Fishing a FAMOUS Bridge With LIVE CRABS for HUGE SHEEPSHEAD!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 11 січ 2023
- This famous bridge has some of the largest Sheepshead I've ever seen! In this video I head out kayak fishing around bridges for sheepshead. The bait of choice for this trip is live fiddler crabs. It only took a couple of minutes for us to start hooking up with sheepshead on nearly every cast!

Here I am thinking you're the Flounder whisperer, and SURPRISE you're putting on a masterclass on catching convicts. One of things I love about the channel is you're a conservationist at heart. Not scraping barnacles to protect the future of the ecosystem is something I never even considered. Raising the collective cognition, love it man!
🙌 🙌
Thanks brother! Yeah it took me a while to realize some of my best spots were drying up and when I looked harder I realized all the barnacles were gone from people chumming the pilings. There may not be much to it but it’s my theory anyway lol
Leave you boat in the water for 3 to 7 days it will have barnacle’s all over the haul . They grow so rapid it will blow your mind
Your spots are not drying up man. They are thick around the bridge’s during spawn. Record your best days , tide , temperature, date .
Boom! That was an AWESOME video brother! You put on a dang gum clinic yesterday! I did not see one dink caught!!! Great job as always brother! Thank you again for all that you do for the sport that we love!!!
Man I appreciate you brother, can’t wait for the next trip! Had a blast out there!!
This how it is in Tampa. We would go down to the bridge and climb down jetty catch massive sheepshead.
Nice!!
Wow! Great fish.
Thanks brother!
Great catch and release.. I try to teach my grandkids about that every time we fish. Love the action and great video .. keep them in there so often and let them make more for us to catch and enjoy the fight.
Thank you sir!
What a day! Looks like yall had a blast!
Man it was awesome
Call me when it's time to eat!!! I will be on the way!!! Don't eat 'em all!!!!!! Awesome fishing!!!!!
Lol right on!!
AWESOME video brother! Love the camera angles. Those convicts were stacked up!
Man they were so thick! Thanks brother!!
Anyone who says they’ve never put a fish back with the hook still in it, is lying😂😂. Tight lines!
😂 I know I’ve done it a few times lol
Or have never been fishing
Oh come on man 🤦🏻♂️ guess you don’t make mistakes
@@80Smetalrox I see the pros make mistakes like this all the time, I guess your better than them. Lighten up a little bit man, it’s ok to laugh a little
@@southernsalt I’ll admit it….I did it yesterday lol. But that probably won’t make the video footage.
Dude, start catching, cleaning, cooking and eating them. Now that would make for a truly exciting video.
I’ve done them, nobody watched them 😂
Really fun fishing! Awesome video
Thanks brother it was incredible out there!
I wish I was there with you. Awesome!!! "Great job!"
🙌 thanks man!!
I've been hearing about how good SheepsHead are since the 60's. When I was young I would hear about old men fishing for Sheepshead, and now I are one. Definitely put up a good fight.
Man they’re good fight and a ton of fun!!
Oh man, some nice sheepshead..❤️❤️🎣🎣🐟🐟👍
Thanks brother!!
I’ll have to wait until June until the giants return to my area. Y’all having so much fun.
Love it brotha! Jesus, you caught a mess of nothing but big ones!!!
Man I’ve never seen anything like it lol. I’ve got to get back over there lol
We use to boil them like you do crawfish and crabs. They have alot of bones. Definitely fun to catch.
Man I’ve never heard of boiling fish but I’ll definitely look into it!
I've been wanting to do that
If you try it let me know how it goes!
Nice work broskis! I should’ve kept my yak. Didn’t see your video about why most people don’t like kayak fishing til after I sold it. All those reasons were so me! Lol. Gotta get another skiff.
Lol man I wish I could of got a trip in with you while you had it, I always got a spare as long as you got the time lol
Man, that looks like so much fun...
And the best eating too!
It’s definitely one of my favorite things to do this time of year
Good video
I would have had a hard time letting my buddy take the 22" fish home. It has the big fish genes you want to have passed on to its young-ins.
I really appreciate the tip you provided about the missing barnacles on the pylons.
Thanks man I appreciate it and try to drop good tips in most of my videos. We through the 22” back in the water for another day. He was released unharmed
I've got to try fishing a spot like that with a fly rod, sinking line, and a crab fly. I bet it would be a hoot. I'm just picturing laying down a cast in between those pilings and counting it down.
Oh man that sounds fun!
Take an old green with a red dot h&h on a jig head with a small piece of shrimp and jig the pilings. We smoke em at the platforms in Venice!
Nice I’ll have to check that rig out!
OBX , NC, scrape mussels off pier pilings , 8 lb n up 👍 , put small clusters on hook. We use # 10 or #12 trebble hooks. 2 on a rig
I’ve never heard of using trebles for sheep’s… interesting
Enjoy your videos a bunch brother!
Thanks brother!
Great action
🙌 🙌
Those over 20" are the spawning females. Great release and great video.
Thanks brother, absolutely agree!
ohhh new video!!! starting with a monster
Yessir!!
You need to come here to the Eglin AFB area and show us how to catch some sheepshead here. Oh the sad part here is that all of our bait shops are out of fidler crabs, and didn't have much luck with shrimp at all. Love your videos.
Thanks man! I fish around the Shalimar area a few times a year I might head that way soon!
Awesome video man! We tore them up as well at Ingalls yesterday.
Man I’m hit that area soon, I’ve heard of some good ones there!
Take a flat head small shovel, scrape the pilling 1 or 2 times. Barnacles are the dinner bell .
But what happens if I scrape all the barnacles off the bridge pilings? No more food for fish… fish leave… I lost a good spot. Just my thoughts, maybe I’m wrong
@@southernsalt your not trying to clean the pilings. If you spent the rest of your days scraping barnacle’s you would not put a dent in the barnacle population .
Love your Videos. Man..Been one of your beginning Subscribers . Shaun should be letting those big breeders go. They don't eat near as good + it helps preserve the " so called trash fish I've been fishing for ..for 50 yrs..now headed to same fate as every other inshore species in Florida.
Appreciate it man!
Best tasting fish 👍🤛🎣⚾️
🙌 🙌
Awesome !!
🙌 🙌
You had an amazing day catching those sheepshead! Where were you fishing and what do they taste like? I love fish but never tried them. Thanks for another great video 👍
Sheepshead are amazing table fare. They are one of the best inshore fish in our waters to eat.
Use barnicals really gd free bait
I’ve used them before I just like showing the viewers different options
Never heard where your out of! Great video!
I fish out of Alabama
LET’S GOOOO!!! 🚀🚀🚀
💪 🙌
Love ur show
Thank you!
That bridge looks very familiar 🤔
Ok
Caught my limit there a few weeks ago. Mississippi sheep are built different
I agree! Insane fishing there
Wate a minute u do charters I'll be checking u out
Yes sir!
What’s a googan?
How do you tell the difference between a puppy drum and a sheepshead?
The overall shape is different but the biggest difference is in the face, sheepshead have teeth and puppy drum have whiskers under their chin.
15 limit? what state are you in?
I've always caught them on dead shrimp
I think I’ll try that soon. Maybe do a comparison video
Definitely
🙌
I use oysters for them great video!
Heck yeah, great bait for them! Maybe a oyster vs. Barnacles Vs. crab’s coming soon?!
@@southernsalt that would be awesome!
🙌
Man that's awesome. I want to go catch some sheepshead so bad..living up in north Georgia, I don't get to do it near as much as I'd love to..
QUESTION... do you ever fish WEEKS BAY or FISH RIVER?
My best friend has a house 4 miles up fish river and I'll be going there as frequent as possible. Looking for tips and tricks of that area. It is pretty solid brakish water, catching bass along with reds a lot of the times. Wandering if sheepshead will go up in the brakish water.
THANKS again for the great content and helping me live my fishing vicariously thru your videos.
I fish weeks bay regularly throughout the year. Good fishing in there especially spring and fall.
@@southernsalt
Outstanding, thank you.
I already love the Dauphin island side. Can’t wait to get this side figured out.
Do you use yozuri line?
Suffix 832 line
@@southernsalt lol only few lines out there that can handle such fish
Live shrimp and caught em on fiddlers but not on the bite y'all on.
Right on! I use live shrimp as well, I’m thinking about doing a comparison video of the 2 to see which one picks up more bites.
What kind of kayak do you have it looks very nice
Hobie Lynx, I love it!
Insane to see one of my favorite UA-cam anglers fish the bridge I’ve been fishing all winter too cool man glad you killed them
Heck yeah man! I will be fishing there again soon!
@@southernsalt they have a small sheepshead tournament in the area next Saturday. Will be my first tournament I’ve ever entered. I love your tournaments videos. I appreciate the content!
Thanks man I appreciate all the support of the channel!! Good luck in the tournament!
Now that’s a string of legit size Sheeps. What state is this?
Man definitely one of my best days!
So what famous bridge was you guys at in the gulf, just curious
What size line was you fishing with
10 pound
Some videos you cook them up and some good videos you don't why not?
Where was y'all fishing? 😂
*were 😂
Mud crabs
🙌
Love using mud crabs when fidddlers are not available
Love using fiddlers when can't find mud crabs. Down here ( Tampa Bay area) mud crabs are sheep candy. Sheeps will spit out a fiddler if a mud crab floats by.
Really?? Dang I might be wrong but I feel like it’s the opposite here on the upper GC. I might do a side by side to see which is better
That would be a cool video... I'll tune in for that for sure
This video has everything but the DOGONE HOODWINK !!!
😂 😂 I knew I should of threw it in there lol
😂😂😂
Ok lol
What’s the name of the bridge
Railroad bridge going across Bay St Louis, MS
Hooks frist man hooks frist
