Three Updates that CSGO NEEDS
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 гру 2022
- Hey guys! this video serves as a collection of ideas that I have had for years that I would like to see in CSGO. These focus on more macro updates rather than small changes, because in all honesty, we don't really need to update the small things. If we were to follow this plan, I have no doubt that the health of CSGO would improve drastically.
If you read this, comment "If no teams pick Anubis at the BLAST World Final, its WAR."

I know I'm in the minority, but I think adding actually fun casual modes would be good for the game too. Like deathmatch, but with something more than just shoot anything that moves as a game loop.
[cough cough] basically something like operation hydra without the operation then?I would love if they would rotate the community made maps more often as it's always a pleasant surprise to see some variation(Looking at you wingman)
Always thought the rotating Arcade modes/maps in Overwatch was really cool, that combined with Valorant's full implementation of FFA (but with the plugins present on community servers allowing for primary and secondary weapons, auto gaining health with a kill, etc. etc.) would have a HUGE impact on playerbase and appeal to casuals imo
Literally just make a game mode that cycles between the server settings of warowl's "competetive csgo but..." videos. Those always look insanely fun to play
King of the hill
I mean, retakes is casual and it's super fun, but otherwise yeah. I'd love rotating game modes as a aylist ala warpwl/custom server style
If no teams pick Anubis at the BLAST World Final, its WAR.
thats impossible. there is no way navi doesn't change their instant ban of vertigo they've done it since its basically been in the map pool
Anubis is an OK map, I have in in the queue for MM since its release. I like it way more than cache or vertigo.
@@user-fr9gd8ug5b grammar dude
@@user-fr9gd8ug5b Yeah, Anubis is probably going to be their next insta-ban. They said themselves they are practicing Vertigo, so they are going to start playing it for sure.
I would disagree that adding so much emphasis on the professional feel of the game would be good for the game in the long run, unless the changes came with significant improvements to the casual experience. Every healthy esport needs a solid casual fan base. A lot of the appeal of sports is that you can see professionals play the game, the grab some friends and try the things you see for yourself, and esports are no different. The thing is, there are only a handful of sports to play, while there are hundreds of multiplayer shooters. You need to keep the casual community alive so the professional matches can remain profitable. Esports die when the casual fan base shrinks too small, and one of the ways you can guarantee shrinkage is by not properly balancing the attention you give to the casual and professional sides of the game. When changes come at the cost of fun, players flee.
Hard agree, and the thorn in CSGO's side since it became an e-sport is the fact that there are ZERO ways to play a 5v5 casually. Sure the "unranked" queue exists, but it automatically turns off prime without a way to turn it back on, and the fact that it's still SBMM anyways seems to cause players to just go "Why would I not want to rank up if I'm playing comp lmao"
'The thing is, there are only a handful of sports to play' I'm not so sure about that LMAO, but I do agree with your overall point. CS:GO already has plenty for people who love competitive gaming, it's the casual side that's mostly lacking imo.
There's a reason why Fortnite blew up and caused Valve to add a battle royale mode. This wasn't the right approach for CS, but it's clearly something Valve are more concerned about than the majority of the community, who are mostly the hardcore playerbase by the looks of these comments. Getting players to become those hardcore competitive players requires getting them interested in the first place, which imo requires more casual content.
@@8stormy5Ranked MM IS the casual mode. This is why the seperation between MM and third party is a good thing.
i feel like the competitive side of csgo matchmaking could be enhanced without adding new stuff, just a MUCH more transparent, reworked rank system (more akin to that of valorant or faceit for example) that also better stops people from being underranked / overranked (which imo rn is a big issue)
And even if they would rather not implement full transparency on ranks, even something as small as an arrow to let you know if you're close to ranking up or down would be ideal. Say, a green up arrow by the rank would indicate you're close to ranking up and a red down arrow would be the opposite. That way, you'd know to practice more so you can prevent deranking or being thrown off by being against better people if you rank up.
i may be in the minority here but i would prefer if it just didnt show us a rank at all and just ranks us with players similar to our skill level. For example say you win a game where you played really badly and just got carried while on the verge of downranking. Imo you should be downranked even though you won. It shouldnt be about whether you win or lose a match and more so about how well you played. not only in terms of k/d but also how you used your utility etc. that way you wont get into a rank that you shouldnt be in just by getting carried
Im not a valve dev but i would guess the reason they dont make rank transparent is because people would just try to find the most optimal way to rank up instead of trying their best to win.
Seems your wish has been granted with CS2/CS Rating :3

Adding members' names to end credits makes sense and is fine :)
Good ideas, expected them to come with source 2 in 2045
Just before HL3 releases in 2085
only took three months!
@@eljestLiv yes, amazing how manifesting is getting faster and faster. Now please add more wallbang spots and maybe even destructable things into maps?
I enjoy your takes. There are too many reactionary people in the CS scene. Keep on going!

2:11 also add knife rounds, so we can decide to start as a T or CT
nah, boring
@@brice7332 less rng, no matter how small that is good for a competitive game
removing knife rounds was one of the worst ideas they got. But CS is dead since they switched from 1.6 to GO anyways. It's a casual game compared to 1.6 back then
@@cristiano1g lmao
I could actually see valve adding knife rounds with the next operation
its amazing hearing someone with a voice say this stuff out loud regarding the in-game tournament mode, distinct map rotations, integration with some service into the base-game beyond just being top rank in , AND AND AND you actually gave specifics. What you are saying is so similar to long comments I've written on yt videos in the past, its almost like you already read them. I cant recall hearing anyone else suggest an in-game tournament system in csgo ever. It used to be implemented into Metal Gear Online, a game from 15 years ago that people still play today on hacked ps3's and it was recently ported to PC by modders. Also, I think your idea of an xp boost reward is really clever. People take grinding service medals pretty seriously year to year and I think that the boost would get people pretty interested.
bro I remember when I got youtube suggest one of your first videos when u had 1k subs like 3 months ago.
Ur vids are really cool man :D
omg thank u for putting the song names in the description, that first song like instantly made me add the game to my wishlist lol
Lol the panda slander, love it
get that members set up going! great content dude
Great content as always!
- im always looking forward to your next video
what I would consider implementing is something similar Rainbow 6 has: A Test server. basically two weeks before every new season the announced updates are firstly published into the test server so prople from the community are able to test the changes/patches and give feedback before the actual game is updated. may it be new maps/map reworks, gun/utility changes, testing new operators etc.
anyone who played the r6 tts knows it's only for bug fixes. no feedback is actually taken even if the new update is broken / underpowered as fk. the only time they changed something was when the community lost their shit over smoke's passive immunity.
they used to have it around like 2016? but noone played it and there was barely any feedback so it got dumped real fast
Valves way of doing it, is much better than it is in r6s.
Ex. panorama in csgo and source2 in dota, both being opt in, before it replaced the previous systems.
Love your content always. One of the few articulate, thoughtful CS content creators out there. Glad to be a subscriber rn when you're still a relatively small channel. We need more people like you in the community. Love from India!
you’re ideas for the competitive side of cs is actually really cool
I like the casual feeling MM gives you. The ability to provide external services like Faceit or ESEA or whatever is much more worth than Valve dictating how the whole systems work and everyone having to follow it. That's how others do it, and it sucks. It's soooo much better to have the freedome to host your own servers.
The end "talking part" is a great way to get closer to your audience. So you kinda break the script and just have a chat with your fans, it's great for community building. Which is why featuring some of your patrons on the screen would be a good idea.
Make more of these videos, great work. Maybe one on game balancing?:)
A large quality of life thing that could make the game a lot better would be to increase standing accuracy across the board. The idea that who wins or looses could be determined not by the players, but by some random number generator is really dumb for a competitive game. Sometimes when I say this people tell me that it's to give the worse players a chance to get a hit through luck, which is pretty dumb, we have sbmm. All standing inaccuracy does is make people frustrated and it's no like it will upend the balancing to reduce it. The AWP would still be better than the AK at long range. The AUG would still be better than a famas.
If you don't know how recoil, inaccuracy, etc. worka in counterstrike work, please don't argue with me about it, for some reason barely anyone knows how the shooting mechanics work in this game beyond pulling down to control recoil.
Great idea with the names at the end
Can't wait 'till you hit 100k bro!! You're making such good content, thank u!
Oh, and yeah- put the names in the end cards whilst you're talking - that is a WIN WIN! :D
Actually good suggestions,keep it up
I love your videos man. i wanna start making content like yours. Keep it up
Keep up the great videos
You're the 🐐 for including those Smash nods
A reworked rank system would be soooo nice seeing your MMR directly and once reaching global your MMR goes up just like faceit after level 10, this just seem right for csgo and making a more competitive game, a monthly tournament or even weekly would nice too seeing hundreds of thousands of players all playing in a huge tournament with active moderators such as players who have overwatch unlocked, if they have a certain rank in game and over a certain amount of elo to find cheaters would be crazy and would completely make csgo blow up and prices of skins blow up even more than they are.
I really like your ideas
Yeah members at the end is a solid spot! vocal recognition and all at the end would be good too.
my ideas are:
1-ur character auto call enemy spotted when clear see an enemy that pop on map
.
2- opening and pinging the enemy in the map
.
3- request weapon and drop
4- eco calculate
.
the reason i swiched to val is because of these quality of life changes, specially for a person who doesn't like talking, its so muchhh of a save
i would love to see cs has them,, will always play it
Fire video as always
Making mm premier 128 tick should would be dope I do like the voting system better than face it having a easy way to communicating about the map choice and everyone having a say is nice, valve should make queuing the game should be on the industry standard 128 tick so player don't have to play face it or esea they should go to that for tournaments or league but not for pugs
128 tick is a meme. There is no significant difference between 64 and 128 tick servers.
It would be incredibly cool to do a shout out to the youtube members! Amazing content man !
I think a fixed rotation in the map pool would be really great. But if they also make a non-active map pool you could play unranked or short matches etc on and add a few old gold maps in there like Season and Santorini would be really cool. Then like you said, right after the major they will remove one random map from the active map pool and add another one from the non active duty map pool. This would help keep the game alive and refreshed, and it would bring something we can always look forward to. No more of this leave us in the dark with not telling us anything volvo keeps doing
The tournament one sounds awesome
I think the best way Valve could do seasons would be have the ESL/Faceit conglomorate schedule all their events prior to the first major of the year, (would probably have to move the major back a little bit) or some before some after, then have Blast and all the other TOs do the second half of the year leading up to the second major. This way it keeps the open brackets of CS allowing new teams to come in etc but also adding some structure to a pretty structureless scene.
Then teams would be traveling more than they already are. Which is already a huge commitment.
The "problem" with your first set of ideas is...
That's just faceit. And by this point, Valve doesn't want to compete, nor does it really need to. Anyone that gets global is serious enough about the game that they SURELY know about faceit/ESEA, and can move there if they want to go a step further. From my point of view, the official integration into CS is kinda pointless.
The more transparent ranking and rotating map pool tho? Spot on.
Best video of csgo 2022
you're good to put members there 👍
7:00 - I was washing dishes and had you on in the background
*the rock raised eyebrow gif*
All the changes sound good, although I'm not sure about overtime.
Agree, it could disqualify teams simply for performing very similarly. Perhaps just stop the match after a few overtimes and call it a draw?
@@ondraspendlik9759 but if they draw who goes forward in the bracket?
I have to disagree with you on the map rotation. I think it will help new teams to get up, rather than blocking their success. Looking at your example of BNE, they made the Antwerp RMRs, the Antwerp Major plus the Rio RMRs with basically playing Ancient, the latest map in the pool. It took the other teams 3 stages until they finally got a solution, which led to BNE losing every Ancient map (iirc) in the Rio Major. So a new map can be a route to success for smaller teams, despite making the competition as dense as it is right now.
Why is that a good thing? The better team should win, we shouldn't punish success.
6:38 of course, go for it buddy
Making the 2nd major the last event of the year have to be a must imo as well have delays between tier 1 turnements having a new event every week is nice but to much should be a limit give players more rest and less travel
love the tournaments with minor drops idea
tbh nobody notices the 128 ticks anyways, until a jumpthrow lineup doesn't land
Yeah the members at the end would be dope
Thank you I've been saying the same thing about mm for a while
The point of your rank is to match you against players of similar skill and that's it. While it's fair to say you want to improve, the game shouldn't encourage you to "climb the ranks" because they're not meant to be stepping stones; they're each supposed to be potential destinations. Inherent to the "climbing" mentality is either, the idea that your skill is actually greater than the rank you've spent a few dozen games in, or, the idea that the matchmaking system is flawed and has placed everybody wrong. Both of which are highly unlikely and if you believe either of these, you should seek help.
Also remove all official casual matchmaking from the game and replace them with a more prominent entryway to community servers. Doing so will revitalize the community around the game and inspire map creators to create content since they might actually be played on.
they need to ban agent skins from competitive matches, just have them in everything but ranked matches
Valve likes money, so of course they wont do it (even though it would help the game)
It’s interesting how these videos suggestions for integrating pro play into global elite made it into…
Valorant.
Yeah he’s just describing Val’s premier system before it actually was announced, and it’s working great for valorant esports
A very nice video actually
Honesty I couldn't care about matchmaking, it sucks but we've dealt with it for 10 years now. Changing it now would be weird and would kind of ruin the fun part of bashing comp games until you rank up.
The only thing I want... Is the be able to sell my gun if I bought it that round... Even if I only get half the cost back, it's still better than the pp-bizon I accidentally bought instead of a nade.
Being able to see your ELO would be great
No, they can not add a visual indicator of your rank. That wouldn't really help at all with motivation IMO, and it's a perfect way for cheaters or rank boosters to figure out how the ranking system works and exploit it to rank up the fastest while doing the least work.
It's known that playing multiple matches in quick succession and winning them all will devalue the Elo gained from each win. If you knew the numbers exactly, you could min/max the amount of time spent and Elo gained. So there's no doubt this would be ripe for exploitation
On top of that, it would just open up a new door for criticism as valve changes the ranking system behind the scenes. People will start to complain about losing Elo despite the circumstances being too complicated for them to understand
I dont hear this one a lot but some markers for basic smokes and molotovs would be nice for new beginner players learning the maps and getting over the initial hurdle of those nades.
The game itself doesn't need a ladder system beyond global. It's already widely recognized that MM is for casual players and pugs are for sweats. Sweats are much more inclined to spend time working on their tactics and fundamentals that a casual player that just wants to play the game, so there is a divide in the community here, and the current setup makes sense.
We also need to kill the 128 tick meme already. There is no significant difference between 64 and 128 tick servers. 128 tick is just an unnecesary maintainence cost for Valve, and implementing it would be a massive waste of money. There is a reason Valorant mentions 128 tick in their marketing so much, it's a fucking meme. It's a buzzword.
I agree the most with the announcement period for new maps.
This needs to happen.
As for a consistent change, Valve have pretty consistently changed the map pool after the last major in a year so this already seems to be in place.
One addition to this i would love to see is a pool of 9 maps so more new maps come in without giving original and good maps the boot.
The overtime system as FaceIt has it e.g. would be very welcome in Premier mode, imo.
And Top Ranks like the Challenger in League or Grandmaster in OW has been an oversight by Valve for too long, too.
I absolutely agree with every point c:
having lil penguins would be pretty cool on the black background
The members thing sounds good
Not sure if teams would workshop during a major, but advanced notice would be great
i disagree with the OT disqualifications. I literally just got out of a faceit match that went to the 3rd OT and we legit won the game by 1 round, we were about to go into a 4th Ot😭
I wouldn't want to be banned or disqualified just because we're having such a tied match! That should make it even more hyped lol
I think the ELO is hidden in MM to help prevent burnout. Ranks are kinda fun, but I have the least fun possible in CSGO when I play FOR the rank (maybe this speaks to how poorly CSGO is configured for casual matches without shunting players into different gamemodes outright). As for the tourney, VAC needs to be fixed first lol. Which makes another suggestion: Turn VAC back on. The justification of "collecting more data for VACnet" makes absolutely zero sense- if the point is to get ahead of the Cheats vs. Anti-Cheat rat race, there's absolutely no point to giving players no reason to develop anything more complicated than a VAC module bypasser and radar+very mild silent aim.
As a last point on MM, we def need separate ranks for queued and unqueued. Right now it's a coin toss whether you're gonna get an enemy whose rank is based on good communication and coordination with a 5-stack who just wants to play with randoms this game, or some solo-Q only aim god that nobody on my team can kill, least of all myself.
Totally agree. You made me dream of a better game ❤
I love the idea for a ingame tournament system, that would be so cool and fun to play in. i think a tweak for the item drop system they should do if they were to do this that would avoid the skin economy inflation issue is to make the item pool the exact same but make the items have a unique catagory like a souvenir and maybe even a coin that can go on your profile to show your stats. here's an example of what im talking about; ''I just won my first ever csgo ingame tournament and my reward was a 'victorious m4a1-s Masterpiece', in the description it says my in game name and some of the info about the tournament I won, i even have a coin on my profile that shows i won a tournament''. maybe a lil convoluted but i hope it paints a picture of what i think the possibility is for a change like that.
I think some of these changes(if not blundered) would make csgo twice the game it is now.
That sounds pretty cool. If a coin was awarded, it would be cool if you could look at it in your inventory and it would show stats on how well you did in the tournament, similar to how the operation coins used to display stuff about missions completed, mm match stats during that time, etc. It would be nice to get a new coin for each time you won, but then your inventory might get kinda full of coins, maybe you could just upgrade the coin similar to the pick-ems/operations all the way up to diamond etc
1:18 The problem with 100% drop is it will definitely attract people with cheats who will farm it for money.
i doubt it would be easy to put in but a in game map builder would be pretty cool and a a nice throw back
I don't fully agree with all your opinions but I do really enjoy how you deliver them and give reasoning for it :)
visible mmr will most likely not work. Everything we know about your elo is, that it's based on Glicko-2 and is calculated even when you don't play the game. You can uprank over night and your rank will only update, when you win your next match.
IMO players would happily take some sort of region tournament winner badge on their profile over a drop any day, or maybe a trophy skin that can't be traded. That way there is no concerns for the market economy
been binging your videos recently. will you be back for cs2? love your content
50gb update.
Any other video game player: oh no
TF2 players: I am immune.
To implement a tournament system means to solve the logistical issues and risks, that are inevitably gonna happen. Increased interest for cheaters to participate. How to combat ghosting the opposite team to tell your team their exact moves. The very high risk of players not being on time to play the matches.
League of legends has a system is like this, it had some technical issues but once those got ironed out it was good. The only problem is smurfs.
Surely announcing a new map before the major and releasing it just after doesn't give the top teams a chance to practice it if they're prepping for major?
Valve is big on others making improvements to their games (history of supporting mods, FACEIT/ESEA existing with no trouble from Valve). Some sort of partnership with the third party stuff is more likely than any in-game league system if they were to improve past global elite. I'd like to see more than that, though, just matchmaking reform. It feels impossible to find a match at certain times of the day, and half the time, those matches have ranks against each other that aren't even close to fair.
I'm probably in the minority, but I don't want ELO to be transparent. The entire fun part of ranking up is it being hard to gauge where you are.
the members thing would be cool
Battlecup in dota is some of the most fun I've had.
You'll get a like simply for the Panda Cup reference.
128tick servers fucks the fps for people with low-end PC's. If you want to play in a 128tick server you have faceit, esea, and other platforms, beside the community servers. Most of the people who play MM don't even know what a 128tick server is.
If you can't afford 250$ pc this game isn't for you
@@fica1137 I will one up you and say if you really enjoy the game and take it somewhat seriously why the fuck would you care about MM?.
@@f7empest So MM shouldn't change because playerbase has gotten used to it being garbage?
also, most people can't notice a difference bewteen 128 ticks and 64 (shown by 3kliksphilip). Aaaand valve would need better hardware for their servers. (somewhat 40% better)
@@a-c1081 it's not about being able to eye ball if you're in 128 or 64, it's about having a more consistent game, which is very important in a tactical shooter like csgo where things happen very fast. If you actually take the time to watch the demos of your games you will a lot of times notice that what you remember happening in the game happened slightly different server side, like missing by a small bit when on the client's game was on point, for example.
However I do agree that tickrate is not solely indicative of the server's quality, as is the case of Valorant, where servers are very low ping and 128 tick but somehow there is a constant disparity between client and server.
Dota 2 has weekly mini-tournaments based on rank that have single elimination into a BO3 final. Thoroughly recommend :-)
I wish compet was a place for serious players. Most of my solo matches there are - russians, someone without a mic, someone playing 1 weapon only, someone obviously trolling, etc... also some way to count individual performance in mm, I am tired of players with 0,63 hltv rating being 5 ranks more than me, doing 5 kills per match but getting boosted in stack matches
So play third party? You admitted it yourself, MM isn't a place for serious players. If you are a serious player, play faceit.
if any of these get put into the game, i can't wait to sit in 30 minutes queues for them!
Well said. It’s so easy for people to trash on valve but what you said at the end is true, but also most of your ideas sound good.
I would also like better optimization on maps. When I play mirage or dust II, I get over 300fps, but when I play Anubis or cache I get just over 190 fps on my 3060ti amd 4300GE rig. I was getting more steady fps when I used the 4300GE iGpu. I hate this variability and has made me push cs aside, even though it's the game I grew up on, and I love with my heart, soul and being.
Im fine with the ranking system, better to not know when you are about to drop or rank up, it make all matches just as important.
dont care much about making MM more like competitive but having something after global would be nice
something I would really like to see its a buff to movement, it would rise the skill ceeling soo much
one word: operation
Man, if they had a path to pro back in 2014.. Valves relationship with CS is so confusing to me
Visible Elo, 128 tick servers and ranked seasons that last 3-6 months like in R6 Siege for example would be really nice.
0:38 Strongly disagree. One of the best things about the ranking system in matchmaking is that the player don’t know what exactly impacts their rating. If you would display the rating number than this would be over.
We know enough about the inner working. We know it’s based on the glicko-2 system and if you win more rounds/matches and perform better you rank up faster. The only really downside of the system is the rank decay.
Faceit has a transparent ranking system everybody understands it and its terrible, one of the worst one could come up with.
The "problem" is that none of these ideas are new, I think we've all heard these down the years, probably even had our own version of them.
Yet, here we are, begging for obvious things, to make the game better. Some of them don't even require a lot of effort to implement. Hopefully at least a couple of these will be reality.
Thanks for the video.
"We need more transparency" we've needed that since day one they didn't do it then they aren't going to do it now.
Free balling end of the vid is a W
As a smash player, Appreciate the jab at Panda Cup
I'd love if Valve added a load more assets to the SDK for mappers like me that don't really have the time to learn the ins and outs of making props and textures, and would rather not pay a massive load of money for someone else in the community to make them for us. I think about the best I have ever managed to achieve on my own is getting some free textures into the game that looked decent, I don't have the time for all this complicated stuff and it was alright a few years ago but now so much has changed that you are lagging way behind if you can't make your own props / textures.
0:37 this probably will never happen as CSGO uses a Glicko rating system, not Elo. This means your skill rating is a standard deviation, not a set value. This was claimed by a valve employee on reddit back in 2015 so who knows if they still actually use this system at all ,though.
