The biggest project we've ever tried: on Budget Day 2009, Tom and Matt headed down to London. With a camera crew in tow and a command centre in York telling us where the cameras were, we tried to get in the background of as many live broadcasts as possible, boneheading our way through London landmarks and news channels. Tom had an Oyster card; Matt had a Ford Fiesta. Only one could emerge victorious.

Today the command center would have their positions live, be recording the internet streams directly to disk and they would be permanently linked by BT headphones. The GPS tracks would be visualised of course.
when it was easier to use actual maps than Google maps....

The editing work on this is astounding, even by today's standards. It's also quite amazing seeing how quickly technology's changed considering this is just in 2009.

its on one of their park bench videos, they said it was funny as a student, but people have done similar things to them, so they wouldnt again. They also said they wouldnt get that lucky, as they didnt plan to do it on the budget day.

@@MondySpartan I'd watch that honestly, if only the two of them were car people (which as far as I know, they're not really). In a perfect world, maybe something could be done with the same production team as Top Gear, doing similar challenges but with less of a focus on cars, but that would be a stretch. If nothing else though, it would be quite nice to see the Technical Difficulties doing more videos of this nature- as they show in their panel show videos, they've definitely got the chemistry for it :P

That makes them around 1000 years older than the middle ages, and about 8 times older than the United States of America. (numbers based on the Romans existing around the year 0. The Romans didn't actually leave Britain until about 500 years later.)

As 2020 comes to a close, an endless sea of incredible content stretches out before me. Yet, despite the irrelevance and pointlessness, I inexplicably settled on watching this (and am at least mildly entertained).
Actually, it's worth it just for the rare scene at 08:00, showing the narrow overlap in the transition of technological history. 2 people watching the same thing at the same time; one viewing the broadcast on a handheld television, the other watching it livestreamed over the internet on a mobile phone!
