Thanks for the video. From all the drama, I was expecting this zoo to have crappy cramped enclosures filled with feces and dead animals, but I’m honestly surprised how decent it is. Besides from the elephant, giraffe, and tigers (which need more space) all their animals are well taken care of and their enclosures are above average for the standards set by the USDA. Despite what some whiny people would have you believe, this zoo is trying, and it’s far from some roadside hovel. The enclosures are clean (minus a few swimming ponds that lack filtration) and obviously have thought put into their furnishings. The fencing is made of high quality material. None of the animals shown are sick or showing signs of distress (besides their elephant) and the zoo even manages to breed some species that are rare in captivity and don’t breed unless they have good conditions, so obviously they’re doing something right. Their reptile enclosures are ugly to me, but you have to give them credit for also giving above average care. Most facilities don’t even keep snakes outside of racks, so at least they have room to move around. I was also very impressed by the aviary for their budgies. It’s nice to see them have space to fly around. An abusive roadside zoo wouldn’t go the extra mile with these sorts of things. Seems the worst crime this zoo has committed is simply having enclosures that aren’t pretty looking enough like the biggest zoos in the country do; naturalistic looking exhibits that exist only for the visitors to enjoy (this is a fact by the way. Ever seen off-exhibit pens these zoos use or the indoor areas animals have? They’re ugly. Animals don’t care how fancy their exhibit looks, they care about what they can do in it.) There is no harm in not having this.
Big reason why I do what I do. To show things for what they are and to allow people to form opinions on their own without my own opinions clouding that. I’ve been to a few zoos and I can say this one isn’t too different than the rest other than enclosure size on some. I can believe abuse could happen behind the scenes and all, but as far as in the open I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. I just hope the best for the animals
This zoo is awful please don’t waste money there! The elephant Asha is showing clear signs of depression,it bobs it’s head back and forth continuously for hours. Elephants are social creatures they are not meant to be alone.
This zoo is terrible, even though I haven't been there. I heard they abuse animals, and they have over 150 violations for it! I heard their elephant is all alone, and they force her tp give rides, and elephants can't be ridden. I heard their back are not made for it!
They didn’t offer elephant rides when I was there. Not sure if they do at all or just seasonal. I show things so people can decide for themselves what they think of it, whether for good or bad
Even their snakes arent getting proper care. Their shed should come off in one piece with no issues if their temps and humidity is good. This place is like Petco on steroids. How sad.
I showcase places so people can form opinions on their own. I never share my own opinions in the videos themselves. I am appalled by what’s happened/is happening at the zoo but at the same time I’m not that shocked after going there myself. And that’s telling and not in a good way. Hope the animals relocated are taken care of and can be rehabilitated
