Considering how much cheaper RD One Amburana is compared to other amburana finished whiskies, I'd says it's a good buy. I can see why it sits on the shelf though too. I never drink more than one pour of the stuff myself, because amburana is not something I'm going to drink all night, regardless of the brand.
I paid $60 for the RD1 Amburana and I like it. It's definitely a niche product though that's not meant to be drank regularly. I do a half pour of it and only for my last pour of the night because it's a palate killer.
$60 is a little better. Still not a fit for our palates. Might try it in a cocktail or after dinner drink to see how it pairs. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
That rd one is a mood thing for me…most of the time, it’s a no for me, but I had it when it’s cold outside, and enjoyed (also pretty fun in a Manhattan or a Fall Back)
All of this is palate driven and I can see where you’re coming from. Just saw a review on the Knob creek 10 rye and they loved it. But everyone is different and I’m a big KC fan so if I see the 10 I’ll get it. Now any finished stuff I’m out for the most part just really not a finished guy. Most are just to sweet. I prefer bold and spicy hence why I like rye’s.
Good pick on the Knob Creek 9 120 proof, but I am finding that I enjoy the regular 9 year more at 100 proof. The Single Barrel is a HOT sumbitch' for only being 120 proof. So many other bottles I have had in the proof range drink a little smoother, but still give you a little Kentucky burn. I would still like to get a bottle of the Jack Bonded Rye to try out, probably to mostly use in cocktails like you suggest. But I also find myself using the Knob Creek 9 year for that as well-also at 100 proof and a similar ~30-35$ price point.
I totally agree on the Saz Rye. I have wanted to try the RD one but balked at the price. FYI... The High West Cask collection finished in rum barrels was a miss for me. I wish I would of just spent the extra money and just bought the Angel's Envy Rye finished in rum barrels instead.
The high west is such an under appreciated bottle. I have the cab finished one, and it holds up to the other more expensive finished whiskeys like mwnd.
Big fan of the knob Creek single barrel! Knob Creek rye however just isn't enough ride for me. Seems kind of out of balance. Great video guys I agree with most of your selections. At the right time I do think rd1 is pretty good stuff though. Kind of an after-dinner kind of deal.
Honestly I've never had your 2-4 picks lol. I don't mind Saz Rye, since I can get it for below msrp locally. I actually liked High n Wicked The Jury, but I also got mine for 50 bucks so i can't complain lol
The RD1 Amburana is one of my wife’s favorite bourbons. I think it’s “ok”. Constructive criticism time: I have a hard time watching your channel without putting the playback speed on 1.25 😂. Pick up the pace a bit!
Love that you 'dare' to put over-priced/hyped in their place.., and offer an alternative. So many whiskeytubers suck up way too much to Big Bourbon.
No sucking up here. Thanks for watching. Cheers. 🥃

Not trying to pick on RD1. Not worth it for the price in our opinion. Seems like a trend that won’t last. But maybe it will? Cheers.

We have yet to try it in a cocktail. We should. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
I don't know about the RD1 Amburana, but I like the Withered Oak Amburana (1220 Spirits - which also happens to be local). It's great in a cocktail.
We’ll need to compare. It’s gotta be cheaper than $70 to use in a cocktail, right? Cheers.

Try it. We were disappointed but you are correct, it depends on palate. We are big KC fans and we both picked the 7 year in a blind. Cheers.
Great video, love that you put an alternative for each bottle that isn’t worth the money.
Thanks for watching. Cheers.
The KC 9 single barrel reserve 120 proof is always on my shelf. So good!
With you on this. Can we say underrated? Cheers.

The 120 proof KC will vary. We’ve had a proofy one but most are pretty good. The JD bonded rye is surprising good. Recommended. Cheers. 🥃

We tried the High West Rum and would agree. Surprised by the Chardonnay. Angel’s Envy Rye is one of our favorite finished pours. So good. Cheers.

High West is doing some great stuff. Underrated if you ask us. Cheers. 🥃

Knob Creek 10 seemed really out of balance for us. Not enough flavor variation. Maybe we try RD1 after dinner and see if it changes our mind. Cheers.
Good video fellas. Agree with most but have to disagree on The Jury....it is pretty damn good!....and $115.
We’ll give it another go. Cheers. 🥃
Rd1 is amazing, you are nuts.
We’ll leave it on the shelf for you. 😂 Cheers.

We wouldn’t complain about a $50 Jury either. That’s a deal. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
I'd rather have my old JB pre-prohibition rye over that Sazerac rye ANY DAY and it's less than $20 👍 Cheers 🥃😉
+2 here. Cheers. 🥃
Great video guys! 🍻
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers. 🥃
Good content and very artsy video.
Thanks for watching. Cheers. 🥃
