- "This inspired adaptation of Don Giovanni is a reworking of the Mozart opera from the point of view of Don Giovannis servant, Leporello. Taking the form of a film within a film, it is simultaneously set in two separate eras 1920s Hollywood and 17th-century Spain. When it opens in 1930, Leporello is presented as the host of a movie that reveals the longstanding secret of his masters identity in 1620 Seville. Through the clever implementation of visual effects, Hvorostovsky performs the two lead roles of the Opera Don Giovanni and Leporello."
The woman is no one else but Mrs. Hvorostovsky, though I'm not sure if they were married at the time of filming. She doesn't sing in the movie.

I hardly ever believe he's already fifty. He looks so young. And you know what is funny? I often think about the immense variety of voices and often I'm surprised. Hvorostovsky's voice is quite dark, yet it has something light in it, while e. g. Jonas Kaufmann has some dark tones in his tenor voice. And in some point their voices sound similar. It's very interesting while they're totally different voice types.
I think Dimo was in his early 40's here. He and Florence married in either 2000 or 2001 after a three year relationship.

The beautiful love story of Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Florence Illi has been now made into documentary. I have just discovered it on UA-cam. It is by a Russian artist Vitaly Tishtenko. Vitaly Tishtenko compiled it into 12 minutes of text and photographs not seen before. It is a gem.

@BambinoBaritono I think it just sounds very strange because his voice is "amplified" with microphones, not a usual occurance for opera but this is a movie. He isn't my favorite baritone either but obviously he is a professional with years of training and he is a perfectly suitable Giovanni. His magnitism and stage presence more than his singing have elevated him IMO but remember we live in the "video" age and musicality is 2nd to sexuality/physicality. This is a 'sexy' don giovanni.
