Welcome to Texas. I’m a native Texan born in Austin. I was born in the 1960’s and it gives me such joy to watch your thrifting videos. You’ve been an inspiration and I literally call you, “my Muse”. A love of mid century decor has been renewed in me watching your videos. I have begun to change my home decor to mid-century and boho, it brings back memories of my childhood. Thank you!
My grandma lived in Canton, so I went to First Monday back in the 90s, and it holds a special place in my heart. I found so much great stuff there at the time - mostly albums and clothes. Looks like it's gotten even bigger. I haven't been back in years (I'm also in the PNW), so it was a thrill to watch you shop.
I live in Dallas and canton is fun but there is also trade days in McKinney and round top tx has the antique and flee market twice a year spring and fall … so much fun! Pickers paradise is one of my most favorite places I’ve been there many times and found lots of treasure !! Fun to watch this video! Especially seeing the thrift stores I frequent
Oh my gosh, I can’t tell you how many times I ate at Ballards Cafe. And the Plano Goodwill. I lived just down the street from that. And the reason the vintage was missing is that the Dallas GW pulls everything good and puts it online. Fun video, captures the interesting parts of north Texas.
Thank Y'all for coming to our Lone Star State, Texas!!! I live very close to the area you visited, my hometown is Commerce, TX. It's so awesome you chose to visit NETX, which is mostly small-town and rural. Dallas is about 65 miles from me. I used to sell my things in a little shop in Canton years ago. Great job showing off our part of TX but there's Sooooo much more to explore here. You would enjoy the Gulf Coast and the different vibe in Area from your last trip. Visit Austin and San Antonio, Houston, Big Bend Area, El Paso, Amarillo, Lubbock, Fredericksburg, the Mesas and Plateaus of west TX. You have a whole new world to explore. Y'all Come Back, anytime...
I’m from Austin but live in Bastrop County now. I’d recommend going to Trade Days in Fredericksburg. It has over 350 vendors and is open the third weekend every month. Then I’d recommend you travel around to the smaller towns around there like Comfort (xomacenna), Boerne, Kerrville to name a few. Glad y’all had a great time even in the heat! Great video and glad y’all were able to travel around. Come back soon but not in the summer! 😂
Great video Laura !!! What a fun trip to share with your niece. I am from south Mississippi and I LOVE the Canton Flea Market. It is amazing, it is true, you need at least 2 whole days there, but it is awesome! Hope you have a great weekend !
I believe the small short noisy rain making tube thing is a percussion instrument. They have the rain sticks , but for more control the have different sizes.
I learn so much from your videos. Nice to share with your niece and make memories. Laura and Jess thank you for playing great soundtrack to listen to and the photography brings you right in, so beautiful! Oh ya ,the thrifting was fun too.
More of my stomping ground!! Love it. Makes me homesick. Thank you for taking us along for the ride. Grew up around all of these towns. Even Uncertain, TX. Awesome catfish!
I can't believe there are ppl. who get to take trips, even more than one in there lifetime! Lol. My trips are with you & through your eyes. You do get to see some stuff & places. Your videos are so awesome at capturing them!
Love the Coach Hat!! I love hats and have tons of them. Love the new water bowl too! Thanks for taking us on your adventures~ so great that you could make these memories with your family.
Welcome to my old part of the country! I grew up in KS, but then lived in AR an TX before moving to Florida. What a fun adventure! I had no idea you don't pump your own gas in OR. I've been doing it forever. 😳 Great finds, fun and traveling companions. TFS! 💙 P.S. Your background music is always spot on. It adds so much depth to your vlogs and is appreciated!
That's funny...in Florida near me it's all $1.98, $2.98, etc. I wonder if it has to do with the sales tax. Perhaps the Goodwill pricing works with the local sales tax? Or they price for the round-up they always ask you at the register if you want to do? A few pennies per transaction probably adds up over time.
You hit every area that I frequent. I lived in Wylie for a while. Love Ballard Street Cafe. My parents live right in the middle of Texarkana, and Caddo, and Oklahoma. My great grandmother lived in Canton her whole life and we visited her all the time,, but never hit First Mondays until after she passed away. Her house is gone now,, but her Pecan tree still stands and is now in the First Baptist Church's parking lot. Glad you enjoyed your visit!
I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this video! It’s always wonderful to see how people who have never been here see the Dallas area! I grew up just across the Red River in southern Oklahoma and never thought I would live in the Dallas area! We’ve lived in several eastern and southern states since college, but wound up in Dallas after our daughter and SIL made us grandparents! We’re east of Dallas on the way to Canton, but we’ve only been to First Monday once. So glad you enjoyed your visit and want to come back! Thank you for a great video!
When I was a young kid my moms best friend worked at a Thrift Store and I used to climb into the bins of clothing and grab goodies. Still one of my best memories. Who knew I’d still love thrifting so many years later.
Next time y'all visit Texas you need to visit Gladewater. It is known as the antique capital of East Texas. I'm sure you would find some treasures here!
My daughter has lived in Dallas for years. The building you show at the end, with all the glass, I believe is where the decorators buy one-of-a-kind pieces...furniture, lamps, accessories. I will ask her about the second hand market of the area. We went to Austin one day and stopped at a town near Round Top that had some great antique stores with decent pricing and some very unusual items. I will find out and let you know. I love Vogue in Graham TX! It's quite the drive from Dallas, but a great store! Also, there is Weatherford and they have upscale flea markets and a few wonderful 2nd hand stores. Girl, you just need to buy a used van and go for it!!
Omgosh! You went to Ballard Street Cafe in Wylie! I lived there for 20 years. So glad you had a great time! Had to come back because I've been to that BIG Goodwill many times! I once found a giant collection of old Japan-made salt and pepper shakers! 100 pair! Got them for $60 for all! Now way!!! I'm in shock that you went to my spots!!! That Richardson Thift City is the BEST! I can't believe this! The last thrift store and the Pickers Paradise are so close to each other in downtown Garland. That was my favorite thrift store for picking clothes! Come back to Texas soon!
I live North of Dallas, I've noticed most Goodwill stores lack true vintage items. I've managed to find a few private owned thrift stores with variety of vintage including mid century.
Another great video! I love how you include beautiful scenery wherever you travel to. The bayou was so cool. I also love seeing interesting architecture. And of course, the great treasures you find!
The stores in Gainesville Fl are disgusting. Donations are thrown all over the place. Pottery, china is broken and separated. After watching Laura I was happy to see that there are quality stores out there, just not in our area.
So fun to see you in my neck of the woods. I live Northwest of Tom, OK. I made my living in the auto parts business. One of our warehouses used to be in Uncertain, TX. I shop the same Goodwill in Texarkana. My son went to the Van Gough show and sent me pictures.
Fun Fact A Vintage Caddo Lake Uncertain ,Texas Trucker Hat brought me a great return on investment last summer. It had a huge bass on it, it was camo and it had its own vintage save wildlife pin. It was in great condition and such a cool hat. It was a very profitable flip! Awesome road trip!
I don't know if someone has mentioned it, but the area on your travel day is known as the ArkLaTex. It was the halfway point between our home and theirs. It especially grabbed my heartstrings when you were at Caddo Lake. Not far from Uncertain is a restaurant called Riverbend. It was our favorite place for catfish and hush puppies when we lived there. Jefferson, TX is not far and a wonderful little town for antiquing, B&Bs and just enjoying that small town flavor. Gladewater is another small town in NE Texas filled with great shops. Further north, I believe pretty close to OK, is Paris, TX which is also fun. I moved "back home" (NY/PA border) following my husband's death almost 5 years ago. It is mostly good to be here but I definitely miss the amazing opportunities for thrifting and antiquing that we enjoyed there. I just discovered you today via your video of Canton's First Monday (isn't it crazy?!). Your videos are fun and informative, I'll definitely subscribe. 🥰
I live in the Missouri Ozarks but visit Texas often because I have family there. I love it, especially Wylie where I attended a Midnight Mass one year. One reason you may not have seen much mid century modern in this area might be because so many of us are still living with our original pieces. Glad you have such a great trip.
A tip...when you find things you realy want most stores will mail it to or you can go to post office and mail it home. I have done that many times. I live within 2 hours from canton its a great place..March threw may is a good time to come.
Great trip! I love it when you take us with you on the road! This time epic for me because I’m from Oregon, now in Oklahoma. I’ve been checking out Texas and Arkansas since being here. The Van Gough exhibit is coming to OKC. Thanks for your review. I had been on the fence about it before. It helps me decide to go for it.
This is Grandma from Texas. I don’t know why I cried when y’all left Texas. I live way further south and near Round Top. We have a little place out here in the country so I can have my garden and chickens. Thank you for your good words about The Great State of Texas.
Hello Laura. I live in Garland, TX and I love your content. I have a child who does 8 hours/week of therapy, so that means I have a lot of time to go thrifting. Next time you are in the Dallas area, you should try High Street Antiques for your jewelry. It's a very large antique mall that focuses on European antiques, but there is some MM stuff as well. Hi 👋 I’m watching this video 11 months later. I live in Dallas and I am so glad you were here, to get around to lots of places 😊. I’m watching video after video and can’t seem to stop 😊. I am learning so much from you 🥰. Thanks for your time and learning then teaching us😊. There’s a big flea market called Traders Village Village, not far from downtown. There are many thrift stores in Dallas. They seem to be everywhere and it would take you a very long time to go to all of them. 👋🥰🙏
Dear Laura, I really love your travelvideos (in fact I love all your videos)! Your videos made me so excited for Oregon that we’re travelling there this summer :) I can’t wait! X Lisette (from the Netherlands)
Great video! I have lived in Texas all my life and I'm 67 and have thrifted all my life. Right now I live in Houston. I live as close to Round Top as you can get and still be in Houston, so it's about an hour and a half from my house. Just a day trip. A lot of things are pretty expensive but they still have some deals to be made. Plus the little towns around it are just about 10 or 15 minutes away and they are much more reasonable because of the competition. I have found many many good things in Round Top. The Junk Gypsy girls are there, although their stuff is quite expensive but something fun to see!
Thrift Town stores in TX are great. We have a few in CA too, Sacramento, San Francisco. I have thrifted all over San Antonio. I even brought back a vintage lamp with a 24” carved wooden base of Mexican/Aztec faces. Somehow I snuck that sucker in the overhead luggage back when planes weren’t packed to the gills. It was relatively inexpensive and I wasn’t going home without it. I camouflaged it in a big striped plastic Mexican tote bag, zippered shut.
Loved the video content. Would have loved to go inside those ginormose Goodwill stores, and other emnse thrift stores. What Fun. And the sound of the low prices was music to my ears. Oolala you were talking my language.
This was such a different type of video for you but what a breath of fresh air!!!! I totally enjoyed it. Fun to see the lovely sleepy towns. I say sleepy because I imagine the heat does keep people indoors in the hot hours of the day. Once the air cools a little, I'm sure the fun, food and music 🎵🎶 come out. I live in Arizona and always wonder where the thrift stores with the great antiques are. Not all Goodwill's are created equal. Great fun, lived the bayou scenes with the great music.
Laura, great footage...I lived in No Dallas and went to all of the places that you showed. Canton is by far the most interesting and a lot like Brimfield up in Massachusetts. You brought back memories for me of Caddo Lake and the beautiful wildlife that I saw. BBQ is crazy, you are right all is bigger in Texas. Thanks for showing how in the Eastern corner of the state you can see four states. Love Oklahoma and Wylie. Thanks again. Next time come on up to the Northeast
You would love the Austin San Antonio area. In Louisiana New Orleans or Cajun country for thrift, resale shops and alligators. Come and go. Before mid May.
I live in Garland, a suburb of Dallas, and have shopped at that Goodwill often. AND the Thrift City, but they tend to be pretty expensive. Texas Thrift used to be a favorite of mine, but they also have way overpriced their goods and I don't even go in anymore. Next time you're here, you may want to check out the St. Vincent De Paul store on NW Highway in Dallas. It's very close to Love Field! Check out Garland Road Thrift, Casa View Thrift and Center of Hope in the Casa View/White Rock Lake area. So glad you had a good trip to my neck of the woods.
Have not been to Canton in 20 years. It was great then as well. It is a close drive from Tulsa. I would go during the cool months just for the comfort factor.
Laura, you always choose the best appropriate soundtrack to your videos. It really adds to the vibe.
The handmade pottery rattles are amazing.
This channel is a real discovery!! All good thrifts and good vibes!!
When I go to Germany I do the same thing. Suitcase in suitcase and coming home backpacks instead of purse.😊
Welcome to Texas. I’m a native Texan born in Austin. I was born in the 1960’s and it gives me such joy to watch your thrifting videos. You’ve been an inspiration and I literally call you, “my Muse”. That green marble lady would have been great for your First Friday product photos! Her tray is a perfect display spot.
I like the excitement in your voice as you narrate this vacation! Great vlog!

Hi Laura, I just rewatched this episode.☺️I’m from Texarkana and the AR GW is one of my frequent stops. So fun to see you stopped there!
Awesome taking time to be in the moment with your niece. Memories that will last forever.
Yes Laura your right ,we make memories an they can never fade away ,that’s why we all should live every day to the full Ann x

I’m from San Antonio and I was going to recommend the same. I’ve found so many good things in those small towns throughout the years.

love the plaid hat I was surprised it was Coach. so cute great colors for you and on sale!!!
I love the random cents at the Goodwill. In California everything is 1.99 2.99 etc.
That's funny...in Florida near me it's all $1.98, $2.98, etc. I wonder if it has to do with the sales tax. Perhaps the Goodwill pricing works with the local sales tax? Wow! Your stunning blue wallpaper really brings out the color of your eyes! So pretty! Love your videos!
Love thrifting Dallas, Oklahoma and Florida! Thrifting Dallas all day today!
How WONDERFUL yall got to do all that & w your niece all got to go.....never even seen / been to TEXARKANA myself born & raised in Texas...lol....
Family and memories are the best treasures.

I really enjoyed this episode thank you for sharing this amazing trip!
Thanks for coming to see us in Oklahoma! It looks like you didn't get to see much of our state but you did see one of our amazing sunsets!
How fun was that! I love impromptu trips! 4 states in four days...You can't beat it!
Great episode! Your music never disappoints.
Hope you all enjoyed my adopted state. Love from Sugar Land Texas! 🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱
Enjoyed video. Your travel videos are a great way for viewers to see areas they may never visit and items they may never personally see. Thank you.
Our Goodwill needs to go around to others so that they can see how nice everything is.
Ours in Denton are a mess too!!
The store is only as good as the donations.
Ours in Florida are terrible
@@lindafrance9192 Goodwill actually ships donations to other stores.
The stores in Gainesville Fl are disgusting. Donations are thrown all over the place. Pottery, china is broken and separated. After watching Laura I was happy to see that there are quality stores out there, just not in our area.
Those sealed pots that made noise are called rainmakers same as your used to Laura the sound was great
What a fun trip Laura! Wherever you go to thrift, I will watch! 😊❤️
So fun to see you in my neck of the woods. I live Northwest of Tom, OK. I made my living in the auto parts business. One of our warehouses used to be in Uncertain, TX. I shop the same Goodwill in Texarkana. My son went to the Van Gough show and sent me pictures.
Pecan lodge is one of the top bbq places in Texas. Ribs to die for. Such unique rub . wow!
Loved your trip to Texas vlog. So many wonderful finds, and a fun family trip. Thanks for including us.
And Texarkana !!
I don't know if someone has mentioned it, but the area on your travel day is known as the ArkLaTex. We lived in the woods on the TX side for about 11 years and our daughter & SIL were in Shreveport, LA. It yelled "Vivian!" as you filmed the street sign LOL. 🥰
Thanks for showing the knoll.. recognized it before you wrote up in the corner. Loved the hats.

The Coach hat was a perfect find for you!
Love your thrifting videos. The ceramic closed cylinders were rattles.
WooHoo! I live about 30 miles south of Dallas!!!! So many thrifts. Glad you came to see us!
Great vlog, I am a Texan but enjoyed seeing it through your eyes, loved the soundtrack. Great memories made, always a plus!
I think spur of the moment trips are the best, love to watch them, we can watch you thrifting another time no worries.
Agreed! Always time to thrift another day ☺️❤️
That was fun thanks for taking us along 💕I love history and learning as I travel.
Oh what fun ! Making memories
Thank u for that trip what fun! Thanks for teaching us new things!
Kathlene!
Thanks so much Laura, I got a little glimpse of places I’ll never see! 🇨🇦
Thank you, Laura, what an amazing trip you’ve shared .
I'm from texas never been to canton tx after watching this video I'm planning on going soon....love your videos
The Junk Gypsy girls are there, although their stuff is quite expensive but something fun to see!
That show you went to looked amazing
Cows: hello! You never been? 😊 We’ve been! Howdy!! Partner!! Soo cute they’re & curious
You were so close to Paris, Texas. There is a tall replica of the Eiffel Tower with a cowboy hat on top. Great for photos!
Very cool!! The stores you visited look huge with an amazing quality and selection.
laura u can add a base to the pot add faux plant ...could be cute!
Hi, Laura - what an amazing trip you all had! would love to hear more about the 6th floor museum.
I love your travel and thrifting videos. Thank you! I get to live vicariously.
What an amazing trip you had! And such great scores!❤️
Hello Laura it's always so much fun joining you on these adventures awesome finds
Thanks for joining me! ❤️
So happy you posted two videos this week! I've missed you.
Oolala you were talking my language.
love your trip , your finds and the MUsic~!
That Frank Ortiz bowl... gorgeous! Txs Laura I always learn something new on your channel❤️
The South is an all together like another level of heat!! LOL
I love Texas. You are so blessed to have such a big, close family. Saw a similar Van Gogh show in Ottawa.
Next visit to the south look for the estate sales, never disappointed. Enjoyed your videos. Canton is a whole weekend trip.
It was great to see your trip.
I just found your channel and I live in Wylie TX!! Raised in Louisiana and you went the same thrift stores I go to! Very cool to watch. ❤️
What a fun video!! Sometimes the best decisions are made at the last minute like your 4 state day trip. Loved seeing the thrift shops in Texas.
So many wonderful things! 🙂
