Safe driving, walking and biking on Tamarack Avenue

Traffic safety is a priority for the City of Carlsbad. In late 2022, neighbors along Tamarack Avenue between Adams Street and Skyline Drive expressed concerns about speeding and safety. A long-term project to redesign Tamarack Avenue had already been added to the city’s schedule of upcoming projects but would take several years to complete.
The City Council directed staff to work with the community on potential solutions that could be implemented more quickly with minimal investment to address neighbor concerns in the interim.
In 2023, the city completed these measures under the traffic safety emergency that had been proclaimed citywide. These measures included speed tables and raised crosswalks with flashing lights.
