I used to be a funeral director and we buried people in Mount Carmel Cemetery all the time. I would always stop and visit Capone before I left.
I used to want to be a mortician but changed and became a medical examiner and Forensic Pathologist. Have a great Thursday 😊
@@leesashriber5097 Really?! I'll be returning back to school to be a Pathologist Tech next year!
Thank you
Michael and Jessica got one of the best shows going on the net love this stuff
They recently vandalized Al Capones grave like a week ago. The spray painted the word “evil” on his headstone
Love how you guys edited in the older footage to show the columns etc. Thanks for all the hard work you do on your channel for all of us.
Thank you for watching…and comments like this mean a lot. Thank you.
Saaaaaaaaaammmeee
My husband and I just took a trip to Las Vegas and visited the Mob Museum. We saw the brick wall, some photos of the massacre and some of the bullets that we’re removed from the bodies. The museum was pretty interesting, there’s a lot to see. I recommend visiting there if you’re in Las Vegas.
Amazing experience. I went in 2018. So interesting seeing the wall from this event. I was in that museum for hours and highly recommend it to everyone.
And there is a speakeasy they will give you a code and when you go down you give them the code and you get in I really want to go sometime.
Al Capone is also the main reason why expiration dates were put on milk cartons/bottles, because his niece grew ill due to tainted milk.. The Capone family actually had a big hand in the dairy industry in the 1930's.
Yeap he was hated and loved by people he had soup lines set up to feed the hungry aswell. And like you said he had expiration dates put on milk bottles. He was in the Dairy business and the liquor business good business man giving the people what they want lol
give thanks to Al Capone every breakfast time
Yes. His brother Ralph was known as “Bottles” Capone because he owned a bottling plant and was involved in the business as a cover.
Interesting!!
@@erickrohn2970 al capone was more complicated than people knew ultimately he was a very astute business man who knew what the people wanted , as well as being ruthless with his business empire.
I always remember the poor dog that was there during the massacre. His name was Highball and he belonged to John May the mob members mechanic who was also killed. It was his constant barking that brought neighbors to the gruesome scene. He was so traumatized they eventually had to put him down. Today would be a different story but being it was 1929...Sad.
I lived in Chicago for years, and I often heard people talk about how dogs were skittish in that part of the street, even refusing to walk past the area, even though the garage itself was gone.
@@dougspidermanhappy I heard that too. 😳
I believe it! When I moved out of my parents to a place up the block, by where my neighbor’s dog got hit by a car, my dog, who I keep ay my parent’s place due to more room for him, almost refuses to budge past that little stretch of rd, when I walk him to my place regularly on my days off.
@@dougspidermanhappy Yes, I go there all the time and I constantly hear a dog barking where the garage stood. It is obvious the dog's soul is haunting that neighborhood. BOW WOW, BOW WOW, BOW WOW.
I live on Miami Beach, FL and I have been to his home here on Miami Beach where he died in 1947. Sadly, the demolition permit have been submitted for his Florida home to be demolished by the new owners in 2023. It's sad that a piece of history will be gone.
From ft Lauderdale I've only been to the "island" in Deerfield beach
😮 Awwww,.. man... that really stinks... if I were a millionaire I would buy it and restore it! Wow...
Great vid. A historian girl on PBS’s “History Detectives” got to shoot one of the two Thompson machine guns ballistically linked to the massacre. she was trying to verify if a shotgun she was investigating was the one also used. She made a compelling case that it was.
I remember that show! You have a good memory. 🎶watching the detectives🎶
That dog which was left unharmed was named "high ball". If that dog could only talk.
I had seen a program that was covering the autopsies of the victims and it was found that some of them ( maybe all ) had chest wounds resulting from the . 45 caliber bullets bouncing off the wall and re - entering their bodies . Great video as always you guys !! , keep up the great work and stay safe out there . ❤ from Baltimore Maryland
Interesting.
I am also from just outside the city of Baltimore
Fun Fact: Al Capones older brother James Vincenzo Capone who changed his name to Richard James Hart was a prohibition agent. So you had a Capone on each side of the law.
HE ALSO WAS IN MOVIES IN HOLLYWOOD THATS HOW THE CAPONE LOCATED HIM AFTER HE HAD LEFT AND BEEN GONE YEARS
Man, that scene from the movie was brutal.
Please Never stop making videos. I learned so much history from this channel.
I was there in June, and the history of not only Al Capone but of the people buried in mt. Carmel, is fascinating. Very beautiful cemetery
My cousin has worked there for 11 years & unfortunately people mess with it CONSTANTLY. 2x/week a crew is dedicated to adding grass/grass seed, or adjusting the mud in front of his grave (due to weather.)
Soooo many people constantly visit his stone (among others, but he's obviously #1) IDK why they made his grave so easy to get to and access, but the traffic never slows down. I have family buried there and it never fails to get worse around the holidays when people are going to visit their loved ones. I guess they feel like "hey, why not check out Capones grave while were here...."
I was born and raised in Chicago. I absolutely loved growing up. Cool , old buildings, great museums and the best food. I moved in 2007 because I got tired of the frigid winters. There is so much history there. I read that the area where the St Valentines Day massacre took place is haunted. Thanks for the story.
When the Massacre site was being demolished in 1967 or 1968,the demolition crew was giving away some of the bricks. My Family had two of them. The site itself was up for Landmark Status, but then Mayor Daley demanded it be torn down.Daley didn,t want any reminders of Capone in Chicago.Mr.Capone himself actually might still be buried at Mt.Olivet.According to historians and my High School History teacher. The Grave stone at Queen of Heaven might be a Cenopath.Who really can say where he really is?Great Video Mike and Jessica, great seeing videos from My old hometown.
Cold for you two ! Always appreciate your content.
I'm glad you guys stuck around after DOTD to make these videos. I've enjoyed them all.
I thoroughly enjoy these videos! To the time machine MARTY!!!!!! I love the way you both articulate these stories.
Great video, as always! My grandmother's neighbor was in Bugs Moran's gang and supposedly just missed the massacre because he was late. One of the few that survived that lifestyle and lived to old age.
You and Jessica are the best storytellers. Love your details on every video you do. Thank you both for taking us with you on your adventures. And as always Happy Halloween
Last week, someone defaced his grave with red spray paint. You can see it still there a little butnwas washed off. Thanks for shedding light on some great history of our home! Love it! ❤️
That was a cool, informative video! I have a grandmother buried in Mt. Carmel, btw. And Capone had a couple of homes in Cicero, Ill as well! Great video!
Thank you for another very cool Grimm life collective episode until next time 👻👻
I'm Italian and I live in Sicily, the history of American gangsters fascinates me a lot, in my family I have immigrant relatives in Chicago at the end of the 19th century but no one that I know of and fortunately a mafioso, I always follow you I really like your channel 😊🇮🇹 🇺🇲
i remember hearing about this but never thought i'd see a video on it
I am intrigued by the mobsters of the 20s and 30s. I grew up in Dallas, Texas. We lived a mile from Bonnie Parker’s old school. A bunch of us kids would go to that school and play around not knowing it’s history.
Chilling to see the area where the garage was!🌛
Michael & Jessica u too be on point yall craft 👌 much love I watch the valentine massacre movie 🎬 last month u guys are super awesome 👌 💖
Brilliant video, showing old photos of the garage next to the modern-day house with the pillars. I love It
Woah! That murder was so cruel! The movie scene really gave me the chills... 😱
Another great video ! Love from the U.K ❤
Excellent video tour of North Clark Street massacre site
Another great video. Lots of mobsters in Mt Carmel. So glad you mentioned the wall being in the Mob Museum in Las Vegas. It is really amazing to see. I think that museum is one of the best museums anywhere. If you haven’t been, it’s a must see when in Vegas. You can actually still eat at Capones favorite restaurant in Chicago. Very cool place, lots of Capone stuff to see there. Good food too!
My father's family lived in Chicago from 1925 till 1937. My grandmother witness the execution of a Irish Monster with a Tommy Gun. She said, " First he had a head, then he didn't." The way she said it with such conviction, that image has stayed in my head for years!
I finally got UA-cam set up on my tv. I'm watching this video right now on my TV and it's awesome
My Great Grandfather would brew sour mash for good old Al Capone during the Prohibition days
cool
That was so interesting. Thank you, Michael and Jessica, for telling this story I never knew. So interesting.
My family brought Al’s body back from Florida along with his brother Ralph, and performed his wake and funeral at Rago Brothers funerals on Western Ave
My grandma was 16 years old and she witnessed the bodies being taken out ! 💔
@@Oshiiiiiiiiiiii Grandma worked in the Baby Ruth factory, she just said she was 16 and saw them remove the bodies.her name was Hattie but her real name was Henrietta Carolina. ( I would be a Hattie too !!! )

you guys are great storytellers. Thanks as always for the hard work
There was a fence in front of the site where the garage was that was knocked down when lightning fell a tree near it earlier this year. I hope the reason that it hasn't been replaced is that they're planning to sell the lot for a condo or something. That's a sacred spot in Chicago.
So cool I’ll have to show my nephew this Vlog he’d love this 😮
The whole cemetery holds other mob people as well.
Love the vibe of your videos and the way you tell a story
Came through with another great video 🔥👍🏻
Thanks for sharing.
Love your vids! Always looking forward to the next one.
Great video thanks brother 💨
Absolutely Fantastic!! You all are doing such a great job. Love this video, I think one of your best!! Love history!
Great video
Thanks guys very interesting video x
There’s a house here in Fontana that Capone supposedly live in for a while. It has a big C on the chimney. Not sure if it’s true or not, but my wife and I have driven out to the house. It’s fenced off now because a family currently owns it, but you can still get a clear view of it from the street.
Awesome video, Michael and Jessica, as always! I've had an obsession with the Mafia for a very long time. That explains a lot about the kind of movies and shows I watch to this day. I wrote my college English essay on The St. Valentine's Day Massacre as our theme was the 1920's. Anyway, I've been looking forward to watching this and you guys never disappoint! Your attention to detail, beautiful shots, editing and well researched information make your videos the best out there!
Great video guys.
Love all this history still loads more of your vids to catch up on thanks so much Michael and Jessica
Excellent video!
It’s so fascinating how those involved were able to take these secrets to their graves.
It's called "Omerta" it's the Mafia's code of silence... you literally live by that.... or,...well... I'm sure you get the idea! :)
Very cool. Thank you.
My family moved to Chicago from sicily in the 1900s.. They had tons of story's about Alphonse and his men.. I am now one of the few of my family still living in Chicago..
Someone in the last week spray painted the word EVIL over his tombstone. I guess they were able to remove the graffiti.
Yes they removed it the same day actually
always wanted to see the site. Thanks
Stephen Graham's portrayal of Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire is some of the best acting I've ever seen. That being said, much of what was shown in that show is dramatized with factual events. But showing Capones family life was a nice twist. It really gave you a better idea of what Capone really was. He wanted to create an empire. And he did it. And honestly, if you were just a regular "joe" and not a gangster, no one was afraid to walk the streets with Capone in charge. It was after his demise, that Chicago started falling apart. Capone took care of his people. How he made his money was one thing, but he did do a lot of good things that people forget about.
Excellent performance by Graham! Even his accent was impressive especially from an English actor.
I Can Feel The Vibes of The Buildings that Tell The Stories of Those Gangster Days with Mr Capone and Bugs Moran! I ❤️It✨
Thanks for doing these videos - really enjoy them all!
I enjoyed this video because it brought me back to learning about Al Capone and the St. Valentines Day Massacre in High School.
Love your videos. Michael your camera work is superb.
Great video, Michael. I love how much detail you put into your videos. I've seen other videos on famous movie and crime scene locations and you my friend, are thee' best. You have talked about coming to the UK. It does not get better than Jack The Ripper. You would love visiting the sights and the pubs
Your theme music rocks! proper!
I just visited Capones grave yesterday.
Love these videos of history
I've been to Mt Carmel cemetery and it's like a who's who of Chicago gangsters including Frank Nitti, 'Machine Gun' Jack McGurnn, Dean O'Banion, and of course Al Capone.
Another great video to add to your collection
Awesome video I have always wanted for this one to be made but to my recollection it never has then you both make this masterpiece thank you
Al was in the prison in Philly too & used to cry out that ghosts of folks he killed or had killed were haunting him.
Supposedly Al had treasure burried somewhere on his Florida's property & in HDG Marlyland. He stayed in the hotel down the street here in Maryland that then turned into a nurseing home & now is a medical building.
The building/home where really good food & wine is still in busness & Al & buds used to eat there & he also stayed at the now American Legion that used to be an in.
the hotel he used to stay at in hot springs arkansas back in the day still advertises the room he stayed in cost like 400 dollars a night hot springs was also a hub for the mobsters used to go to
Excellent video as always guys, great how you lined up the garage photo with the columns.. nice touch 👌
Thank you Carl. The thing I love doing the most are the photo fades of history. It feels like time travel.
Fascinating, thanks for the tour.
I have to admit, I'm hooked on your videos man! I LOVE HISTORY! LOVE HISTORY! Maybe you could do the mysterious death of the young woman who died at the Del Coronado Hotel in San Diego! I'll be watching guys! If you ever come to Oklahoma, PLEASE DROP ME A LINE!

Just wanted to say I absolutely love you guys and your videos! I get to live vicariously through you!
In 9th grade I did a PowerPoint presentation on the st valentine's day massacre. Complete with bullet holes and gunshot sounds for the different facts that came up. This was in 1997. Probably couldn't get away with that these days! Great video as always!

I feel that the old building w/ the columns has residual energy & spirits from the massacre. I know u guys aren’t ghost hunters but that building to the left is def haunted. never been there before but thank you GrimmLife for taking us On another great trip with history from Chicago with the story of Al Capone. 🌃
A lot of Capone's rivals and other mob bosses are buried in that cemetary as well. Hymie Weiss, Dean O'Banion, Frank Nitti, Sam Giancana, to name a few. It's a really beautiful cemetery.
I live near San Francisco and I like to read up on al capone and stuff he did. Great video, love you both🖤
Sorry, I love the way baby ghoul looks at you when you are speaking
