- As someone who loves the dark, ambient, and atmospheric, its shocking that I haven't covered any Metroid tracks yet. That all changes with this weeks cover of Brinstar - Red Soil from Super Metroid.

This is incredible. The mood is definitely captured here. Those textures, the drums, the glitches, the reverb heavy guitar, its very eerie. This is how Super Metroids music would sound if it was made today. Fantastic job Ace!
Metroid Prime 1 and 2 did it years ago.

The depth and tone of this one might be up there with the best I've heard from this channel. The sense of space definitely feels like a massive underground cave system on an alien world.

Hell yeah. this takes me back a few years. It really encapsulates the atmosphere in Super Metroid. The sound just flows and oozes all over the graphics of that game.

Great remake, but I don't think slide guitar was the best substitute for the flute. Also I think you went a bit overboard with the hi-hats and misc. sounds. Still a great cover that undoubtedly took very long.

This is soaked in reverb and I love it
(I would've preferred if you _drowned_ it, though. [haha becuz torvus bog geddit ok ill shut up nao]).
In all seriousness though, I think the brass especially could've used more reverb.
What treatments are you using on the guitar ?
This was better than my Brinstar remix from 2001, very nice! I wanted the intro to sound as retro as the real version, and there's a bit of nostalgia from the original game at the end (my fav part of the track). Check it out here: soundcloud.com/iosys/brinstar-failed

It feels alien still but a totally different kind of alien...like...an action game with xenomorph style aggressive kill everything aliens...not the mysterious depths of a half-living planet.
