Everything she sings goes to another level as she has the ability to make these classic tunes her own. As young as she is at 20, her singing is way beyond her years. GTFOH! It's absurd to say drummers alone "created" funk..the bass and guitar were inseparable parts of the James Brown groove, i.e. the pocket. Sure, "Cold Sweat" featured the drums but don't forget the chicken scratch guitar from "There Was A Time" or "The Big Payback" and "Think 73". An elementary version of this funk style can be heard on "Licking Stick" featuring a prominent bass and a complimentary funk rhythm guitar riff.

    • @TheMusicMindset2023
      @TheMusicMindset2023 3 дні тому

      Taking it too seriously! Clyde Stubblefield’s drumming was absolutely a foundational element of funk, but it's true that he wasn’t the only factor. However, without the pocket rhythm he and other drummers like Jabo Starks laid down, the signature grooves of funk would not have been possible. period. Before funk developed in the late '60s and early '70s, popular music-like soul, R&B, jazz, and rock-was often more structured and less rhythmically syncopated. Stubblefield's fatback beat drove the creative process, influencing how guitars, horns, and vocals interacted. The groove created by the drums allowed these other elements to make sense within the context of funk. It was the beat itself that made crowds move, even without the melodic instruments. The groove became the essence of the music, and that’s what made funk revolutionary. Without that beat, the "stank" of funk wouldn’t have existed. So, while many factors contributed to the rise of funk, the rhythmic backbone provided by the drums was undeniably crucial to its formation.

    Jimi was mimicking the sound of bombs and warfare , as the US was in the Vietnam War. Jimi said he played it that way " not to take away from all that's great in America", but played the way the air was at the time "" the air is slightly static. " Jimi and his bass player Billy Cox, and the rhythm guitarist at Woodstock Larry Lee were all in the 101st Airborn unit of the Army. Larry had just come back from Vietnam a month before Woodstock, and had been shot a steel plate put in his head. ✌🏼

      If he said that, he decided to rewrite himself into the story for some kind of clout possibly. The facts are just the way it is presented. Commodore history says Orange and the rest of the band came up with the groove in a jam session but had trouble with lyrics. They later acknowledge it was King's wife who really penned the words. If you click this link and scroll down to the track listing section, you can see where her name appears for the song. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodores_(album)

    The Funky drummer break always amazed me. How the hell was it done?! Clyde is credited of course but it almost sounds like 2 drummers. The snare and the high hats are so busy I can't see 2 hands doing all that... when Clyde played it again and other drummers tried to replicate it, it definitely was not the same... either way the shit was funky and Clyde and Jabo deserve all due respect and then some. Btw, I'm not a drummer so I can admit that I just may not know what the hell I'm talking about. 😂✌🏾
