab a shot on the trike. That stone is a lovely bit of history. I enjoyed that. Keep rolling.
Best wishes and thoughts to Mandy and you as well Sandy. I really find the history quite enjoyable, makes me long for the days gone by. Looking ahead to seeing you and Mandy out and about again. Take care, Travis.
I always enjoy your videos whether camping, cycling, or showing off the countryside. My best to your wife. Do what you need to do. Been through some of that myself. Good luck. When things are better I will watch. Don’t worry about videos. Take care.
your weekly adventures have been mrssed , but your good lady health much more important , wish and hope she gets better soon . thanks for taking the time on this adventure , always enjoyable to watch , how times have changed not always for the better alas . take care all the best to Mandy
All the best to your wife for a full and speedy recovery. Another great film, extremely interesting and well done on finding the stone. Thank you, regards, Chris.
Thanks for making this video given your circumstance and get well soon to your wife ❤ I grew up on the park estates in the 60’s/70’s and can remember when Queens drive was a single track lane and there wasn’t any Dorcan/Eldene, A419 bypass or M4 motorway and we used to regularly walk n play on the lanes and in the fields all around the areas you have just cycled, it has brought back some wonderful memories 👍 We used to be able to walk across the fields to Wanborough and up to Liddington hill. Stay safe you both👍😎
Wonderful memories Colin of a time and place that has now gone, I never knew Swindon like that as I grew up in Watchfield and Shrivenham and rarely visited the town, infact I didn't make my own way into town until I was 14 or 15 years of age when I felt brave enough to cycle in, I can remember riding in from the Sevenhampton rd then along Beechcroft and down Pinehurst rd, I got as far as the railway bridge nr Manchester road then turned round and rode home!
Thank you Sandy for posting a very interesting video ,your videos are such a delight and I always look forward to watching them .best wishes ,take care regards Roy(oz)
Hi from Ireland..Its such a joy poring over old maps or reading an old book and then finding the subject in our modern world, still holding its own . Its a real physical connection with a world that appears long gone but when you know where to look isn't all that far away either.. Your going well on that recumbent. I hope your wife is doing better again.. Thanks for posting. I'm heading over to the lake district next week with a few friends on our motorcycles.. looking forward to it.
Thanks, I really do enjoy riding the recumbent. There are still lots of the past which we can see but an awful word that comes to mind is "obliterated" we have lost a lot too to development. Still, our present will one day be someone else's past but will they look back and say that was nice back then in 2024 ? Like we can look back to 1900 a time when there was no motor car or traffic and we had the great Elm tree's and thatched villages and water drawn from wells!
Lovely video Sandy, yes what a short life for Jefferies. Best wishes for Mandy, hopefully Mandy will make a good recovery, given the right help. A quiet country road, one of man's more important inventions the bicycle affords the chance to appreciate a quiet country road, just the hum or the tires, to remind one of the pleasure of riding a bicycle, while enjoying the relative quiet of a country road.
A silent witness of times long gone. Now almost unnoticed in a fast moving world. But not for you. Beautiful. All the best and I wish the missus a quick recovery.
, Thanks Sandy. If you find yourself at a loss and have a few mins to spare, I recorded my solo hike along the Cotswold Way, in June this year. Not up to your standard, but not bad for a beginner 😅 The Whittle Wanderer, Cotswold Way. 😊
Thank you, Sandy. It's always good to reaffirm one's roots, to stand on the ground of your ancestors, where they walked, and saw. May the Missus get better soon. Cheers.
Fantastic trip down memory lane Sandy, I run past the mile stone most Saturdays and sad to say, barely noticed it, thanks for sharing this lovely bit of our local history, that I will be more mindful of when I pass it. Best wishes to Mandy, and glad her recovery is going well.
You really are a true local historian Sandy! I have learnt so much from you. I have cycled past that milestone and never noticed it - next time I'll stop and have a look.
There you go Dickie, I also found out there were atleast 2 and possibly a many as 6 other stone circles in Swindon, One was very close to Coate water and the remnants are all scattered around Coate water car park, literally hundreds of large Sarsons. The other circle was up north between Moredon and Sparcells, the stones were unearthed then moved and are displayed either side of the highway opposite Purton road nr Mouldon hill park. Worth a visit if you haven't already seen them.
Another nice video, nice bit of history sorry to hear about your wife hope she's ok now. My best wishes to you from the Philippines ♥️❤️👍😉😀😁🏁🛺🏍️🐑🇵🇭🏴
