  • While digging through our video archive we've found a few older videos which have great information value so we decided to share some of them with you, this is the first one of those, more are coming over the next few days.
A very common question we get is - "If you could start over again, what would you have done differently?"
In this video Ed & Cale are going to give their answers to that question, they've paid a lot of "ignorance tax" while running their gym businesses so they know what needs to be avoided the second time around. They paid their "ignorance tax" so that you don't have to pay yours! Enjoy the video.

Great video thanks guys - With the 3x/week model, how do you implement/schedule that? Would it be like a group of 4 people that meet 8am MWF? Then maybe a T,TH,SA for another group at 8am? Or do you allow people to move around times and have the same workout offered multiple times everyday and the client chooses any of the times 3 sessions that works best for their schedule? So they could maybe do a M,T,F but not 'repeat' a workout? f you allow the clients to choose their time is it a first come first serve? Thanks!

I don't quite understand how focusing on semi-private would be more profitable? If you have group sessions priced at $99 a week and clients go 3x, that's $33 per session multiplied by 20-30 people that is $660-990 per session. If you do semi-private at $199/week, that's $66/session, times 4 people per session = $265/session. In both cases you deduct $50 or so for the trainer, it's obvious the group session model is much more profitable? Even if you only got 10 people in per session...

Great points, however there are a couple things here...
      1) large group is $49/wk
      2) if you have the space for 16-30 people and you run semi-private, you can run two sessions at once...or even rotate through so now you're making more per hour
      3) unless you're in a major city, most session rates for trainers is $20/hr
Churn on $99/wk for large group is unsustainable
