  • This video should give you a good starting point to designing and programming your own timed light shows by creating a custom media file. This is a more intuitive way to program a light show that lets you visual the show as you build it.

It looks even cooler now seeing the source video with it! This looks like it was lip-synced (bass-synced? 😏) and I'm personally mostly interested in live applications - preferably without having to constantly use an in-ear metronome. So basically Touch Designer following a midi-clock, and responding to additional midi messages during the song to follow along

Yeah this specific method works best for someone doing a music video or playing shows to specific tracks but we are experimenting now with using midi clocks and sound active settings for more of an off the cuff live scenario!

Thank you so much to you and your team for making this template and tutorial videos. I've been pulling my hair out for years figuring out what I need to make music sequences for my custom LED fixtures

I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to provide all the information about your creations.
You are incredibly gracious and humble.
I am planning on building one of your rigs but I do have a question.
I have not worked with addressable COB strips before.
What steps did you have to take to set them to 17 pixels per channel?
I cannot find info that explains how COB leds are addressed
    Thank you

Thanks so much for the comment! The cob strips operate the exact same way as regular addressable LEDs, it's just a bit harder to discern the different segments from a glance than it is on the standard 5050 style leds, but it's all done in WLED. I believe I go through the process on my V2 rig video over on the Super Valid Designs channel

Thanks you for your videos ! There is a basic thing I can't understand. You seam tu use a 24 chanels dmx to your led strips. So each led strip use 3 chanels (RGB). How can you tell the DMX decoder that there is 17 pixel in it ? I can only control the entire tube and I don't understand how to divide the led strip in 17 pixel as you did. Do you have adressable led strip ? If so, each one of the 8 port of your DMX decoder send more than 3 chanels information ? Can you explain what information to send to the DMX decoder ? Thanks you a lot !

Thanks for the comment! So the rig in this video is my new V2 rig that I released a video about back in February on the Super Valid Designs youtube channel. This V2 rig does use addressable LED strips and a completely new brain instead of the DMX decoder that I used in the original rig

14:15 Very interesting to see how to animate these pixel lights (maybe some Pavotube XR I assume ?), thx!
I so far only treat them as one pixel for simplicity of animation, which allows me to animate them right in my DAW (reaper), but I now know where to look for if I want to take advantage of multiple pixels per light.

Appreciate the comment! These lights are custom made modular rig (you can see the full rig over on my personal channel Super Valid Designs). I started the same, programming single pixels per tube but going full pixel capability has definitely opened up so many cool programming ideas!

Firstly this is beyond amazing and awesome!! But Could we please have a follow up video tutorial and template for running full shows/set list on Ableton and how that would work with this rig?

Any updates on availability or how to make the light tube's etc?

I'm working on a fixture video now, and we are planning on releasing some fixtures in the near future. The tubes have been tough to source, hence the hold up, unfortunately
