Wow what can I say your dad is Amazing it just shows the power of exercise. I myself am 71 I workout with weights, walk and cycle everywhere.hope if I get to 88 I'm like your dad a true inspiration as are you fantastic.
Wonderful, gentle-paced, affectionate trip. Like most of the comments, it is delightful to see the relationship you have with your dad and what an advert for the adaptability of Bromptons for all ages. Keep making these videos, Susanna, they have a wonderful feel-good factor.
Lovely vid. I’m fortunate to live in Norfolk, and it’s a great place for cycling. Know several of the places you visited very well. Glad you both enjoyed it.
Thank you for another lovely video, Susanna. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you how lucky you are to still have your Dad around, to be able to go on an "adventure" with......
What a lovely day adventure with Dad on Bromptons! I have a new hero in your dear father! I retire in Aug. '25 from the uni at age 67, and I recently acquired a Brompton Explore M6R in racing green on which I hope to take many adventures during my twilight years! Cheers! Loved and subscribed!
Lovely video of your family time, your dad is great for his age excellent. Beautiful Norfolk with it's lovely churches and great transport links, and this is where the Brompton comes into it's own wonderful, thanks for sharing and take care 👏 👋 .
Aw me too, I miss the Peak District hills too. Feel lucky to have grown up with all that on the doorstep... But Norwich, yeah we really liked it, great place, lovely countryside roundabout, and the coast too so close actually, though we didnt see that this time
Really valued the extended intro providing useful websites for planning both rail and bus journeys and will definitely be using Open street maps in future! Agree with you that Google maps public transport layer is frustrating. Thanks for the recommendations and another warm, informative and joyful video.
Hello! thanks for writing! yeh it is a pity isnt it that Google Maps doesnt show the trains more clearly, and pity that when you click "public transport" layer you don't see the bus lines. GM do have the bus info, cos it is used in the GM public transport "Directions" thing so I dont understand why they dont show the bus routes. They show the underground lines in London really nicely in the "public transport" layer, so you can see where the lines actually go. I wonder why they dont show "interurban" buses like that.
Lovely too see how much enjoyment you can get without charging about..and so simple with bus and Brompton. Your dad is inspiring...maybe I still have a few more years of cycling ahead!
again, and as always, thank you for taking us along. It was lovely, and so heartwarming to see you and your dad having such a wonderful time - rain and all! I appreciated your sharing your planning tools/sites. Here in the USA I am green with envy of your mass transit systems - trains and buses and trails. You both look very well - please stay that way!
I guess everything is all on just such a different scale in the US... yeh in the UK the bus network etc is far from fantastic really but good to see that where they are investing in making the buses better, people do seem to be using them - I found out later that that bus service we took had recently been increased to one bus every half hour using central government funding. And it was great to see it pretty busy. So that for some people for some journeys they can leave the car at home, and people who dont have a car can get about. Anyway! interesting. Thanks for writing!
Another lovely trip with your Dad. I loved it. You really know how to thread the scenes together beautifully. I'm envious of the rural public bus system there. We've seen some improvements on that front here but we're a long way behind in Ireland. Your Dad is in great fettle. So are you! Long may ye travel together. x
Hi Susanna, you’ve done it again! I loved this film, I am a British expat in Australia and I have been here 14 years since I left my adopted home of Ipswich. Whilst Suffolk and Norfolk have quite a rivalry I know most of the places you visited and it filled me with nostalgia for East Anglia. What a lovely break with your Dad, what a legend I hope I am riding as well at 88! I really enjoyed this video. Well done, I really look forward to seeing your videos. All the best, Matt.
Sounds like a great idea for a trip, Susana. I rode around Norfolk at the beginning of July doing the Rebellion Way and, like you, had quite a bit of rain. Nonetheless it’s a fun and scenic place to cycle 😀
Charming as ever. Hope I can still cycle when I'm 88. What a lovely time spent with your Dad. Thanks for sharing and for the very useful bus and train route planning info 🙏
A lovely video holiday with your Dad and you on Brompton’s. It just shows when you combine with public transport you can get quite far. Thanks for showing us the lovely architecture in the churches
Thanks Martin! thanks for writing, sounds great about walking on the SW coast path with buses. My friend Lynne has been doing something similar, and I did some stretches with her, bus assisted. We camped at one place, then over a couple of days bussed out and walked back, both directions, if you know what I mean. V nice weekend. Anyway! thanks for watching!
Hey Susanna - Nice to see you out with your Dad again. He’s an inspiration. I don’t know whether it’s just your editing, or luck, or what but you always seem to travel along pretty quiet, traffic free roads! Here in rural Devon there always seems to be a car behind you wanting to get past and the road surfaces are shot. Gravel, pot holes, debris etc. I’m embarrassed to say that I’m loving the electric bike! Love those Angel churches too. They are massive for relatively out of the way churches. The variety of church architecture across Britain is fascinating. It’s great that your videos include the destinations and enjoyment of the countryside. Take care. V X
Hi Vin! thanks for writing! yeah about the roads, it was mostly really nice and quiet and we really appreciated that - it is so nice often to be able to ride side by side and chat. And we found that on this trip a lot of the car drivers we encountered were very decent, waiting if necessary till they it was safe for them to overtake and giving us a lot of space. So, yeh of course we appreciated that. I always wonder if drivers see in their rear view mirrors that we do give a wave to say thanks. I imagine they dont really, cos they will be looking ahead wont they, but anway. About angel roofs, I found a map of them that was just extraoridary, masses of them in E Anglia and a few drifting out into Lincolnshire etc. Then hardly any. People have wondered why and one theory is that it's the big skies full of birds in the eastern counties that somehow that led to roofs full of angels. Anyway! hope you are having a nice weekend! thanks for writing!
@@susannathornton Apparently there is an angel roofed church in Taunton. It isn’t quite as spectacular at those in East Anglia seem to be although it looks as if it’s been painted in the not too distant past which make it look a lot more ‘fancy’ in the photos. Structurally simpler though and interesting as it’s a long way from the east. I feel sure I’ve seen another in Devon somewhere but I can’t remember where or maybe I’ve imagined it. V
@@jellyartist ah interesting that it looks different. Apparently there is a little cluster there in Devon and Somerset. I read a book about medieval East Anglian angel roofs, by a guy called Rimmer or something - who took super photos of them actually - and he did mention an apparently unrelated cluster of angels in the rafters in Devon Somerset. Interesting that the ones you've seen are a different style. I wish I could have taken better photos. I love looking at the details but it's all very high up!
Lovely Susanna, glad to see you back complete with superdad! I love your camera work, funny angles but that life. And the lovely churches make me want to go to Norfolk. Thanks so much.
Fabulous! Lovely to see your dad again. You’ve given me lots of ideas for future adventures. That bus website looks amazing. I now have a bus pass so combination of bus and Brompton is a great free way to get around and see more. Thanks for sharing your holiday with us. ❤
Hi Lynne! yeh it is a fab website isnt it, I get really inspired looking at it too. I wrote to the guy to thank him. And such a cheap way to get about, even without a bus pass the £2 cap thing is brilliant. Looking forward to hear what you do!
wow, you won me early! what an awesome daughter you are, and your Dad is my new inspiration. I loved the various old worlde and digital maps you displayed. Walked Peddars Way last year, so loved spotting the places I now know a bit. (Tip: that involved quite a bit of country lane road walking - and commuters use some, and FLY!!! Stay alert) Planning for my next journey - walking, kayaking, and will it be a bicycle or a small motorcycle? still deciding (I ride both here in NZ). Cheers Susanna!, John
thanks for writing! aw yeh about the maps that olde worlde map is beautiful isnt it, I love it. It's actually an old schoolroom map, you know the type they hung on the classroom wall back in the way. Hope you have a great next trip...
Thanks for another great adventure Susanna! 😊 When you said about treasure hunting I was wondering if you had ever tried Geocaching? We did it a lot when my son was younger as they are just everywhere and it can make a nice free day out hunting for treasure in the countryside. Anyway, take care for now
Another lovely adventure showcasing the versatility of the Brompton! I especially loved the old wool churches, with their angel roofs and over the top fonts.
Susanna, I love your videos and the way you showcase your trips and the places you visit - truly wonderful to embrace & appreciate the simple but beautiful things in life. Your Dad is amazing too! On another note - I'm a Kiwi & looking at doing some bike touring (on a Brompton) in Europe next year. I have the classic Ortlieb bags & would love to be able to use them. If at all possible, I would love to buy a steel rack like your husband made for your front Ortlieb pannier. Is that something he (or you) could consider? Many thanks, Lynn
Hi Lynn! glad you enjoy the films! oh that is great that you are planning to tour on your Brompton. About the frame for using an Ortlieb on the front of a Brompton, I'm afraid my husband doesnt make these commercially, but happy for people to copy his design - there is an image of the frame with notes on dimensions etc here, so that you could ask someone local to you to make one ua-cam.com/video/ar8D-TVgdxg/v-deo.htmlsi=uZpNWePnHtE3ql2k&t=227
I’m with the rest of your family - the cakes stole the show…the angels with wings put up a good fight but they lacked the sugar pleasure envy hit!! 🤭 Great example as to how nifty the Brompton is for opening up adventure opportunities! Yourself and your Dad look like great travel companions…a lovely video Susanna and fab to see yourself and your Dad together again on an adventure ❤️
Haha yeh those puddings were good! In normal life I limit myself these days, but when I am out cycling I feel I can let myself go and have a few proper puddings 😁 love it haha
As always - loved your film. Such a lovely relationship with your dad and it is so easy to see how much you both enjoy the adventure. I am so sorry to hear that your dad is also dealing with cancer but can see that you are a great encouragement to each other and the shared joy of cycling is a wonderful distraction and boost to you both. Wishing you both the best of health and hoping that things improve despite it being cancer. Thank you for sharing your adventure - it is a real spirit lifter for those who share the journey vicariously too.
Wonderful Susanna! How nice to revisit places you had seen with your family and how lucky of you to have such an active dad, still able to join you for a holiday on a bike!
good tip with open streetmap. because of the google problem with train lines i marked all train stations in my neighborhood with a heart symbol so i can see it more easily. with bus stations i do the same, but in germany it is often not possible to take a brompton in bus, especially if it is overcrowded...
Oh that is smart, to mark the stations with hearts so you can see them. Oh that is disappointing, about folding bikes on buses in Germany. Argh. I see more and how how public transport and bikes are a brilliant combination helping reduce pollution and congestion and noise and the need to park cars all over the place and great for health and mental health etc etc....
Enjoyed that and your other videos. You are inspiring enough but your Dad at 88 👏👏 I did a day ride on my Brompton recently where I did about 40 miles with a train journey and a ferry crossing as well. It struck me afterwards that as I get even older I could do the same journey but just increase the ratio of public transport. Fantastic machines and mine has a Kinetics conversion too which makes it even better but still good for public transport. Buses are free for oldies in Scotland too, so even better. Keep doing your videos 🙏👏

wow, you won me early! what an awesome daughter you are, and your Dad is my new inspiration.
Thanks for another good video. I’m always impressed how your Dad rides so well so far
Absolutely magical. Your dad is amazing and now I understand where you inherited your wanderlust from.
Thank you for sharing.
Peter from Florida.
thanks for watching Peter! yeh Dad is amazing my brothers and me are very lucky x
Wonderful content… precious time with father and daughter 😊xx
I’m in awe of your dad, I aspire to be as active as he is (if I’m lucky enough to reach his age)
What a joy, to share this with your dad. Do cherish the moments with him. ❤
How lucky you are to be able to bike with your dad at his age! :) what nice memories you are making with him. :)
Thanks for another great adventure Susanna! 😊 When you said about treasure hunting I was wondering if you had ever tried Geocaching? We did it a lot when my son was younger as they are just everywhere and it can make a nice free day out hunting for treasure in the countryside. Anyway, take care for now
Another great trip with your Dad. After Hereford last time. Super stuff Susanna. 👍🏻
Another lovely adventure showcasing the versatility of the Brompton! I especially loved the old wool churches, with their angel roofs and over the top fonts.
aw thanks Linda! glad you enjoyed it!
Heartwarming video.Keep them coming 🚲🚍🚞.
Susanna, thank you so much for kindly offering the details of the frame/ rack.🙏 - much appreciated.
I’m looking forward to your next trip. Take care.,
Hello Susanna, your father is really good for his age, I am sure you both enjoyed each others company. My best wishes to both. Andrew.
thanks Andrew! best wishes!
Another amazing adventure, thank you both for taking us along: Russ 👍🏼🚴♀️🚴♂️☕🍰
As always - loved your film. Such a lovely relationship with your dad and it is so easy to see how much you both enjoy the adventure.
I am so sorry to hear that your dad is also dealing with cancer but can see that you are a great encouragement to each other and the shared joy of cycling is a wonderful distraction and boost to you both.
Wishing you both the best of health and hoping that things improve despite it being cancer. Thank you for sharing your adventure - it is a real spirit lifter for those who share the journey vicariously too.
aw thank you Penny
¡Una ruta en bicicleta muy bonita! 👍
Excellent... Can't say more....
What an inspiring pair!!!
Wonderful Susanna! How nice to revisit places you had seen with your family and how lucky of you to have such an active dad, still able to join you for a holiday on a bike!
Another really interesting film.
Lovely Susanna, such nice trips together with your father, great countryside’s and towns
We cycled around the UK in May on our Brompton's and found the bus system a much better option than the trains. So much cheaper!
sounds wonderful Alison!
These videos are inspirational.
good tip with open streetmap. because of the google problem with train lines i marked all train stations in my neighborhood with a heart symbol so i can see it more easily. with bus stations i do the same, but in germany it is often not possible to take a brompton in bus, especially if it is overcrowded...
Thank you for taking us on your adventures. It's many years since I have been to Norfolk.
Love it. As always, in awe. Perfect micro adventures.
aw thanks for watching Jo!
Great 👍 🎉 enjoy your ride guys.
