    People like your videos because you’re real. You just start talking and sharing what you know and also your straight, somewhat deadpan delivery I think is refreshing in a hyped up, selfie world where people are always trying to make their situation seem better or more incredible - but you’re just like. “Hi, I’m me, let’s talk...”
    I have enjoyed your videos ever since I came across your R6 videos a few weeks ago. Happy to sub to your channel.
    Lastly, I was never a full time photographer, but I have always shot alongside touring as a musician for the last 20 years. And I’ve done live music, portrait, lifestyle, landscape work, even real estate a bit, but the one thing I’d always proudly say was that I’d never do weddings. I guess I’d heard about drama during weddings and also the fact that I’m not great at doing anything for 14 hours straight - just too long for me I suppose. But it’s a really cool video and I just thought wanted to share. If anyone could sell doing weddings to someone skeptical I would vote for you.
    Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing what you do in 2022.

    I agree with everything you said, Taylor, but I would add a more spiritual aspect to it as well. Maybe someone already said this so if I'm repeating...sorry. Wedding Photography is the best job in the world because we are creating art from one of the greatest moments in a couple's life together. We document with skill photos that will live forever, that will be passed on generation to generation the happiness and love the couple shared on such a wonderful day. Their future children and grandchildren will cherish these images and want the same for them when it's their turn. Our responsibility as professionals is to give them photos that serve as art but also serve as something that will transcend time and will live on forever.

    Hi Taylor, I'm in the UK and can only access two of your 16 videos, for some reason the rest are showing as 'hidden'?
    Don't know if you know about this or if anyone else is experiencing the same problem?
    Thanks again for sharing your experience and knowledge with us👍

    I'm a former news photographer that's very interested in pursuing wedding photography. I've shot a few weddings & events over the years but I just don't have enough images to showcase. I feel like it's tricky getting access to shoot weddings without a "finished" portfolio to start... so then, what's your best advice on how to build up that portfolio as a newcomer to weddings?
    Thank you for all this helpful content!

      I’d say just start setting up as many shoots as you can to build your own portfolio rather than waiting for it to come organically

    Taylor, as a photographer that carries around equipment for hours at a time, do you have a weekly workout routine to that helps with the ergonomics of doing this?

    • @csc-photo
      @csc-photo 2 роки тому +1

      I would think free-weights and/or kettle bell workouts, along with stretching / yoga specifically. Also carry a really good bag with a waist strap to take some of the load off your neck / shoulders / upper back.

    perhaps you could answer a question for me. We are going to be getting married soon and are looking for a photographer. We have spoken to a couple of people and all seem very good. I have no issues with the price and requirements from the photographer for the day of. all seems very reasonable actually. One question I ask and always seem to run into a wall is this. Being a very amateur photoshop person myself I have asked if I could get 2 photos in the raw format. would like to try and see what I can do with them on my own. I am not asking for a price break or anything different and am happy today the amount requested. Every person we have talked to have said no way. Am I crossing a line I don't know about? Again just to be clear I ask this after the person has given us their price and I have no problem paying it. Can you shed some light on why this seems to be a big no go? we are in Canada as well, so is this a Canadian thing?

    • @TaylorJacksonPhoto
      @TaylorJacksonPhoto  2 роки тому

      Photographers are very protective over their raw files for some reason. I think it’s taught someone that they are not a thing clients can ever have or something.
      I personally have no problems giving them out. Shot a wedding photography couples wedding yesterday near Toronto and I’m sending them everything raw on a hard drive and also doing my regular selects/edits as normal. Maybe I’ll make a video asking why people won’t.
      I can see if it’s a couple that wouldn’t have a program to open a raw file, but personally have no problem giving someone access that has an idea of what they’re doing.

      @@TaylorJacksonPhoto Thank you, I would appreciate hearing why this is as issue, again, I am a rank amateur , have no issue with the price that was quoted, and just want 2 photos to see what I can do.
      Thanks,

    What does Focal build their website on? Can you still edit it?
    If it a free set up, what are the fees after that?

    • @TaylorJacksonPhoto
      @TaylorJacksonPhoto  2 роки тому +1

      Yep you can still edit it. Or if there’s anything you want advanced done you can always ask them. If it’s very complex I think they do an hourly web design rate. But you can also do most things yourself.
      It also comes with the full CRM backend as well. It’s $50 a month, which is less than I was paying on squarespace for less functionality

    • @TaylorJacksonPhoto

      I try to keep them local so the days are 12 hours or less from leaving to getting back home. I used to work at restaurants so a 12 hour shift is pretty chill haha
