DIY Chicken Coop Has Shocking Surprise! (You Have To See How This Works)

  • I built the ultimate mobile chicken coop that goes anywhere. It has every feature you can imagine on a backyard chicken coop. It has water misting, an rv ventilation fan, off-road wheels with a lift system, solar power, and a battery bank plus more! This coop has power so you can even heat it in the winter. It's a luxury DIY chicken coop built the HAXMAN way! I wish I could take credit for the jack and wheel idea on the chicken coop but I saw a picture of a smaller coop online where somebody did something similar. Unfortunately, the builder wasn't identified so I can't give them credit.

      🐔 ingenuity- [ in-juh-noo-i-tee, -nyoo < ]
      - the quality of being cleverly inventive or resourceful; inventiveness:a designer of great ingenuity.
      - cleverness or skillfulness of conception or design: a device of great ingenuity.

🐔 (0:59)- Annals comes from the Latin word annus, meaning year. As the word itself suggests, many annals are yearly records, but this is not always the case. You may encounter the word annals in the phrase “annals of history,” which refers not to one specific historical record but the collection of all recorded history.🐓🤓

🐔 (19:24)- Why is bird poop white?
Actually, bird poop, per se, is not white. Birds, unlike mammals, do not have separate exits for urine and feces. Both waste products are eliminated simultaneously through the cloaca. While mammals excrete nitrogenous wastes mostly in the form of urea, birds convert it to uric acid or guanine, which reduces water loss in comparison. Uric acid thus forms a white sticky paste. So the white part is actually bird pee; it is the dark center that is the poop.🦅🤓

    Awesome coop.
If you're gonna go to the trouble of using wood glue, you might as well use the waterproof Titebond III.
For many years now I've been using Titebond III to paint (with brush or roller) on all surfaces of my outdoor wood projects before I apply paint. It acts like the ultimate primer -- hard and waterproof, and makes the wood last much much longer.

    • @oopsagain1surname

I always thought it would be cool if someone could come up with a roomba type device with programming that would monitor the chickens as the graze and move the tractor over when they're ready. Completely over engineered for a tractor coop, but the idea makes me smile!

Thank you! I have all these tools I don’t know how to use since the kids dad passed last year.
The way you go about explaining when, how and especially WHY is such a relief!
Most of the instructional creators on UA-cam just assume I would know enough to keep up with their narration. Well, it’s very discouraging to get completely lost half way through an instructional because you don’t understand a basic task ☹️

Man, I would absolutely love the plans for this build. It's the way I need to build here in TX for our small yard. Maybe a bit large for our needs, but I love the idea of a tractor / run style that gives them grazing ability and keeps them safe from predators.

A trick I learned when caring sheets of plywood is stand it tall put your back to it, and then put your hands on the edges while squatting just a little bit hold onto it and lean forward, carry it like a backpack. For your driveway, use a good degreaser (we use Zep concrete cleaner), saturate the painted areas and let sit for a few minutes, then use a mild cupped wire brush on your cordless drill at low speed to remove the paint, rinse thoroughly. Go gentle with the wire brush as it'll burnish your concrete if used too aggressively.

I find your videos, so entertaining your whole family but this chicken coop you truly chicked it out! I had my 17-year-old daughter sit down and watch this with me and we were so impressed by your woodworking skills and she is very creative and said mom I want to do that she was amazed by how you made that chicken coup so we have cats and I said you know what you should learn how to build something like that for the cats! If you don’t mind how much did it cost to build that chicked out chicken coup?

Thanks! It's hard to say exactly because I buy for multiple projects sometimes. I would guess about $2k.

Awesome intro (I've fantasized about punting some chickens I've encountered) ;-)
Great incident recreation too. Was there a script for that, or did you just "wing it"?

Thank you. I did not know that the stop on the mitre saw could do that. That makesthingsg that I tried in the past so much easier. The halflap for example, I did not you could do that with it.

Very cool. I'll have to look into the mister you ran in there, I've not seen that before. Is that just because it gets hot? Hoping to do something similar, but I need a bigger tire and an electric lift on those wheels. And one needs to be motorized.

Great video👏 you never fail to disappoint and of course you're freaking hilarious 😂.
Now I have a question ❓ you mentioned you used treated 2×4s and I noticed you painted all sides of the wood.
I was told if you fully paint pre treated wood it will rot from the inside because pretreated wood needs to breath.
Can someone clarify this for me, please🤔🙏.
    Thanks 😊

With the mesh, when you do the inside also do the outside of the coop reason for this it adds double protection for the chickens.

You sir, are the Dad I wish I'd been. Great sense of humor, mad skills, and just based on this video you get a sub! I want to start with a few chickens but time is an issue and a place to put a coop out of the wind (blows almost non stop where I am during the winter and I would feel like crap if I went out and my birds were frozen solid), but it will happen eventually. I love building and do the best I can with limited workspace and tools. I like using old pallet wood I get for free to make things that are useful and don't look bad. Anyways, great video!

Just found your channel and oh my goodness I want one!!! My husband just retired from the army after 20+ yrs and we moved out to the country. I started looking at prices for coops 🤦🏼‍♀️! Shut the front door! Living just a little NW of Fort Hood, (yes I know it’s now Fort Cavazos) I need this coop!! Being an extreme city girl and raising my 3 children (35,27,12) in the city. I am so honored to learn a different way of life and being able to expose my youngest child to it. We have 10 white tail Doe’s and 4 Bucks that come in our yard daily. Once at 6:45 am and then again at 8:10 pm. I go out in the yard with them (about a foot away) and throw some apple corn for them. Goodness knows if I’m not paying attention they let me know!! 🤣 We just started growing herbs and jalapeños. I can’t wait to venture beyond.

I'd almost live in that thing, it's super nice! A veritable chicken mansion! I think I've said this on here in the past, but Crow Calls work Great for driving Hawks off. I bought one, learned to use it, lost it, taught myself how to mimic a Crow and it works. I haven't lost a single bird, to a hawk, since I started. As soon as I hear a Hawk scream I answer them with a Crow call. Sometimes it takes two or three calls but they always bug out and many times I've actually called Crows in. Works Great.

Thank you! That's interesting. I'm going to try a little of everything for the original flock. All of these new birds are black so hopefully if we let them free range they'll be okay.

Their color will help but won't protect them completely. A significant portion of my flock is black, Jersey Giant. I got the larger breed also as a deterrent. I just added geese to my flock again too. I want to see if they are any kind of help too.@@HAXMAN

This may be a silly question but I got to know. What are the big holes in the table for? Beautiful chicken coop. I was going to ask you if those tires were to narrow for a rainy season, but you answered that question. I wish you had the plans for this coop to sell.

Great video, awesome build very professional, love the humor, the best way to keep hawks from attacking your chickens is stretch 50lb test fishing string from one side of your yard to the other criss crossing it! That's all it's gonna take!

I put misting nozzles around the top of the trampoline for the kids. They constantly clog because of the minerals in the water. I ended up using a file meant for carburetor jets to ream them out. The spray is not as fine but they don't care.

  • @CerberusOnFire
    @CerberusOnFire Місяць тому

Great content! One concern with chickens is that they very easily get respiratory issues that result in flu or death. If you start noticing those symptoms, it's likely the water mist emitters doing it. Keeping a dry coop will help avoid it.
