*We purchased this after moving, and previously had a spotlight **Newest.Technology** cam with solar power. The wired pro cam has much better light (about the same as a bright porch light), and the image is significantly more clear with much better details.*
I like how he doesn’t show any night time footage at all.
I got one today the nighttime is great
😂😂😂
You do it then if you're so good.
Yes. Perfectly useless review. Wanted to see it work at night.
He had some footage but it showed Aliens walking up his driveway and the government seized it . You’ll need to take the aluminum foil off your windows and resize your tin foil hat to watch it .
A very good review! You presented information clearly and succinctly. I'm glad to know about the product's shortcomings, namely nighttime recording (no color, et al.)
I like my ring however they falsely advertise showing that it opens instantaneously. it does not once the motion detector activates then it takes up to 15-45 seconds to activate the video to view. after its recorded it does not take that long to activate and open. the latest ad i saw today shows a person coming out of the bushies only to see the woman tell him stop and push the alarm, it doesn't work that fast or even close. . however it does work like it shows it's just that is so slow and not instantaneous like the ads show. Keep in mind that it goes thru your phone so if you have a cheep phone it will have problems. but i love the camera and app
Download the Rapid Ring app. It’s a bare bones companion app that opens in one to two seconds just to give you a live view with the options for two way communication and to sound the alarm. Works great.
@@OutdoorsWithGeoff So true my problem was i had a cheep phone. now it works great, got a new phone. The best
Ring is off my list just because of the subscription SCAM. I think it should have an SD slot to record video and allow you to review it from your phone.
Paid over 200 dollars for this unit 4 months ago. Drill holes, providing backing, hired an electrician, wouldn't connect to my wifi. Bought a new WiFi box. Got connected. Went through the process. 8 hours later still doesn't work properly. Can't share. Shows what looks like rain. But it's not raining. Who the heck needs to talk to a robber. Break into my car, you'll see the troubling end of a shotgun. In short, about 450 dollars and approx. 20 hours into it, I still haven't got it functioning for what I bought it for.
Prepare setting up an account while going through multiple confirmation numbers and still can't connect properly. Thinking about taking it down, patching the holes in my stucco and simply keeping items out of my vehicle in my driveway. Trying to get this operating correctly is just as frustrating as having my car broken into. Perhaps having a master degrees in electronics would have helped....sheesh
Just got one .. cant wait to install .. already have the Ring Pro doorbell
How is the audio on this
@@chrisbaker8467 pretty good .. picks up alot of noises .. sensitive mic
Its almost impossible to reach ring on their 800 #, I think they make the lights with a very low wi fi receiving so u need to buy the extender, as i have 3 at different locations all within 30 feet of wi fi and needed extender for all, other than that a great security device
You are correct about one thing, it is impossible to speak to someone after you purchase their product.
Excellent review.
i was at a customer's house today and the new ones allow you to record on your phone. She showed me various recordings of me working outside and she doesn't have a subscription.
Can I set up my ring on my phone before having it mounted
Thanks for mentioning other security systems as well
"The infrared stays on when the floodlight comes on"? Why? Then you still have black and white image??
Infrared is natively black and white.....not in color.
Ring put out a firmware update to fix this so your video will appear in color at night when the led floodlights are activated.
Wonderful review
Ring website says 30 days default storage. Is that not true ? Do we not get 30 days storage without subscription ?
The expression of your face is telling me you need 😎😎😎😎😎 sunglasses ✌
Hey Techhive You Got Ring Floodlight Cam
"At night time there are a couple of LED's..."
Don't bother showing an example...
Cut to next clip...
WEAK
Can these be mounted in a ceiling mount junction box? Unfortunately, that is how the electricians put the junctions boxes in the soffits.
i have had mine for a couple of months had a lot of issues with the lights going on and off all night also spoke to the support folks and had the Geek squad come out to set things up still lots of problems sorry i bought this not worth the investment ,
Why is the injunction box needed? Can’t it just be mounted straight to the wall?
Hi, great review.
Question can you leave the light on and have it turned off like a timer?
Now , the ring video NO va a funcionar si no hay un pago mensual y esto no es mencionado on ninguno de los UA-cam video review
Hey that orange extension cable had 3 colored wires black white and green. Where does the green go too
Not one time does it show how bright the lights are at night
Why no example of night time video???
Thanks information very helpful
Here's the real review: it will not accept 5ghz frequency and there is no buffering therefore the final video is NOT 1080 and never will be. Technically the camera is capable of that, but is slowed down by the 2.4ghz. You cannot see facial features or license plates and with no buffering the worst result is that there will be 1-3 second gaps in the video. Just hope the burglar doesn't show his face to the camera during one of the gaps. Every Ring Floodlight camera does it, especially if you have ANYTHING else on the wifi - the video guy here just didn't let his play long enough - and yes i used an extender and yes i have top of the line internet and wifi in my home. Also the lights on mine stayed on all the time and I could not get that to be any different. Then finally, the $3 a month was the final nail and i returned the product. Ring does a huge fail by not making these 5ghz like their doorbell models and all of the non-paid tech guys agree.
I'm running this on the front of my house and haven't noticed any 1-3 second gaps. My camera has a strong wireless signal. The lights are also turning off successfully after being triggered by the motion sensing. Are you sure you don't have them switched on in the main menu? That setting is to switch them on continuously, not switch them on for motion sensing. it confused me at first. I'd be interested to see a clip from your system so I can understand the problems you are having.
TechHive I actually had this happen to me but I have multiple ring devices about five TV is connected to Wi-Fi 4 Xbox’s, 4 phones about three tablets so if you have heavy Wi-Fi load I would not recommend it
thank you.. you just saved me from buying one of these. Seems like way to many shortcomings!
Any recommendations on a suitable junction box that can be used with the RIng Security Light, I have an old security light, but this has its own backplate assembly (which obviously cannot be used)?
I love mine it's keeping us cars and dogs safe from, neighbors who are from hell till we move its going with us too
That's exactly why I'm looking into getting one...I too have neighbors from hell, soo sad to have to live that way.
what ur neighbors do so bad? just curious .
You must live next to satan. Dont ever borrow any tools, you might end up keeping em.
I love my ring floodcam, have had it for 2+ years in front porch; just recently, next door neighbor has an issue and told neighbors that I am recording them wtf 🤬 when in the past I have alerted them of suspicious activity with peeps going thru cars doors etc. all of a sudden they get pissy and think I’m recording everyone - spy work is not my hobby…. So I have moved my lights as to not light up towards their area of their drive way - neighbors from hell, one day they talk to you, next day they discredit you to e neighbors.
Can the the lights be switched off and on independent of the camera operation. ie...i just want to turn my lights on to welcome invited guest.
It seems the led light is part of the unit. What happens if the light is broken, throw the whole thing away?
Hi 諷子, yes, the LED light is a non-replaceable part so if it fails you have to scrap the whole light. But LEDs are very long-lasting so I doubt it will fail for many years, at which point you might want to upgrade anyway.
They can be replaced, just not with oem parts. You’ll have to rig it, but you can use a different floodlight.
Hi, great review. Question, where did you get that metal backplate from? I’ve just bought a ring floodlight but the backplate cracked upon installation
Can it install upside down?
Hi, I am thinking to use a spot for the front door and floodlight back door is that durable or pro ring doorbell is better? I really don't have foot traffic but a lot of delivery and I have home security without a camera
Thanks for your video and feedback
i have this camera and it installed an auto update and now it chimes when motion is detected. How do i turn this chime off?
Do the lights come on if the camera detects "video motion' and yet its out of the IR motion Range?
Why dident you show the night vision ??????
Thanks ;D
Concern is that when the kids play out in the summer months am I going yo get a notification everytime they enter the zone I have set up? Or can we auto set it between certain hours to enable the zone? Don't really fancy having to enable and disable everytime I leave the house?.. Surely there must be a work around for this?
As with all Ring products you have the option to "snooze" the alerts for upto an hour as they happen
It's a subscription that you can cancel anytime, not a contract.
Can’t hardly understand anything on the speaker/ microphone
Can you turn the flood lights on/off with the switch? Use them as regular lights when you need to?
I suggest using the light switch in the Ring app to turn the light on and off. Turning it off at the switch will take it offline, cutting off the cam connection to the wi-fi
@@CheWest352 makes sense. Thank you
You're welcome!
@@CheWest352 so true. Turning the switch off totally disconnects your camera.
So much talking ! Can you just show night view with flood?
Though
forreal thats what we all came here to see
@@henrysimmonite9977 bro just watch!
Hi does this have to be connected to the lighting circuit or can it be connected to the socket ring main . Thanks
Corporate greed will prevent me from buy- any other options??
The WiFi strength sucks they disconnect a lot and I have my wifi router like 6ft apart
Can it be installed in the ceiling or only in the wall?
Caution: you have to pay monthly fee to store your videos.
ror1948 dude no shit where do you get free cloud storage
Matt Joey look up Eufy floodlight camera...it has local storage and works great..very few false triggers..no cloud storage or extra costs
@@mattnj22 Actually no shit blink give you i think is 1 day of free storage on the icloud...no shit
I installed this and it only records and is active when the light switch is in the on posoition. When i turn my lights off the camera doesnt work. Wish i would have known tha before i would have just bougtht the camera and powered that sepearately.
Pete, does the light switch supply power to the unit? If so yes, switching it off will disable everything. But you should be able to keep it on. Those lights will only turn on when needed and it will be monitoring the rest of the time. The unit is supposed to be powered continuously.
Got it. The light is connected to a light swith that connects 2 other light sources so constanly having those others run all day everyday is not really good for the lights and elec bill. Great camera. Not disappionted at all even if i knew this before I'd would still purchace it. Just would have wired differently which i am planning on doing.
What size cable? Can I use a extension lead?
That's so good to tell the robbers they won't be seen if they stay out of the 140 degree range
There was no full feature review. No night time camera function and no light function at night either. Huge thumbs down!
Hi...where did you get the junction box from and whats the box size needed for the camera to mount properly? Any info greatly appreciated 👍
Matt Knudsen 4x6 box. Standard box for kitchens
Why does ring Floodlight goes OFF and ON all the time - day or night ???
Why do my lights flicker on and off at night? Very annoying.
Hi. How many pixels is the camera? When will Ring offer an improved model that allows us to disable the IR when the floodlight is triggered? Thanks
1080p; LifeHackster has a workaround in his review of this camera which will disable the IR when the floodlight is triggered. It involves running a small piece of fiber optic line from the floodlight to a sensor.
Why show video of all the examples you talked about but not the night vision/floodlight video?? Is it because it’s night vision and flood lighting is that bad you only wanted to show the positives?
Mi cámara duran 4 minutos y se apaga
Can you leave the lights on for the whole night or does it only come on when there is motion?
You can set your lights to come on at dusk and off at dawn, or you can actually add a time for on and a time for off. You can also manually turn lights on and off even if you're not at home.
Can the power be turned off by switching the wall switch without damaging the unit? Say when you don't want to have the camera on?
There is no electrical on/off for the unit so the only way to switch it off is by disconnecting the supply. When I was testing it, I had it wired in with others and could not isolate individual units so I stopped it triggering by turning the sensitivity in the app to minimum.
If it’s on a switch you can turn it off
Please show night view
How long do the bulbs last and can I get replacements at my local hardware store?
Those are non-replaceable LEDs and will last as long as the camera - I’m guessing 5+ years.
@@abdullahal-shimri3091 People haver been having problems with those cameras because the LEDs are going out a lot quicker than 5 years. Some just a few months.
Are there any other sucurity cameras that have the feature of being able to 2 way talk? Thank you.
Swann
Would the camera connect to an NVR that accepts wireless signals? I have an LTS NVR system which already has a wireless camera recording on it.
reading everyones comments above. Seems teh answer is no. Essentially what RING is doing.. by not allowing you to locally record.. is forcing you to pay a fee to review the data they will store. IF you lock into a contract.
Excelente
well...
no one realised the dark side of the camera...
the rickroll
Can this camera work with 220V and can we mount this on concrete wall?
Yes, the floodlight cam can be connected to a mains electrical supply between 110-240 volts. It's designed to attach to a junction box, so you'd need to run the electrical supply up/in the wall and into a junction box. This attaches to it. It's the same as connecting up any outdoor light, there is nothing special about that.
Does he know his video just started with him mid sentence
Thanks for the note. I think it clipped off half of the "R" in Ring. You didn't miss anything else.
Can you use a power outlet and connect it to the wall to power the flood light camera ? Anybody know ?
On the rear of the unit are just power wires. You could run a cable down to a wall socket and power it that way, but you'd have to make sure you mount it properly so it remains waterproof. It's intended to be wired into your house, but the unit would work no matter where the power comes from. Also remember it would not work if unplugged!
@@TechHiveVideo Thanks for the information! My wall socket power voltage go up to 120v is that safe? and once again Thank you for the reply and information.
The most you all got to remember is in order to this function well you need to pay a surprise subscription to the ring or and if not a course your vidio will NOT work , let me repeat that so you think was a typo your video will NOT work because you need to pay a small amount of subscribe and neither of the UA-cam video will tell you
Did you not watch the video? He states that specifically.
Can you set up the light to be on from dusk to dawn like a regular floodlight? Or a least is there a schedule timer to turn the lights on/off automatically?
No, the directions specifically mention this is not possible.
1:10 Most shitty, cheaply built homes made of papier mache have a decent Wifi connection on the outside shell. I've got a house made from black brick and I can barely get a signal between rooms!
Security is most needed at night..this has poor picture at night. That's why I'm out
Without an annual fee, you can’t watch any videos, just watch live,... even the canary gives you 24 hours of free video without a monthly or annual fee. That’s crap
if you cant afford $30 a year to see it you cant afford the $250 for the camera
dsruddell I disagree, you should get a free 24 hour video like other cameras allow you to have
Not sure $3 is an issue after spending $250 + power and other stuff you need.
That thing looks like a low cost R2D2. Does anyone get that? Or is it just me...a perfect storm where form and function crashed.
If the camera loses wifi, it does not even try to store and upload your video....poor design.....in this day and age of cheap memory, the camera should at least record the video locally and try to upload to the cloud when it can. Basic stuff RING.....
That would be a nice feature to have, but it's not as "basic" as you think. Most of the cameras we have tested don't have this feature. Nest relies on a constant connection, Arlo won't record with no WiFi. Netatmo does, but that's because it records locally.
I have to disagree in that it is basic (not necessarily simple), take Dropbox or even email. It stores locally and waits until it connects to send. It does not just lose your data. The lack of the product not storing locally, even temporarily, is not a technology challenge. Its hardwired so it cannot be a power or battery issue. A product that is supposed to help you safeguard your home and with wifi which can be interrupted for many reasons (AND that you are paying for it to capture and store video), I think it should be something these companies add to their future products. Thank you for reading and replying to my comments.
@@snehalpatel5524 and that feature was available it would reduce on lag of the video file. But it would also, remove ring from being a subscription provider.
I am trying out the ring camera without the flood light, and night vision is only good at 10ft. And at that distance, they can knock the camera around. I'm Working on getting a flood light electrical circuit, and use a real flood light with ring spot cam.
I ike footage lights camera
How long do the LED lights last?
I don't have a number for the Ring, but LED lights generally last thousands or tens of thousand of hours. An average household LED light is expected to last more than a decade with substantially more use than the lights on this unit. I wouldn't worry about LED lifespan.
Our ring camera got smashed by a group of teens
Ty Barkley life time warranty for that kind of thing
Then I would take the video. Find them and smash them back. Better yet find the parents and smash them with a bill.
Absolutely garbage cameras they shut their cameras off 3 to 5 hours a day and do not tell you that they shut them off for maintenance. I found this out by talking to ring. I have the recording of the Ring sales lady telling me this. Got rid of all my cameras because they kept going offline and kept having problems and ring themselves would not fix anything. Not a single thing got fixed. It only got worse
You lost me at subscription.... you pay for a unit, why can you not simply connect it to your home network and record to your computer's hard drive. Useless cash grab.
Dave, a lot of people agree with you. I encourage you to look at the Arlo and Netatmo cameras. Arlo offers 7 days of free cloud storage, Netatmo records to the device.
Slow down. He is speaking too quickly to take it all in properly.
These cameras are garbage. They charge a crazy yearly fee to have the products function. And other companies like nest don't do that. Plus after 10 months all my floodlight cams went bad. When I contacted customer service they gave me tracking info for New cams. After three months I never received anything. I called back to see what's up with the fake tracking number they gave me. And they said my cameras aren't under warranty and they couldn't help me. Complete scam if I ever saw one. I highly don't recommend these cheap cameras. Bad quality. They don't last. They are not reliable and don't last. They are not dependable at all. And the customer service is bad.

Product sucks
Shame on ring, 2 or 3 years captures video flury, foggy, call ring no help they suggestion is buy a new camera , no parts available like I said no help
You assume that a product so expensive and that requires a membership has a better life span, 2 or 3 years unacceptable.
People stop buying this product.
He is lying I got one and you can watch a video record without paying any money he just lying I don't know why she's doing that
Electricians charge thousands of dollars. They don't install or work for free. And, that two by four, electrical junction box, and orange extension cord didn't just magically appear when you received that camera drop kicked by a UPS driver onto your front porch, and even then, how many people want two by fours with exposed junction boxes, and extension cords tacked to the outsides of their homes? Ring has a doorbell installer they mention (actually a subcontractor), and they can attach your Ring doorbell camera, or flood light camera/s (you will need more than just one, unless your burglars are blind and can't see the exposed walls, fences, gates, and windows with no cameras) to a wall no higher than nine feet, and it won't work unless you pay an electrician to make it work and have it actually wired in permanently, so it cannot just be unplugged by anybody passing by, and not just have an electrical outlet exposed to the elements that also costs big bucks to have installed by a licensed (VERY important), and VERY expensive electrician.
Ron, the set-up in the video was a temporary one that enabled me to test four cameras side-by-side. I'm not suggesting that anyone mounts one of these cameras that way. It's actually fairly easy to replace an existing outdoor security light with one of these because the junction box is already there. Running new wiring and installing a new box is more challenging, so I guess it depends on how much of a DIYer someone might be.
I think that was for demonstration purposes. Most people are just replacing an existing floodlight with the Ring one.
WE DO NOT DROP KICK PACKAGES....PUNK
He very clearly stated at the beginning of the video that it could be easily installed it place of an existing security light otherwise would need more involved installation.
