On 8s my Avanti is off the deck pretty fast no flaps no elevator. Love this bird she is a dream to fly
you are part of the reason why I recently bought a brand new Freewing Avanti, ordered a Wemotec midi 80mm carbon power unit with HET motor and bought a 150amp ESC. Great job and love the video!!

Hi mate awesome model and flying. Im thinking about trying this mod on my avanti. So did you cut the strut past the screw hole that the main gear doors are screwed to. I was having a look at mine and it seems if i cut 8mm off the strut it will take off the hole for the top screw in the main gear doors. Is this what you have done and just left the bottom screw to secure it or did you leave enough of the strut to keep both of those screws for the main gear doors. Many thanks

Interesting. I never had a problem taking off with my Avanti. In fact, it's one of the planes that has the least trouble to take off in our club.
But you carry 33% more battery than me (I fly 6S graphene 4Ah), so I guess you have more compression on the front spring.
Just adding: I saw you also take off with half flaps. If you do that, the angle of incidence of the airfoil is such that even with some nose down attitude, the wing will actually create lift.
--> It should never be an issue to take off with this plane. 🙂

Hey mate, do you know of any difference between the 9 blade fan and the 12 blade fan, My dad and brother have the yellow avanti and I am interested in the red one. I want it to sound as good as ours though lol. I was wondering what's the best motor and fan setup on 6s?

In the past i searched a little and a metal fan with more blades sounds more turbine like. But more blades often also means more amp draw. But I don't fly anymore. "But maybe again in the future"
The most efficient propeller would be an outside mounted one blade propeller 😅
Interesting. I'm looking at a profile of my Avanti, and it sits nose up, even with a 6s, 6000 mAh Lipo. I suspect the grass you fly off may be grabbing the front gear and causing the plane to pitch down. I initially flew off grass without an issue, but not all grass is the same. The field I fly at now has grass my Avanti can not fly off of, because it's thicker (weedier) and tends to grab the nosewheel.

i have no problem with taking off with this plane, they design a slight nose down configuration to help the plane stick the landing, if not the plane will prone to lift bounce and skip.
if it bounces back it means you land too fast. Take it down 40 km/h
Can you extend the nose gear by a few millimetres instead?

This is a bit odd though. We have about 20 Avantis between us in our club and if there is one problem it doesn't have it's taking off from grass.... Could your CG be too far forward? The correct CG (not the one in the manual) balances the Avanti on it's main gear. Basically if you push the tail down, it should want to stay there, but only just. This causes it to rotate much easier on takeoff, and makes for a more neutral knife-edge.
Sure, if your grass is cut to 3cm :) but at our club and other bigger clubs (for bigger jets) sometimes the grass is 6-7cm long and than it becomes hard. My CG is 3cm back from the manual.
@@EDFjetRC I have to admit the grass is kept short where I fly. The big wheels do give it an advantage over other 80mm jets though.
What about smaller wheels on back?
Out of curiosity, what drive did you put into this Avanti? Wemotec or Jetfan?

120 mm for me is awesome.
I have no idea what GPS youre using but sorry to say 272 km/ h looks a little different in my opinion, but still good speed. The main struts are not.longer the problem on high grass is that the front steuts spring loading is too week so the nose goes down.Try 10 degree flap and slowly apply power it will lift off on its on.Juat saing still great video

Camera angle, zoom, field of view through the lens may can trick the eye.
Get the correct center of gravity than the problem goes away .
