This is a very special video Matt. I enjoyed every minute of it. What an opportunity! And very well done, as usual! Thank you for a most interesting tour.
This C-47 looks immaculate & so well preserved and I was very impressed with how preserved it is inside with everything in place. Such a beautiful aircraft and loved the departure and scenery. Great job Matt. And bless all the Douglas workers in Long Beach CA. 1941 RIP for most of them by now.
Hey Matt, thanks for the tour through this historic aircraft! It looks perfectly preserved, and it is really cool to see the aircraft still in the parachute jump layout. Love the surprise at the end as well 😂 That's a clever design.
Thank you Jesse. That was an exceptional video especially once with me in front of the camera. It was wonderful to see this beautiful aircraft at a former Swiss Army airfield amidst the Swiss Alps. The box was so hilarious.
Thank you Matt for your time in making this special video for us in you tube land. Matt, you always have interesting video's. Hello from New Jersey to the people of Switzerland. Enjoy your day. ♥️😊👍👍👍
Lucky you getting up close and personal with this beauty. Absolutely loved the 40s music you put over it. Also nice seeing the face of my very first subscriber!!
What a beautiful example of a C-47, the owner has done a wonderful job at keeping her looking like she does! I fondly remember my first time in the cockpit of a DC-3 was at the New England Air Museum in Connecticut in the USA.

Thanks for your most motivating comment. Very much appreciated!! It was super cool to see this wonderful aircraft at the airfield in Sankt Stephan amidst the Swiss Alps!
Thanks for this! It's great being able to experience these virtually in a format that's available to anyone. My grandfather flew one of these in WWII in the China/Burma/India theatre, flying what was referred to as "the hump" over the Himalayas. My other grandfather was a Bombardier/Navigator on a B-17 until he was shot down over Germany in 1943 while on their last mission. He was a POW for the remainder of the war at the POW camp Stalag Luft III, made famous by the movie "The great Escape".
God, one of my earliest memories was on a C-47. I was probably only 4 and my Grandma took me to an aerospace museum somewhere in Sacramento California. I didn't really know what war was let alone what WW2 was, I just remembere thinking how cool it was to be in an old airplane. There was an old vet there talking about the plane and i wish i had listened to him he probably had some cool stories about the plane. Any way thanks for posting this it brought back alot of nostalgia for me.
Matt my good friend, great video & outstanding job by those who refurbished this plane, looks new. I think I told you a friend of mine flew the DC-3 for a cargo company out of Hogan Airport in s/w Ohio, appx. 25 yrs ago, he said the controls were a little stiff/tight, but the plane was very reliable, I had no idea the Israeli defense forces had this plane at one time, great info, God bless you & D, from T & I
Thank you my good friend Steve. This beautiful Dakota is absolutely amazing! Yes, you have told me about your friend who flew the DC-3. It is one of the most reliable aircraft ever built. I got to fly on a C-47 a few years ago. The reason why my mom and I decided to buy tickets to fly on the C-47 at the air show was because my great grandfather was a paratrooper in WWII. He was with the 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment in North Africa and later the 456th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment assigned to the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment in the 82nd Airborne in Sicily. He was then sent back to England to prepare for Operation Overlord when he was transferred to the 101st Airborne and jumped into Normandy, and later jumped into Holland. He also participated in the Battle of the Bulge and Western Germany. He had made either 4 or 5 combat jumps during the war. He survived and passed away in 2006. Technician 4th Grade John J. Lower 1919-2006

Wait a minute ! Dc 3 conversion of a c 47. C 47 had large cargo door and a heavier floor.... this one has an air stair...indicating dc3. ...just saying. What a magnificent aircraft. Would like to know two things....how many total flight hours....and how many sets of engines since new?
Neat video. Thanks. (Just one pointer about English: I think you meant the captain moved an “aileron” to make the control wheel move like that. “Rudder” in English is for the vertical control surface on the vertical stabilizer.)
Does anyone have information about the 2 types of propeller blades that were used on these? Apparently the thin blade type wasn't very common. Would like photos that compare these 2 blades.
