In the 2005 film when the the basement, they said that the Japanese were taking out Tripods, surely you can take one out when under the tripod when then shield dome travels over you, spring out of a underground hatch with a RPG. Or when the grabbers are picking people up, the shields must be off then, there are times their shields are not powered on when they need to interact with things.

That'd make sense for the shields being off when the they pick up people because of how the birds on the tripod indicated the shields were off to
The japanese are really smart, so I'd imagine they knew that because they're not from our world, they'd have to be vulnerable to our bacteria, maybe they used some sort of chemical weapon and it worked, maybe they found the weakness you said.
@@alanbrito5239 not sure what you mean by American power the American military got crushed like ants, the only reason they ever got one was because the aliens got sick, but I’m not sure why that would effect the machines operational capability tbh.

The Martians first used energy shields in the 1953 George Pal War of the Worlds film because they had to figure out why the military wouldn't just nuke the aliens (which was something HG Wellls didn't have to think about in his 1898 novel). The original Tripods in the book were much more vulnerable. The HMS Thunder Child managed to take out 3 tripods before it was sunk. It shot one with a barrage from its guns, it rammed another one and destroyed it and the third was taken out when its boiler exploded.
The entire purpose of the shield is to protect the tripods from nuclear attack so there should never be a way to take the shields out with conventional weapons.
You have to consider how the shield would function, though. A nuclear blast is a single blast, albeit an insanely powerful one. If the shield can emit a single equally powerful pulse to repulse the hit, that could overload the shield generator instantly, but still save the machine; or perhaps those close to the blast will be lost, but those a mile or more away will survive (depending on the yield of course). But how many times can it generate low-power pulses to stop conventional hits before the shield generator is fried, or forced to cool down? There has to be a limit, and it can be reached.
You could also imagine that when the shield is hit, it is open for a short period in the region it is hit before it fills the gap. So enough concentrated fire might sneak a shot or two through, allowing damage that could add up to a kill, or at least enough to damage the shield emitter, to then allow a kill.
In the end, it's all science fiction and we don't know the rules governing their operation, but it is fun to theorize.
You and @hunter franklin both are right in your own ways. I think a nuke could potentially take down a tripod with the right amount of force energy displaced to the shields (overload the shields. All engery in the universe isn't unlimited) But that one nuke might take out one or two around the effect area. Knowing going by the 2005 movie that the storms generated emp disturbance all around the world. Dare would I say the military communications would fail.. satellites etc. Nukes would be pointless if they don't get orders to fire in the first place. In my mind you gotta fight fire with fire. Only way that could be, if we used energy based weapons against the tripods. Which we have little to do with atm of this time. U.S does have some kind of laser tech that can shot down a ballistic missle 250kms off. (Before the 2005 movie) (What tech we know of now) (TR-3B😒) Maybe conventional weapons might do the trick but at what cost to life. Do we have enough weapons and man power and organisation to do so? I don't think so. I reckon it would take no less then 5 days to the world to be over. Thank mother nature for saving us😅 Going by old and new story's to this theme they both end the machines fell to disease (bacteria) that us humans have been born into and our bodys have it's own safe guards against it. Pretty smart aliens not to survey the planet first🤣 HG wells had no idea what future would hold, but came out this his theory's to a story that some people laughed at. Now in these days it is possibly on what we know today. Example.. Nikola Tesla. Everyone thought he was a wack job with his ideas back in the day now we live by it. A/C power to signals transported over thin air.

@@tow3lie773 just attacked the tripods from under them. The shield surrounds them, but why not take out one from under using RPG and grenades
It would seem to me their legs are the vulnerable point to a primitive attack of simply placing a "sticky" charge (like the Soviets used against German tanks) on one of the feet. Might be suicidal, might not, but if you take out two of the legs, those things are dead in the water. Then you can take them on at point blank range within their shield perimeter with RPG's, grenades, 50 cal, etc.

One thing I never understood in this movie is why the americans don't used bombs EMP against Tripods, surely this maybe can to destroy them.
They never had that technology back in 2005. Besides nukes. All military vehicles around the world are emp proof these days. So keep on killing each other each. After all nuclear testing back 50's. Pretty sure aliens that advanced would already have that tech. Still think enough explosives under ground would trap them in big hole or least immobilize one of tripods legs. But would need alot planning under those circumstances.
@@tow3lie773 Starfish Prime was tested way back in 1962 and taught us the power of EMPs. And we took out Saddam Hussiens broadcast network with an e-bomb back in March 2003. So the tech was there. But I agree, any martian war machine that advanced wouldn't be affected by any non-nuclear EMP we could make.

I think even currently Humanity lacks the ability to generate EMP's aside from detonating a nuclear bomb in orbit.
@@valiatus6719 We detonated the first non-nuclear e-bomb in Iraq back in March 2003. You can google it. It's not secret. I'm not sure if the technology is widespread, but it definitely exists and is nearly 20 yrs old now.
