Just had to lay my Mother to rest, who lives 2 doors down from Sam. I've met Sam on a couple other occasions, so I stopped by to say hello. I was in awe, as he showed me his great collection of motorcycles. And as much as I couldn't believe my ears, Sam asked me if I wanted to go on a ride. I said, heck yah ! He said choose your motorcycle. There was something about the 1968 Suzuki T200 2 stroke, actually he had two of them, that was calling my name. Before you know it, we were hitting some of the same roads that you guys were on. Was like a dream ride, with the snow capped mountains, trees ,and streams. Just a magnificent ride !!! Sam is a special person to allow me to ride his bike, and to take me on that ride. Something I will never forget. :-)
Hi Dave, I’m really sorry to hear about your mother. Very happy to hear that you were able to meet Sam and he was so gracious as always to offer you a ride on his incredible bikes. My trip to Nevada was so memorable mostly due to the kindness and generosity of Sam and Bob. I’m glad you enjoyed the ride. Take care, Mike
Bloody 'awesome' Mike, thanks to Sam & Bob this bought back such happy memories of 60 years ago riding out with a few mates. So pleased these bikes are 'still doing it' it's what imo they are best at. The ride reminded me of a visit to New Zealand, every bend was a new view better if it's possible than than the first. Once again many thanks for all your work in getting this out to us. atvb t ..
Thank you very much Terry! It was a magnificent ride and I really enjoyed making the video afterwards. It was hard trying to decide which clips to keep and which ones to discard. Best wishes, Mike
WOW, the sights of the road, the sounds of the exhaust, the vintage British bikes, your matching voice, 650cc motor!!!, going at cruising speed. Glorious!! Thank you so much for your video.
Hi, thanks so much for your kind note. That was such a memorable experience. It was one of my favorite rides. Best wishes and happy new year! Cheers, Mike
Amazing indeed. Welcome to America. In the mountains there's no "noise". No politics, no stuff, just AIR. Thank you from senic New Hampshire. Your views were over the top👍✌️
Many thanks. Glad you enjoyed that video. That really was an incredible thrill. Sam recently informed me that much of the hillside has been seriously burnt
Hearing that BSA purr along was a trip down memory lane for having ridden a '66 Lightning for several years (and the same year Bonneville before that). I'd be anxious on such a long trip with those ancient beauties. Incredible roads, geology, and vistas; thank you!
Thanks from those of us who might never be able to make a trip like that. Definitely going to be one of those adventures you never want to come to an end.
Well Mike, day 1 was a real treat. Some of the best scenery ever, and twisties, and coupled with your good choice of " majestic" background music. Love it. And the BSA is a real beauty and sounds great. Looking forward to day2. Thanks. Cheers,, Dan. 🏍😀🇨🇦
Many thanks Dan. Hehe, I thought that music was appropriate for the view ;) I'm still working on the day 2 video, so it may be a little while. It's been a challenge cutting it down 😉
Mike, What a great piece of work here. Beautiful country on beautiful bikes with like minded folks, doesn’t get much better. Thanks for being such a gracious host. Love the sound of that 650 twin! Acquitted itself well with the bigger Vincent’s! Thanks again Mike!
Many thanks Stephen. I had a fantastic time on the trip to Nevada. It was one of my favorite rides ever. I’m glad that you enjoyed the video. Thanks a lot for your kind comment. Best wishes, Mike
Retirement is around the corner and this part of the country is on my bucket list to ride. Thanks for sharing and this ride in particular was just awe-inspiring.
Thank you very much David. It was a terrific trip. We had a wonderful time. Back home now and working through all the files and editing them. Best wishes, Mike
A bit chilly to ride back home in the Willamette Valley this Sunday morning, so sitting back and watching ya'll ride over a cup of coffee puts a smile on my face. Even the cows are impressed by the Gold Star! Haha. cheers, mate.
In 1981 I took my BSA 650 on a 1550 miles road trip.. Made it half way and broke a cam gear.. trailered it remainder...but that ride was one I will never forget. It was 36 degrees F and ice covered road at the time of my departure. whew.. that was a challenge. Good video...Thank you.
I put this on big screen ,kicked back and soaked it all up. It must be so amazing to have so much space ,horizon ,distance and grandeur to ride in . I love riding in England but you soon run out of solitude . Bucket list must include riding in North America. Probably not on my A7 though.
I totally agree and it’s just what I was thinking when we were riding. It’s such a massive country. Nevada felt like a different country in so many ways to Oregon. We’ve only just scratched the surface of Oregon on our rides and hopefully will get further out one of these days! Best wishes, Mike
I was looking for an RGS about 5 years ago. Of course due to rarity they are very expensive. I learned that the late model Super Rocket is essentially the same bike as the RGS using the same engine and frame. ( BSA RGS only, Eddie Dow are different) So I went hunting for one of those. They are fairly easy to find and give the same riding experience, other than the special feeling of riding a rare bike. About 6k vs 25k? Good enough for me, I'm enjoying it!
Thank you Glen. I love your Super Rocket. Just love that it is so original. I've watched your video several times 😉 I've sent you a note on the AN forum. Hope you receive it aok.
Been about twenty years since I got through that territory, but it's still beautiful, a great ride. The bike really sounds good, the road looks beautiful. I've managed to make that trip perhaps a dozen times all together. It's absolutely gorgeous. That was simply great, thanks for sharing it.
This is one of the best youtube videos I've seen in a long while. The story and narration was good, video was hi def and crystal clear, the audio was good, the titles all very clear. My wife doesn't usually enjoy bike videos, but she sat in rapt attention for this one. Well done!
Nice ride on some great bikes. The roads are so different to the small country lanes of England. And such beautiful light, a dark visor or sunglasses needed.
A beautiful ride Mike, breathtaking views and not forgetting the beautiful bikes. Unbelievable how sweet the Vincent sounds, for a bike with so many years. Thanks for posting the video I really enjoyed it, the burger looked top notch but sadly not good for my cholesterol 🤣🤣👍👌🙏
The amazing scenery was almost as spectacular as the highly polished cases on that sweet BSA Rocket Gold Star! Well done everyone! A most enjoyable episode.
That video brought me back about 30 years, Mike. In the early '90s, I was living in Oakland and riding motorcycles and bicycles. My friends and I used to do a big organized bicycle ride out of Markleeville called "The Death Ride". The name should've been a clue. Anyway, the ride involved riding up and over 5 or 6 passes (depending on the year). Going over Monitor Pass to 395 and then back and over the other direction were the first two passes. The ride was about 120 miles and 14,000 feet of climbing, all between 7000 and 8000 ft of elevation. I was younger and fitter then! I never did that ride on a motorcycle but watching your video made me nostalgic. What a beautiful place!
Wow, thanks a lot Corey. It was tough enough on an old motorbike, let alone a bicycle! We saw a few cyclists and I was amazed how much energy they must have had. Hope all is well. Best wishes, Mike
That cow just said "Is that a BSA Rocket Gold star? It really looks like it." Yes, this vid has everything, even a discerning cow. A hugely enjoyable vid Mike.
Mike, I did Monitor Pass the same way you guys traveled. The pull out you spoke of being a good place to pull off , I. did and got the pics. Beautiful ride. Mike, I'll have the Vincent Black Shadow. I did this ride over the pass in June 2019. I flew from Alabama to Medford and purchase a Ducati ST4S from a friend in Ashland. Mike if you get the opportunity ride the hwy that takes you through Lassen Volcanic National Park it's a beautiful ride.
Thank you Henry. Yes that was an amazing experience. Absolutely loved it up there. Yes, I would have really liked to of stopped where are you did to get a few pictures and a panoramic view with the camera. Best wishes, Mike
@@TheMightyGarage Yes, I’ve communicated with Mark via the forum. He seems like a decent bloke. If he’s anything like his brother Simon, he’s one of the good ‘uns.
That was an epic ride on great bikes through amazing scenery on brilliant roads - bit jealous here mate but glad for you and your buddies. Life doesn't get much better - keep on truckin'.
Great sceneries! Thanks! Only thing is the Gopro seems not have invented protection against wind rush, so maybe a good idea is to have the media pod and a hidden wire mic. I am cionsidering updating to Gopro 8 or 9 but more likely will not get rid of the wire mic yet... The older Gopro 6 with 3,5mm adapter is a little too weak on the couplings, it begins to have some trouble after using it on the bike for some time.
Thanks, actually I do use a microphone that plugs into the external microphone jack in the media mod that wraps around the GoPro. It's tucked away in the chin area of my helmet and even has a dead cat around the mic. Unfortunately, it still picks up on the wind noise, especially when it's particularly noisy as it was on that day. Cheers, Mike
Hi Mike. Thanks for sharing the beautiful view. On a side note. It seams like your helmet is very quiet. Would you please share the make and model? I have a couple of Bell helmets and they are very loud. Thx!
Thank you Timmy. I have a Schuberth C4 modular hemet.. It's a really nice and quiet helmet but pretty heavy. My friend @swooshDave found out that a local Ducati dealership was ending their business relationship with Schuberth and we both got our helmets for $99! It was a fantastic deal. Best wishes, Mike
Hi Mike ! There are loads of narratives one could use for this edition, but it has to be “ Awesome “. In my opinion one of your best ( which is hard because I like them all ) I was almost in tears at some points being on the back with you all and wishing I was riding my 1955 A10 Goldflash along side !! Quick question Mike do those tar snakes worry you ? Thank you all again ... cheers Ray 🇬🇧
Many thanks Ray! I really appreciate it. Yes, I do get a little nervous with the tar snakes. They can be quite scary at times. There are some in my neighborhood that are terrible. Ray, I love the A10 Gold Flash and I think you will enjoy an upcoming video! (hint hint) Best wishes, Mike
Thanks for taking us along for the ride! Towards the end of the video, I recognized the area around Topaz Lake. When you mentioned turning right to head towards LA, was that outside of Bridgeport? Spectacular views from those high passes, eh.
Those roads with those views on those bikes with your Pals...JEALOUS!!!!!
Oh, that was a fantastic trip. We may possibly be going back this year.
If there is a heaven it must look like that while riding an RGS, just fantastic!
Thank you Martin. It really was an amazing experience. Thanks a lot for your comment. Best wishes, Mike

Thank you Guy. That's a really good point. I had to force myself to concentrate on riding at times. It's so easy to get distracted! Cheers, Mike

So many great bikes in Oregan....is this similar throughout all states? ....I don’t think there there are that many British bikes left in the UK!

Many thanks! I’m sorry but I’m not sure if it was Bridgeport. Yes, that was a fabulous ride up into the mountain. Best wishes, Mike
I am not jealous, no not one bit, not me.
Bugger.
😄😄 that was an amazing day!
