I just want to thank you again for posting these videos. You've brought back one of the few happy memories of my childhood, growing up in the Bronx, where, going by the street names mentioned in the show, the 53rd precinct would have been located, had it not been fictional. Thank you so very much. I hope you are able to post more of them.
Hal Linden (the prosecutor) and several other supporting players in this episode had far more lines than required for AFTRA and SAG screen credits. Wonder why they aren't included?
+King Bee - Also Bill Macy was uncredited as "Lt. Magnuson." Car 54 was one of those shows that had fixed credit slides, only one of which was allotted for cast credits. So you see a lot of actors in various episodes, who would later be well known like Linden, fall off the credits. I think the most important thing at the time, especially for TV actors in New York in the early 60's, was to have a paying job. Some others who worked on Car 54 without credit included David Doyle, Florence Robinson, Michael Conrad, Roger C. Carmel, Nicholas Colsanto, Lainie Kazan, Dick Powell (!), and many, many others.
Ruth Kobart played the cop who's marrying Eddie Fisher. At the time this was taped, she may have had a featured role on Broadway in either HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS or A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM. She ended up playing the same role in the movie of SUCCEED. @@SallySallySallySally
Molly Picon, a giant of the Yiddish Theater. And all of those wonderful character actors from top to bottom. My God, she's wonderful.
I'll tell ya thankx for the post I forgot how genteel and robustly funny these shows were. Terrific acting and writing.
How cute!!!! Nice to see a young Hal Linden.

Well what would one expect without Gunther and Francis to patrol it?
Mr. Eisenberg was played by Jacob (Yankel) Kalich, Molly's husband. Molly was my mom's godmother.
Thank you! I did not recognize him, although I saw many of his pictures.
How amazing she was an angel. My aunt was bette davis never met her.
Barney Miller, without the mustache!!! And Bill Macy!
Note that Hal isn't given screen credit at the end....
Hal Linden. Captain Barney Miller himself.
Hal Linden!
Sometimes I think the Jewish charm made it what it was, unique!
Did you like Molly Picon?
3:33 Hal Linden! He didn't even get a credit.

SallySallySallySally Wow I knew he looked familiar. Thanks for the info.
Personally I would prefer Bridget Bardot over Maude.
@@jarnec9428 It just so happens Bridget is available and is waiting for you

no one can match the matchmaker....she could marry of the pope
What a great show! Seinfeld, Barney Miller and Taxi seem influenced by this.
Maybe it's because Hal Linden was in this episode 😉
Barney Martin (Mr. Seinfeld) was in at least one episode (when Toody infiltrated the Mob and arrested all those bosses)
is that Mel Blanc?
