I know these records have been demolished in the ever growing speedrunning scene in the years since this video. But for me, this is the speedrunning I know and love, just a bunch of people in a room watching a legend completely obliterate a beloved game in some of the most impressive ways imaginable.
If I can be perfectly honest, I completely miss the smaller GDQ's. Been watching since the beginning and I miss the "just a group of friends being awesome" vibe. It is way too commercialized and celebrity oriented now. Feels like some bullshit Hollywood production where the point is getting publicity to grow the channels of the runners, rather than the games and the charity.
@@GhostDrow I agree on this! Been watching since AGDQ12. When speedrunners turned into so called "content creators" trying to make big money, instead of just streaming/playing/speedrunning games, that's where real speedrunning kinda died. sad
well, actually probably way more, I have almost a thousand hours in CS:GO and I don't believe I played it much, he's played this game since he was a kid actively
Watching this run again in 2020 even though I watched it live years ago. Such good times and great memories. :) Also makes me wonder where Sig is today, wherever he is I hope he's doing well! I'm sure lots of people miss his streams!!
This speedrunner did an amazing job. I was flabbergasted almost the entire time and couldn't stop watching, so addictive. And how many tricks and much depth is there to this game?! Amazing as well. I love by the way how this community seems, supporting each other and providing commentary for outside viewers as well. GREAT initiative.
This is an amazing run. It's cool to see Sigler in action. The emotions... This game is hard to speed run and I give him props for his work. Excellent work Sig. Keep it up. WR Kreygasm
This is why i have major respect for speed runners, people who stick to games and learn every inch of them and playing them over and over. I've always wanted to get into it
@@KallyNui Lol yea they are now but 2 years ago they weren't. I remember around that time I called cheese out on it on twitter asking why he doesn't do it if it is way faster, and he full came back saying it wasn't faster and not worth, then he started doing it a few months later haha
man i love this gdq stuff, the people come together to play for a good cause, and im pretty sad about this viewers who lost beloved ones to cancer, life is hard but because of a handful of people it gets better, even when you feel bad
A friend of mine lost his father due to cancer. I am proud on you guys for setting this up. I can't imagine the pain he was going through back then, and I hope that Cancer will someday be erased from this planet... or at least that there is a cure against it.
I don't think anyone that wasn't old enough to see this live will ever understand how important this run was to speedruning history. Not even just speedrunning history, but twitch and livestreaming history in general. Siglemic was the most famous speedruner in the world and 70/120 were the most popular speedrun categories in the world. He was showing up in person and showing his face to the world for the first time. And he was surrounded by many of the other most famous speedrunners in the West. It was mindblowing that this was even happening. Essentially everyone on twitch was watching this. If you went to look at the other highest viewed streams it was all just other streamers reacting to it with a facecam.
Absolutely amazing. I can hardly believe my eyes that someone can have that kind of precision and complete memory of the whole game. He did in 2 hours what took me years to actually complete in its entirety...
@@danmedeiros6676 Pretty sure the original comment was talking about how boring the run was, i think. I was saying that comment has aged poorly because back in the day people didn't like sm64 runs but now its the most ran game

CubingDrumz also the original post never said he was awesome simply because he donated, you added that into it, and so what if he donated $100 dollars, sounds pretty petty of me to say someone isn't as awesome, based on how much less they chose to donate at the time.
Hahahaha "if everyone high fives each other", thats a good one, these guys are doing something really wonderful, my grandmother, who died of cancer, use to love playing games with me, she'd be so proud of these guys if she were here today. Great job, I wish I hadn't missed the event, I'd give every cent I had toward the cause. *Faith in humanity restored.*
Correct me if I'm wrong, but at 41:45 does a donor say, "my sister had vaginal cancer but I still love her so much"? If I'm indeed hearing this correctly, does this donor make a presumption that vaginal cancer generally precludes a person from being loved?
I honestly have no problem with sig not saying much of what he is doing, while i appreciate knowing the tricks, i can also appreciate just watching a master perform his craft.
I thought the same thing from another video! I believe he is a member of the same soul fractal energies as Keanu. They process thought and hold energy in their voices and bodies similarly. And on top of that, they both are masters of the matrix!-one with Morpheus, and the other with Marious :)
I know these records have been demolished in the ever growing speedrunning scene in the years since this video.
