    This is such fun to watch. I used to have a HP 260 Latex printer, vinyl master and a Titan 3 cutter combo. The satisfaction of clean, simple, easy and the final product to be proud of really felt great. The MH is really a great little starter.
    This makes me want to start up again.

    Thank you so so much. We are really needing to buy an MH series due to the price, but hesitant because it doesn't have the laser, this makes me feel sooooo much better, a few minutes of extra work is worth it for how much we'll use it. THANK YOU!! U.S. Cutter should have this video on their site!

      My only additional warning is to be sure you don't move the blade carriage when swapping the pen and the blade. It moves easily and will introduce an unwanted offset in the cutting. I usually stabilize it with a finger to make sure.

      @@ambiab29 I printed them on the vinyl first. I have an hp-t120 designjet printer. and use inkjet compatible vinyl. the vinylmaster software will walk you through the printing and cutting with the contour cutting wizard. Remember, to do contour cuts with this cutter you must have the laser offset set to zero for both the x and y directions because we don't have a laser.

    You're the man! Been trying to figure this stuff out for days, thinking I need a fully automatic cutter (which is bigger and doesn't have wheels on the stand) to contour cut perfect stickers. So, we can use any cutter at all. It just takes longer to set up each job if not automatic. Thanks so much! And please let me know if you think not all cutters can do this.

    This video is so very timely and helpful for me. I have gone from (messy) screen printing to now heat press transfers, but, the plastisol transfer sheets I must order from companies and sometimes I just need a small amount to test market an idea/slogan to see if it's worth making a large order to then hear press. VERY cost prohibitive for me (one man shop). However, looking at the Cricut and Silhouette cutters, they seem very viable options (ALL I am looking to do is print, hopefully colorful images...only vinyl, I guess) and then print these onto canvas/cotton material and/or t-shirts. You video shows stickers using printable vinyl...does the vinyl or can you recommend any vinyl that I can run through my 8.5x11 or 11x17 inch (Epson WF7510) wide format printer that I can print on in full color and have stick onto canvas/cotton and/or polyester t-shirts? I SO appreciate your time and hopeful response. Cheers!!

      yes they sell it on amazon, it works pretty well, you should ensure that you are getting the "opaque" for dark fabricks as its background is white, then you can use a cricut mat or something similar to cut the design out along with the backing
      I just did this for my granddaughters graduation party tee shirts.

      @bcburnettcom  3 роки тому +1

      sorry for the late reply, I played around with it till it worked, but that being said, the manufacturer will have suggested blade type, pressure, and speed for their material. To adjust your blade depth, take a small piece of vinyl, remove the blade cartridge from the cutter, adjust the blade depth till you can cut out small circles out of the vinyl scrap by hand without cutting through the backing. Then replace the blade cartridge in the cutter, it should be all set.

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  3 роки тому +1

      sorry for the delay, the most important thing is to set the cut depth correctly inthe blade holder, too deep and it will cut through the backing regardless of any other setting, likewise too shallow and it will not be able to cut entirely through the vinyl. the correct way to set the depth is to take a scrap piece of vinyl, and tediously adjust the blade depth till you can cut out a circle by hand with it and it doesn't cut the backing, then as for the pressure, cutting speed, and blade type, you should follow the manufacturer's recommendations for the material you are cutting.

      that would be, because in the other shots where I used my canon camera, i cut out the recorded sound, and that one was just the raw sound, I didn't want to record the noise the cutter makes, and there was no point recording sound with the printer, and the rest were screen shots. The geiger counter was probably the lens cap bouncing off the camera :).

      from the vinyl master help in my version concerning the source controls
      The Source Options refer to the artwork and are optional, explained as follows:
      Selected Objects
      when checked sets the Objects that were selected in the designing area to be Contour Cut, all other artwork is ignored.
      Clip to Page
      when checked sets the boundary of the page's border from the designing area as the artwork's extent.
      Include Full Bounds
      when checked sets all of the artwork to be included in cutfile (including any masked areas).
      Tiled Copies
      when checked brings up the quantity settings

      Mark Position
      sets the distance the marks are set away from the artwork. Note: setting this to less than 1 inch or 25mm may cause the artwork to intersect the marks and spoil the artwork.
      Full Width
      when checked sets the marks to the match the width of the artwork allowing the artwork to take up more of the media, which is ideal when printing on small page sizes.

      Weedbox
      when checked applies a Cutline as a perimeter around the artwork.
      Job Name
      sets the name of the Job for PDF, the RIP and the Vinyl Spooler to assist in managing your work.

    Can I cut out regular transfer paper if I lower the pressure of my cutter?? Also, do I absolutely need a PEN TOOL?? I definitely do not have one.

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  4 роки тому +2

      I have used it to cut printed avery full page labels of emojis for my grand daughters diary pages,
      tee shirt transfer vinyl works well with a pressure adjustment, the vinyl will have correct settings with it.
      the vinyl material doesn't require printing, so just do a create contour then send to cutter
      tee-shirt transfers:
      the ones for dark material have to be cut out,
      and with a thin cutting mat, like the ones for the cricut, i have cut out the light transfers so there is not a bunch of extra clear material stuck to the shirt.
      you just have to make sure the image and the registration marks fit on the page, you can tape it to a larger sheet to maximize the transfer area that you can use, as remember, you start with the blade about an inch from the first registration mark outside the image.
      so you have the image then the registration marks, then add an inch at the top for initial blade position and add an inch and a half at the bottom as the rollers are set back from the blade.
      I hope this helps.

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  4 роки тому +1

      the pen tool isn't necessary at all, you can just press down lightly on the blade to extend the point to center it in the mark.

      @@bcburnettcom thank you for your prompt reply and help. It was very useful. I'm accustomed only to vinyl and DTG. However, recently, parts on my DTG has to be replaced. Expensive parts. This was my means to printing full detailed images. I'm now looking to ink jet transfers to provide the same service minus the quality of course. My biggest concern is that all images would come out boxed shaped and having extra paper where it isn't necessary. So my goal is to learn how to contour cut. Getting rid of the excess paper using only my US Cutter and Vinyl Master for the cutter program. An ink jet printer and some heat transfer paper. This is new territory for me.

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  4 роки тому

      @@tyh4180 The cheap inkjet transfers on amazon are pretty much crap. the durability just isn't there, and the adhesive just sticks to the surface of the tee shirt ribs, even in a tee shirt press. thus when you stretch the garment the image breaks at the ribs and distorts. I was playing with this for tee shirts for a party and had really bad success. This might be fine for small images such as breast logos but for anything full size its sketchy.

  • @Copagueropdx

    Could this be done onto heat transfer vinyl? I have the same set up but want to make logos to print onto soccer uniforms.

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  4 роки тому

      There are a few different heat transfer methods.
      1. regular heat transfer Iron-on for light fabric, this will only work if you use a cutting platten, I have a thin self healing mat like for the cricut, as the transfer medium is very thin and delicate, you will be cutting through the paper.
      2. heat transfer for dark fabrics, which is a sturdier vinyl that needs to be pressed on right side out, You just need to be careful with your blade depth, but it will cut out this material. once again i recommend using a cutting mat under the paper so you can get the maximum area cut.
      3. regular solid color heat transfer vinyl, with this product you achieve the colors by layering the different colors of vinyl. no printing is involved, just strait vinyl cutting.
      Vinyl master and the mh are perfectly fine for this.
      this video may be helpful for doing the separations, if you want to go that route.

    Did this cut through the backer too? I've seen dozens of videos but no one shows the sticker with the backer contour cut.

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  4 роки тому +3

      The vinyl cutter relies on not cutting through the backer so it can move the sheet back and forth. In fact when you change blades you calibrate the blade depth specifically to not cut deeper than the vinyl layer. After you weed the excess vinyl you can cut the stickers with scissors or an exacto knife. if you contour cut the backing, the sticker is really hard to peel off the backing. I usually just cut the stickers into squares.

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  Рік тому

      that depends on if you want the cutter to contour cut your graphics. Vinyl Master is the only program that came with my mh871. so that is all i am familiar with. I made printed tee shirts for my granddaughters graduation, I found that when using the 8.5x11 sheets it was essential that I used a cricut mat under the printouts, and make the appropriate blade depth adjustment with the blade holder. the heat transfer sheets have a very thin vinyl coating so it is tricky to get the blade to just cut the vinyl, when i did this i set my blade depth to cut through the backing paper so i was left with just ovals to iron on.

      according to uscutter website, the software for the mh series is pc only, in fact i had to leave my laptop as windows 10 just so I could run the software, I have now figured out how to cut from it with linux, and inkcut, (buy a serial to usb adapter, connect to it over the serial cable since there are no drivers for linux for the usb connection) but am only able to contour cut on it from windows so far. www.uscutter.com/Vinyl-Cutter-Starter-Kit for the mh series, apparently the software they offer for mac is 'sure cuts alot pro' and not vinyl master. so i think the answer is you need a pc to run vinyl master with the mh series.
      you may be able to run vinylmaster in wine on the mac, but i am still trying to figure out the correct configuration.

    Hello. My Vinyl Master Traces not showing up

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  5 років тому

      I usually go through the contour cutting wizard for cutting out sticker sheets. I don't know how you are doing your traces. I'm no expert, this is just a hack I worked out to make my cutter do contour cuts.

      my trace is not showing up either, did you ever figure it out?

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  5 років тому

      there are three tabs at the bottom of the preview window, view print only, view cut only, and view both. If view print only is selected the trace will not show up in the preview window.

    Will the SC2 do perf cuts?

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  4 роки тому

      from what I see, the sc2 is the next higher version of the mh series, it comes with vinyl master, so it should contour cut as long as you set the blade offset to 0 for both the x and y axis.

      @AlbertLozoya 4 роки тому

      I understand that it can do a contour cut. My question is will it make a perforated cut all the way through the liner and the vinyl?

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  4 роки тому

      @@AlbertLozoya I have never tried that, i would think that a dashed line would produce a perforation cut, but to cut the vinyl then cut the perforations would require 2 different blade depth and pressure settings, it would be like doing a contour cut twice i think.

    Was that a hp designjet T120?

    • @bcburnettcom
      @bcburnettcom  5 років тому +1

      Its an HP Designjet t120 inkjet printer, It has single sheet, roll, and cut sheet feeders. I was using Inkjet vinyl for the stickers, if the vinyl is not inkjet vinyl the ink will not adhere to it.Yes.

      @@bcburnettcom awesome thanks for the answer+additional info!!! that's my next buy! I got an Epson wf 7720 which I converted to sublimation ink and now I need a hp designjet t100 or 120/130 so I can handle wider formats as well as rolls!!!! Hard to find one for less than 1k that can do rolls, but hp t120 just barely makes it :) love your video btw!

      @@NothingsR33L I picked my t120 up on amazon refurbished for $599.00 last year. My next purchase for it is going to be a tank system as the ink from hp is very expensive, refilling my own is messy, knock off carts are ok but it always seems that the color carts drain 10x faster than the black and you are left with ink packs missing one or two colors other than that I love it to death! just make sure to print something on it every 2-3 days or the print head will dry out and it is a $199.00 expense.

      There are better machines out there that will do the registration setup automatically, in fact some will print a barcode on the print so it knows which contour lines to pull from the computer. but the price for this convenience is a factor of magnitude above the mh. the Roland cut and print combines the two functions, and prints on any vinyl with uv resistant ink. The H P latex printer will print on virtually anything, so there are great options if you want to look at more professional machines.
