What a cool design!
EckhartsLadder only if the new trilogy had this amount of imagination
I agree, If this was the standard imperial TIE it would be a lot cooler
The Lone Wanderer Disney lost all sense of originality years ago....
HI watch your videos
Amphibious Kilo boy that meme's just isn't gonna die any time soon huh?
I'm continually blown away by your crazy 3D Modelling skills, that takeoff sequence was amazing. Really love this design.
I completely agree. By the way, thanks for recommending EC's video on Twitter.
Could you do a video on the miranda class
+Someone 1282 Ditto on the Miranda Class video. Make it so.
TheVeritas1 ditto?
it's a word that basically means agreement, or "same"
aaaand now your design is a real one lmao, TIE Dagger
I mean, triangular TIE wings have been around since the OT came out when kids drew their own ships, and the TIE Dagger concept appeared in the TFA artbook, which predates this video as well
Only downside is that it lacks the superior FO color scheme because they gotta hit that sweet reset button and keep retelling same same story forever and ever...
I'd love to get a reaction from him. I mean, were they both independently inspired by something? Was this his design and they approached him and offered collab money? Did they just rip someone off? This design is far superior to the Dagger.
I'm convinced lucasarts just harvests this stuff off the internet wholesale and simply says "it's Star Wars lol" if challenged.
@@Gigas0101 No, in fact EC Henry ripped this design from The Art of the Force Awakens :)
@@eyepatchpirate7726 all official sources I've found say the tie dagger design was only released earlier this year, no need to be a smarmy prick.
I love it. It does look like the new tie fighter from the episode 9 leaked poster.
Oh the hope and the irony!
It is
This is what the First Order TIE should have been
Bailey Glyde this would make the sequels that much better. Kindve don’t like how they still use classic x wings and ties
ZevriunGames But the Resistance doesn't use legacy X-wings, they used modernized T-70 X-wings
TheReal Lifehacks but to be fair, aside from minor differences, there was not really a new and exciting design
Bailey Glyde Well would the New Republic really throw away their best design? I'd consider the X-wings to basicly be like the F/A-18 Hornet, the T-70 X-wing and T-85 to be like the F/A-18 Superhornets, it makes more sense for the fledgling new republic to upgrade the X-wing design instead of replacing it
TheReal Lifehacks yea
Yeah but it makes less of an interesting story
I like this version the TIE. The sort of "fringes of the empire" idea is pretty neat too. I could see half a dozen of these and a Raider Class securing a backwater planet no problem.
I love the bullseye shape of the main engine. It looks just like a Hall effect thruster, which for those who don't know is a real-world ion engine.
Super cool design!
Disney: hey cool design
“Adds into episode 9”
Concept art for The Force Awakens: Am I a joke to you?
@@optillian4182 yes, except for the sheild generation buster weapon. Man I need one.
rebels are already trying to steal plans of this design
And many Bothans died trying to bring us this information...
And when they get and make them, they HAVE to include the rebel paint scheme and some other means of telling them apart from imperial ones, otherwise friendly fire would be an issue.
@@mrbuttocks6772 Just turn off friendly fire LOL! :P
@@Corvus__ Shame the EA Battle Front doesn't have that option. At least I think it doesn't.
@@mrbuttocks6772 Even if it did, I don't buy or download EA products.
make the perfect star destroyer
Yep
The resurgent-class comes close to a "perfect" star destroyer. If we take a nornal imperial I or II, good luck. They lool cool and intimidating, but from a military standpoint they are absolut garbage. They lack good defence, especially AA, bridge is too exposed, engines are vulnerable... etc etc
The Ascendancy Star Destroyer design from "Thrawn's Revenge" is a pretty good place to start.
Spacedock already did!
m.ua-cam.com/video/3CLc9Ki9EAI/v-deo.html
Perfect star destroyer is a fucking circle with guns all around
Looks like Disney liked your design. Did you happen to see the TIE Dagger that’s going to be in episode 9?
They liked this design but that happened before this video came out. There was already concept art for episode 7, in which a TIE Fighter with triangle wings appeared. And this video is from 2016. So he also didn't invent a TIE Fighter with this shape.
You did it man, this design is in the rise of Skywalker
This design is SOOOO good. I really like the wing rotation and the little Astromech droid.
Taylor Hancock maybe two astromechs.
I think one improvement would be allowing the wings at the top to curve slightly inwards for atmospheric flight. But yes, a very nice touch.
oh look a kerbal! what are you doing in the star wars universe, little guy? oh yeah, right. my X-wing copy i built glitched and flung you away. sorry
This is probably the most tacti-cool of all the TIE fighters!
Tacticool or just a jolt?
Not a Jolt, but a Jolt re-skin...
Nah, not a jolt, it's to fancy, maybe a stryfe reskin
dan lovejoy no it’s a jolt reskin dammit
i have to disagree the TIE/sf is piloted by the First Order's elite Special Forces, you can't get more Tacticool than "Speshaal Farces" :D
I've never been a fan of tie fighters until this one and ur tie bomber.
Dude, if you had a Shapeways store, I'd totally buy a scale model of this! Especially if the wings could rotate and the lower hatch could open for diorama possibilities! In fact, I'd be down for buying all your designs!
This is the sort of thing I wish the First Order had in the new trilogy.
They actually have an almost identical design as concept art but then it got rejected.
CT-1999 can we go anywhere with out hate on the sequels
It’s like the hate from 1999-2005 all over again
A clone and battle droid interesting.
Wish granted
@@davidthewhale7556 the sequels are bad films just like the prequels but for different reasons.
however unlike the prequels, they are also bad star wars movies, as in they made decisions that don't make sense in-universe.
additionally unlike the prequels, they are either lazy (force awakens) or try too hard to be 'subversive' as if subverting automatically makes a good movie.
@EC Henry, you might wanna check the new Tie design revealed from the cover of the Rise of Skywalker Visual Dictionary.....lets just say it looks mighty familiar....
I just saw it, very similar.....
Jack Carter They already were sampling this style in Force Awakens concept art. Check it out.
Disney did not steal the design. Just because they both have triangular wings does not mean the design was stolen.
@Jack Carter
You're right, it is a basic shape. One of the MOST OBVIOUS POSSIBLE SHAPES.
Im pretty sure he made a vid concerning this topic about his tie vector and the official tie dagger
NOBODY makes UA-cam videos breaking down their Star wars 3D models. PLEASE make more of these!
Congratulations EC Henry! Your TIE Vector has now been place in the poster of Episode 9
The engine is cool, but you do know what TIE stands for right?....
JK I don't mind, the tie bomber has four anyway.
Sure but we have quad-bikes despite how stupid that name is.
The two concentric rings in the engine exhaust could actually be two separate engine exhausts so still being twin ion eng...
I like to think of it as "Twin-Ion Engine" Rather than "Twin Ion-Engine" The whole rear assembly on a TIE, including that supposed "hatch" is one single Twin-Ion Engine with two thrust nozzels.
Richard Collins cool...
You can have more than one engine powering a single thruster.
Since it's multirole and has thicker wings, could also use the wings to mount heavier cannons for busting ground targets. Also I'd consider putting the wings on a gimbal so they can rotate on multiple axis, so instead of the wings acting like two big airbrakes during turns you could rotate them in atmospheric flight to generate lift and reduce drag during maneuvers while also making them control surfaces and allowing the big cannons to be angled downward for strafing runs. Really love the design!
It's amazing and I really liked the idea of an astromech. We don't see them in actual ships for the enemy.
Just when I thought I'd seen every TIE fighter iteration possible, you have come up with something completely new and original. Kudos.
Great design but I feel Tarkin would be like....i'm going to stop you right there this doesn't fit with my doctrine. Then on your way out saying cheap fu- Thrawn walks up and is like hold on your design interests me.
LOL. Too true.
Grand Admiral Thrawn, We meet again.
Counselor Gallius Rax well if it isn't Mr. Lets burn our loyal Imperial homeworlds and shortdick any chance of crushing the Rebellion...
Grand Admiral Thrawn oooh Good One Sir.
Very funny, Thrawn...Athleast we can both agree this design is interesting...
You should make a playlist out of this
There's a new TIE Fighter for Episode 9 called the TIE Dagger that has triangular panels like yours. There are small differences, but it's the same outline.
This looks fantastic! I think with the backstory behind it and the rotating capability of its wings, this would actually make for a really good First Order TIE Striker.
omg...... i love it, no really this is actual beginning too seem like my favorite tie fighter design!
Did you shoot first?
Also aren’t you dead.
Pretty neat! Perfection through simplicity - that's what great engineering is all about. Very much unlike the supposedly most advanced TIE, the Defender - which I think is anything but elegant.
cod3r1337 thrawn wanted a fighter capable of doing what takes a squadron of normal ties to do. So that's why it is expensive and complicated.
@@barrybend7189 That's also why a fleet of TIE fighters were mashed together with a hot glue gun to make one.
Fantastic design. You checked just about all the boxes. From WWII inspiration, to trying to simplify certain aspects, as well as the overall feel and tone it invokes. Good stuff.
Congratulation! You guessed the design of the new Rise of Skywalker tie fighter LOL
This is why I love your channel. Excellent design!
lol i simplified wings, they rotate now.
Good point, haha - I actually did think about that as I was saying it. I mean simple in basic shape - not in function or detail.
Why not use a gyro seat in the cockpit so it lands on the wings but the top hatch is still there.
Empire dont care so much abount pilots, dont be ridiculous.
You could still make it a triangle and have them fixed, just rotate it so one side is always parallel with the ground, have its longest side be on the bottom and shift it up a bit. Besides, TIEs are really supposed to hang from racks; I get the impression landing on their wings is a last-ditch sort of thing... at least in Legends.
EC Henry I love the WW2 throwback camouflage. However, a better visual camouflage that is more versatile and more effective is the light gray that the US uses on its aircraft, which happens to be the original TIE Fighter color.
Now it made it to the rise of skywalker, cause it look´s like a tie dagger
I actually love all parts of this. The long range fighters with the ability to launch, travel three system, attack a target, and then return is genuinely one of my favorite parts of Star Wars and it’s strategy.
Better and more creative than anyone working on the TIE FO's came up with lol
airsoftermatt22 “we made the the original tie fighter”
And?
“And they have better guns”
And?
“They have shields and hyperdrives and a second gunner with a bottom rotating turret”
Oh so all ships now have this?
“...weeeell, only the special units have them, the vast majority still has slightly less shitty original tie fighters”
...
“We also remade the tie interceptor that’s more angular and much larger a target and only made one!”
...you’re fired
Actually they made an almost identical design (see TFA Concept art book), it just got rejected...
Woah, ok your TIE Vector looks a lot like the new TIE pictured in the freshly leaked supposed Ep IX poster (bottom right corner)
Yeah i noticed that too
You nailed the look of a corsair, thats the first thing that came to mind when I saw it.
A very impressive ship. Fits perfectly in SW.
I like the design. You placed alot of thought behind a back story. I would like a model with some sort of stats. Those game players will really like to field it.
A TIE fighter design so great, someone at Disney decided to basically lift it and plaster it onto the new Episode 9 poster.
“Let me know what you think”
I think Disney is screwing up every minute they don’t hire you. Your stuff is so cool and well thought out. Keep up the great work, lifelong Star Wars fan, you keep making it fun.
I've only seen this video and the one on your resistance y-wing, but my mind is completely blown.
Crazy details
"Variable Geometry" Tie Vector makes it sound like a Gundam.
Zeta Tie
TIE-14A
More like Macross or a F-14 and the Panavia Tornado fighters with variable swing wings.
the Variable Geometry self-propelled droid fighter exists in star wars (the vulture droid)
I adore the blue and white paint scheme. It makes it seem sort of like a patrol you'd see in a marine type environment like Skariff
I get more nostalgic star wars excitement from watching these videos and listening to your thought process behind the designs and lore than I do watching the sequel trilogy. Awesome work man!
Beautiful, simple and modernized. I love it. Great job, dude.
Hey just to let you know I just watched Star Wars rise of Skywalker final trailer, I’m pretty sure Disney just jacked your custom tie fighter design. If you go to the final trailer on UA-cam and at the 1:53 to 1:56 in the trailer you’ll see a tie fighter with triangular Tie foils come in then out of the shot.
They didn't, this design already appeared in the concept art for episode 7.
I just rewatch the final trailer to Rise of Skywalker, and I saw you TIE fighter in it!
That is a sweet looking ship. Love the WWII influence. Very appropriate.
A year ago Henry calls the TIE Dagger design. Should hit them up.
TIE Fighter, more like TRI-fighter, amirite?
GeeZeRFroG Well there already is a Tri-Fighter
And it's a separatist droid ship
No, SIE fighter (Single Ion Engine)
They heard you. A year later and I am watching the IX poster. It has this ship❣️
Absolutely the coolest tie fighter I've ever seen! This should be cannon. ... love the paintjob
i'd love to see a spaceship building tutorial or at least a general guild-line or overview of techniques. Also, as one 3D Modeler to another, i'd LOVE to see a compare and contrast of Star Wars ship aesthetics to Star Trek ship aesthetics by someone with an eye for that sort of thing.
So recently the Rise of Skywalker Visual Dictionary was leaked and it looks like there is a TIE fighter in the movie that has the exact same design as what you made here. It's called the TIE Dagger and is on the cover page.
Not exactly the same design. Actually, the only similarity I've noticed was the shape of the wings. The wings in the Tie Dagger are attached towards the end, whereas the Tie Vector has wings attached more to the middle.
All of the thought you put into this is very evident - I really like this concept!
I love it. the creativity that you have for conjuring the engine, and just about all the practical thinking in its design. Also such impressive work with the models.
Oooh, I really love this design. It’s still obviously a TIE, but the nuances make it way more awesome than it looks at first glance.
One thing I might say it was missing as regards versatility is any form of concussion or heat-seeking missile. Maybe if you angled the wings inward a little you would have the room to add those, or if the top forward section of the wings could lift to reveal a rack of missiles (like the vulture droids in Revenge of the Sith).
Also, quick question: you mentioned what 3D modeling software you use, but is that the same software you made those GREAT animations with? Thanks, and keep up the amazing work!
Christopher J. Abbott. In the bottoms of the wings/pylons are what look like hard points, I expected him to mention those for use with mission specific weapons.
Interesting that you'd bring this up! I actually considered adding missiles under the pylons.
Hm, a removable pod that can clamp onto the wings? Something like the torpedo "rollbar" on the Reliant/Miranda (Star Trek 2). Heck, with these kinda needing to be versatile, there could be things like sensor pods, too. Just hand the pods out to sectors that need them and not have to worry about more specialized ships.
I'll agree with the other repliers, you could easily mount individual missiles on the larger pylons. In fact, that seems like the sort of cheap solution the Empire would work with, even with a more expensive fighter like this.
Looks like this made it's way into the new poster!
Just by looking at it and your description, I've been getting "budget TIE-Defender with Legends touch" feeling... which is great!
*Your design DEFINITLY deserves to be put into Canon on the fore-front! Hope it someday does it!!!*
Bruh just seen this Ship in the leaked episode 9 poster lmao ur design is soo good that Lucasfilm was like "yo bro dis stuff actually top quality I want a slice of that cake"
No, they didn't copy it.
Dude I could swear I saw something like this in the rise of skywalker poster
I think I would have had it land on it's back instead of tilting it's wings, with the chair assembly tilting instead (sort of like some of the Slave 1 toys). Probably use a cylindrical TIE bomber style cockpit so that some living space could be incorporated. And also, a gunner's position, with the primary weapons mounted on a turret to increase effectiveness against enemy small-craft.
All in all, a neat concept. I could definitely see some specialist "Hunters" from the ISB using this sort of all-rounder to hunt down leads (and even unsupported targets in some cases) out on frontier worlds.
Jared Maddox so you’re saying you want a heavy version of this tie ?
The materials on the model are extremely good. Also, I love the detail on the wings and the astromech is a nice touch.
Dude, I love you. Where has you're channel been all my life? Keep up this work, it's awesome!
Would love to see you do a Defiant redesign if or when you ever do another Trek redesign.
TIE Vector as TIE Dagger in The Rise of Skywalker
That is the best TIE fighter I have seen. Love it.
I love how this looks, and i also love what it implies about the politics and design philosophy of the imperial frontier
Love the idea but I would curve the wings (like the advanced/interceptor) to add aerodinamics to the triangle, and while on the ground the wings could be used as cover.
The sound of a TIE engine is literally tom from tom and jerry screaming.
That's badass. I love the ability to land and get out without exterior support. Very well done.
You've done a great job never let go of your passion
Cool. Now can you please redesign say the VF-1 from SDF Macross.
Great idea.
I want him to do it out of curiosity as Shoji Kowamori was pretty good at real robot designs.
Barry Bend Kawamori is real stupid with everything else right now though. Delta is the proof.
TheRibbonRed
Don’t you dare blame Kawamori San for Macross delta he has nothing to do with that project, he is working on other Anime project, the people responsible for the Macross Delta anime are totally different crew, the last production work he did was Macross is on Frontier, so I don’t care what think of Kawamori San he’s still mecha designer god to me. 😡
Reminds me of Doritos.
Tie Dorito
Well this is a BOLD design after all.
tie dorito
Wow, I really love that the fighter concept. Great work!
This is and fan-fricking-tastic design. I LOVE that it can land almost anywhere it freaking wants to by rotating it's wings, that's a far superior design that the folding wings on the one from The Mandalorian.
Hey EC Henry I don't know if your read your comments or not but I just noticed your TIE fighter made it to the rise of Skywalker now I don't know if they originally designed adore you were in somehow in contact with them love to know more
This is really cool! How did you make it?
Nice and also congrats! Your new tie design has made it to Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker
I love your videos. Great editing and content!
TDE Fighter. Twin Doritos Engines Fighters
note: yeah I know, commenting late.
Love the thought in your design as always, however I think itd work better if the guns were modular, lasers/blasters is a good mixed loadout, but if one (or both) pair(s) could be swapped for other weapons with ease, it would fit a multi role even better, or indeed allow a combined arms squad of the same base craft, a mix of torpedoes/missiles/ions would allow punching thru shields and disabling of a larger craft for example.
Maybe call in the T.I.E. Mu (multi role) if that designation hasnt been used on the innumerable kitbashes)
Also, since its got varible geometry wings why not go a step further and have the solar panels fold out and turn into control surfaces for atmospheric flight, basically bending at an angle in the center.
That's a beautifully designed craft. Well done, look forward to seeing more of your designs here 👍
More thought went in to this then most other SW designs, very nice work!
I came back here because The Rise Of Skywalker visual dictionary shows that this ship is in the movie and called the ‘TIE Dagger’. Wierd...
You did them a favour. They used your ship design for The Rise Of Skywalker.
How do you feel about that?
I had this design in my head. For the wings and the thruster and the arm connectors. Awesome to see it rendered somewhere! Really cool!
I really like it! It has a more realistic, practical feel to it, Bravo!
Did Disney use this for the "Tie Dagger" in ep. 9?
How's it feel to have this TIE in ep 9?
Ask the people who made the concept art for episode 7, I guess.
Loving this design! keep up the good work!
Love this design, reminds me of the Tie with folding wings when you talked about variable geometry.
Uh, not to alarm you, but they took this design for the tie dagger in the rise of skywalker, look it up
Well it's been confirmed to be a new type of TIE fighter known as the "Dagger" only difference is the Dagger is more red and has another triangle. I don't know if I'm this is allowed or not because it seems they just ripped your design to a point.
They didn't.
Don’t mind me just coming back to this Beauty of a ship.
I love how it takes off from the landing pad and how the wing panel rotates for forward flight, I hope I get to see this in a little future Star Wars movie or video game. 👍
