I wasn't to thrilled with this tune,,but heck,,he was experimenting with sound effects. He mastered the Wah Wah and distortion. The cover song,,he recorded that came out a masterpiece,,is Bob Dylan All along the Watchtower. The best song he ever compose and played is Machine Gun,,the Voodoo Sligh Return and every other

I felt the same way about it… wasn’t his greatest performance nor did it do him any justice of his abilities.

He MIGHT have been high, lol. Yeah he was high but that was his lifestyle. I love Hendrix and have a lot of his music. I don't mind that he did it how he wanted to do it and just when you thought he lost the melody, he came right back to it. 😉

Jimi was mimicking the sound of bombs and warfare , as the US was in the Vietnam War. Jimi said he played it that way " not to take away from all that's great in America", but played the way the air was at the time "" the air is slightly static. " Jimi and his bass player Billy Cox, and the rhythm guitarist at Woodstock Larry Lee were all in the 101st Airborn unit of the Army. Larry had just come back from Vietnam a month before Woodstock, and had been shot a steel plate put in his head. ✌🏼
