I blame Kevin Feige… He hired the shitty Rick and Morty writers, he knew what was going on, he green lit what was happening, and the only thing he objected to was the stupid robot having a dumb looking hat…… that’s the only thing that he objected to out of all the SHIT that was put in the show….. it’s all Kevin Feige’s fault….

Disney has to be the studio with the most inefficient use of budgets. The money behind their projects rarely get translated on the big or little screens. Such a shame.

Eh, I feel like they have a lot of hits. 12 of the top 20 grossing movies are by Disney. It kind of seems like theybwent a little trigger, happy firing at the hip, hoping to land a shot. I'm glad they're seeing it, and hopefully, we'll start seeing good stuff from them again.

@@kevinsemidey2516 I thought I heard that they went double the reported budget which was 225, but there's a lot of "double" talk in this story, so maybe I misheard it. Imagine: all these scenes of her in the office as She-Hulk, quipping through scripts that would be rejected by the Ally McBeal writers, while costing maybe 1 million a pop. That's like buying a payloader to plant fence posts, which would all end up crooked, anyway.
This cancellation was the best thing to happen since No way home, infinity war and endgame.

Problem Disney n Marvel is that they have great creative source material as in comics at their disposal but get writers who think they know better. Problem lies there and also VFX is a major major issue because the studios demand the earth yet timescale isn't there to get the work perfect, the reworking etc VFX artists literally become slaves facing impossible deadlines. Plan better and give VFX ppl the time to get it right and get writers who are passionate on the subject matter.🙏🏾

The fact that they spent more on She-Hulk than HBO did on GoT, and that's all we got....should be a HUGE wake up call to K.E.V.I.N that their current plan isn't working. She-Hulk wasn't great IMO (I doubt I'm the target demo) but apparently the target demo didn't like it much either. DD and Madisynn were its only real saving grace.

How the hell did they spend that much money on a show set in modern time, with a so few characters and one of the worst scripts in all of Marvel. HOLY CRAP what a monumental waste of resources. I hope somebody got fired for that. The biggest shame is that I found Tatiana Maslani to be incredibly charming and watchable and stuck in an absolutely abysmal 2nd half plot with one of the worst endings of all time.

I feel like She Hulk is a classic example of being meta in a bad way. That finale episode was absolutely atrocious and honestly I don't know many people who were asking for a super hero courtroom series. We watch Marvel for the action and good story telling. This had neither. Hopefully, the next director to use She Hulk in a movei or TV Show fix the damage this show did.
All of your post is opinion not fact. Not everyone watches for action alone. Bet you didn't have the same opinion on daredevils courtroom scenes in his show

As for your assumption about me liking Daredevils courtroom scenes (because it feels like you're inferring that I'm sexist) I don't even remember them that's how much I didn't care about them. Daredevil had good action and good storytelling that's why I liked Daredevil and why I did not like She Hulk.
Yeah they jumped the shark with that last episode. The show had potential but there were definitely a few choices they made that dragged it down. She was great in the role though!

They did maslany dirty she was a great actress her performance in orphan black has to be some of the finest acting in TV scifi hope this is not the end of her career, and she get more job outside marvel.

Maslany wasn't a victim in this. She played a part in the writers terrible dialogue and plots. Also they were talking crazy to the fans. That led to the weird division between the show and potential supporters of the show

Not surprised at the news, the show was horrific. The moment I realised that this was gonna be a bad show with no regards to believable characters was when Jennifer told Bruce that she has it infinitelly harder than he does. Because of mansplaining. I remembered the scene from avengers where Bruce told everyone that he tried to kill himself because he saw no other way. What a great cousin Jen is in this show...

She Hulk as a character is fine, but you could tell the writers did not have good opinions of the Marvel fanbase, or at least male fans in general, and it translated into the writing. That's like making a new season of She-Ra with the writers of it being hard line incels, it's not going to end out well. Hopefully they can move forward and avoid dunking on the fanbase in order to score points with a demographic.
She Hulk could work in Jessica Jones or if they ever did Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Something more grounded and she doesn’t have to appear a lot in.
They can put the money in things that people want.

You are being WAY TOO kind about what went wrong with the She-Hulk show. The writing was at an all time low for Marvel. It’s really too bad because She-Hulk is a great character and could have been a little serious with a lot of fun as well. They messed up that one so badly.

Effects driven shows like this cost vastly more money than non-effects heavy shows. The Daredevil TV Show is a good example. It cost vastly less money to make.

not the high level version we're used to pre-Endgame, but maybe like a lower tiered group that had its budget cut and now they have to work their way up to that high status or something.
I could kind of see her as the FF's lawyer, but that might have to wait until after they're established for a while.
avengers aren't high level. lol..west coast avengers are more op. if you notice, the super heroes are becoming more and more powerful...therefore, all teams after endgame are more powerful.
The show just seemed like a platform to add back story She Hulk and Skar into the MCU to push forward and get to the Young Avengers.
They could break the 4th wall, but no F bombs or real violence, as a Hulk is known to do, because? Disney!
In the runs I've seen of She-Hulk, I don't think I've seen her get ultra violent in her own book. At least nothing higher than PG13 level violence. I don't know if I've seen her drop the f-bomb in her books. Maybe in her Sensational run, but if she did, they probably made a censorship joke on it. Or they had the curse all distorted like this: $#&% or @!#$%& kind of like that for any curses they wanted to say that were too heavy.

Correct me if I am wrong, didn't disney have to redo a lot of the CGI for She Hulk? If I remember correctly the original looked pretty bad. This could be one of the reasons they went so far above budget.

Only sometimes. But when you have something with bad cgi, it usually turns fans away from it before they can even really grasp the story. Yes the story/screenplay is literally the most important aspect, but how it looks plays a pretty important part as well.
I love this actress but I really dislike the script for this series. So I hope they still use her in a better place.

Love She Hulk and the actress. She did the best she could with a garbage script. The writers were obviously in over their head, knew nothing of She Hulk from the comics, hated the source material or cared more about making "their" show then doing justice to the character. We've seen a lot of that from Marvel and, surprise surprise, it's done poorly. They can cry budget overruns, blah blah blah, but if the story had been solid the audience would have shown up and they would find ways to work within their budget.
I look forward to She Hulk showing up in other shows/movies in the care of better writers.
I think this is a great move for marvel. I just hope we get a good She-Hulk in the future MCU

You know the best thing actually about this show is one of the things people were upset about with it from the start: Abomination.
Before starting: Llike a lot of people I much preferred him in the 2008 Hulk movie compared how he is in the show, especially because i don't understand how he changed looks or why the idiots at Marvel Studios allowed it. He Still Remains to be my favorite MCU villain after all this time, from that movie (And novelization), cuz his motivation and goal in life were very simple, understandable and relatable without needlessly being seen as sympathetic.
While the portrayal of Emil's change in She-Hulk was bad (Especially with how he reinterprets his part in the 2008 hulk movie), he actually did go through a similar good turn in the comics in between the 80s and 90s. Like he actually became a more sympathetic character, protector of sewer people and even an English teacher (Disguised), plus a man who deeply loved his wife and did want to see her; but not like how he was now (Until that got retconned into him being an abusive husband). Plus it was revealed he had a bunch of self-loathing that was supposedly the reason why he was stuck as Abomination 24/7 (Something his mcu could've evidently overcame). The bottom line is that, aside from the execution of it and the retcon of his part in the 2008 Hulk film, this is actually the most common accurate version of The Abomination outside of the comics now.
P.S.: With how he was in the show, I would have had where he's much more chill now because he's getting to do what he loves most at that fight club and with Wong. And he would jump at the chance to join the Thunderbolts in the supposedly happening MCU film

I'm one of the few people in the world that actually liked She-Hulk. I'm a fan of the character from the comics, so I was excited and knew what to expect going in.
It was a fun, breezy show that didn't take itself too seriously or give in to a lot of the cliched superhero cinema tropes we see. The character is interesting and the legal comedy aspect was a breath of fresh air.
I can understand the criticisms against it, though, and the budget and VFX are reasons for the studio to not invest in a second season. Particularly since you can't sell tickets and all like with movies. This wasn't everyone's cup of tea.
I think comic book adaptations are running into similar problems their source material encountered decades ago, in that there will be niche characters that the general public won't buy into and who won't sell well, enough to get a running series of theirs cancelled.
I actually really enjoyed the show too. I thought it represented the reference material as I expected. If anyone has read an actual Sensational She-Hulk comic, it was complete satire and did not take itself seriously. Even the guests that appear in the comic were written that way. A lot of viewers didn't understand why Daredevil was written like a parody of himself. Same with the Hulk as well. I think it would have been fun to see other future guest appearances. Oh well, I ope they at least keep Tatiana as She-Hulk if she appears elsewhere in the MCU.
Agreed! I am well versed in the She Hulk solo comics, so everything about the show made sense.

My only issue with the She Hulk show was the writing for the final episode as a whole. The fourth wall break was sloppy, since it took her to a different universe than our own, so it's more like a 3.5th wall break that does quite make it to us. The retcon of all the events at the end happening off screen was a real let down because, good or bad, those were the plot points the show went with, so resolving all of them off camera felt very similar to just not resolving them. Likewise, the show was literally subtitled "Attorney At Law" and so I was hoping/expecting to get just a bit more of that legal drama in the end, especially since Jen just broke the law by transforming into She Hulk after avoiding jail time on the specific circumstance that she NOT do that, so I was really looking forward to Jen, not She Hulk, getting a moment to shine by showing how she managed to overturn the previous ruling and get an official legal release to be a Hulk, but that was literally all hand waved away off screen and summed up as "and then we won in court, NEXT." So yeah, I loved the show, except for how much I disliked the finale.
I do look forward to the character returning in other shows, I especially want to see her breaking the fourth wall to talk to the audience only for the camera to shift to someone else just animatedly talking to the air like she's crazy.
Beautifully said. I did not want to hate it, but the mismanagement of the 4th wall break was what had me hating it. It felt lazy to me.
Leave the 4th wall stuff to Deadpool, I know the character has done it in the comics but in the context of the MCU it's not needed that time could have been better spent having her actual be a Lawyer
@@mbphilipblack8993 As much as I want more lawyer time, I do think it's important to let her have the fourth wall breaks as long as they are done right. Talk to the audience? Nothing wrong with that. Reaching outside of your video player to fast forward, rewind, or change the program? It's been done, nothing wrong with a little bit of that, with restraint. Breaking out of your streaming platform to visit a fictional alternate Earth version of the real world except you replace an actual human being with an AI robot? Is that even really a fourth wall break? If it had actually been Feige it might have been alright, but when you break the fourth wall and end up in another fictional universe rather than a fictional representation of our universe, you're really just doing the same thing America Chavez does. You didn't break the fourth wall, you dimension hopped into a universe where Marvel is fiction, but NOT into our universe. That was particularly poorly handled. However if you take an ability away from the character, you'll have just as many people angry about that as you would by simply mishandling the ability. There was a balance here, the writers failed to achieve that balance.

I was left with the impression that Marvel was Lucy and I was Charlie Brown kicking having another go at the football. I bailed on Inhumans after 2 episodes but there was always enough potential in She Hulk that I hung on until the uber-meta finale left me feeling as if nothing that happened had counted. It was definetly funny but I was half laughing at myself for getting suckered.

Pretty sure the reason it failed wasn’t that casual fans didn’t like the comedic/deadpool-esque stuff. The already established fan base (which I’m sure outnumber the casual fans) didn’t like/watch the show.
The reason it failed was both reasons, no one had interest in the show and the few people that did hated it. All I see are people complaining about how it ended like that’s not something straight out of the comics. I think people just don’t understand the she hulk character.

Ms Marvel I thought I wouldn't like it but it was cast and written really well, the mix between comedy and serious stuff was balanced nicely. However She Hulk I kept thinking and praying it would get better n more focused on a serious story side. Yet it got worse n worse and this breaking 4th Wall bullshit was just that simply BS. The real problem is they never got She Hulk/Jennifer Walters right. I've been waiting for She Hulk for the longest because she's a fun charismatic character and that's not what they put out at all. I hope they bring back the chanracter some day with a different actress, and a She Hulk more like the comics or like in the cartoons 2006-2007 FF4 cartoon and 90's Hulk Cartoon which is perfect for the MCU.
They need to retcon she-hulk by uncannonizing it. That way, skaar can be reintroduced as the badass that he is.

The reason I cancelled She-Hulk in my head cannon is because, if you think time travel solves by breaking everything then an interactive 4th wall wall break as a super power just destroys the whole universe. Nothing means anything anymore.
I honestly hope they tease her and Bruce in a post-credits scene of Captain America 4 provided Sam or Betty finds out Red Hulk is General Ross because it wouldn't cost much and it shows more intergration amongst the Avengers. Also, sometimes you need a Hulk to deal with a Hulk.
That amount of money seems a bit strange. She's a great actress, but when she turned green it didn't look believable, like for example, the way Zeb looked actually real in the Mandalorian. Hulk looked real in the movies, but she didn't, her FX sometimes looked really clunky like 90s computer animation. It wasn't the ABSOLUTE worst, but it wasn't very good if they wanted believability.

I’m glad Feige is at least able to slow things down. No need to play catch up because the MCU is the standard. I just hope with all the characters they’ve introduced continue to make appearances because what a waste of to not bring them back

listening to your points on the VFX issues, this made me think, one way I could see them bringing her back outside of movies or a full on Second Season, maybe they could do a Special or something. Or maybe a series of specials they do once and a while or something. Not sure on the length. But something that works in their budget and tech abilities or something.
Like some kind of Futurama movie approach.
I kind of recall there being a bit after they did a few seasons, Futrurama made a series of movies for a bit before they got full on seasons again.
She Hulk from the beginning wouldve been wayyyy better off as an animated show. Hell, maybe there’s still a chance that it could. And if it were me, I wouldnt go with the What If style animation, but rather lean more towards Venture Bros. or Scavenger’s Reign, i.e. something graphic-novel-esqus.

The problem with She-Hulk wasn't "bad" CG. I'm a classic Dr Who fan. Believe me, CG doesn't make or break a show. The problem is castrating the Wrecking Crew, giving DareDevil the walk of shame, and making old school comic fans the villain. It was awful.

Marvel must have spent a small fortune getting Harrison Ford on board as Thunderbolt Ross, but im betting they'll need to recast again before Red Hulk appears in anything meaningful........ Marvel really needs to make a proper, long term plan for Theatrical releases again, and just make all the Disney+ stuff lower budget, elseworld stories.....
I was looking forward to watching Season 2 of Marvel's What If series. I made it as far as I did with Marvel She Hulk ... episode 1. It's like Marvel only hires bad sitcom writers or their execs only approve bad sitcom scripts.
Never understood the big board that Disney released of future movies and tv shows. Who are those characters and why are they getting movies and shows? Had hopes for She Hulk but it was disappointing and I'm not a fan of Tatiana Maslany. Same for Daredevil. Don't like the character or the actor who plays him. But, I do like Jessica Jones with Krysten Ritter and hope it comes back.
