Hey everyone, While the majority of comments I receive are kind and encouraging, there are always those couple of individuals who feel the need to criticize my choices. This is not my first rodeo and I have hiked over 1800 miles on the PCT in the past few years. I create these videos to document my travels in to a vlog style, for myself, and for friends and family. I am at a tipping point where I no longer wish to invite unnecessary negativity into my personal life via the internet. I have my own struggles I deal with and this behavior just makes me want to make my hiking videos private. I don't need a strangers toxic behavior to influence my mood or my thinking. I have nothing to prove to anyone else but myself on this challenging-enough journey. All I can say to negative Neds or Nellies is get out there and hike the frickin' trail yourself. HYOH, customize your hike to suit your own needs, and don't expect everyone else to be or think just like you. Backpacking should be something we enjoy and conquer in our own unique ways. There is no right or wrong way to hike or backpack if it makes the individual happy and adds to the quality of one's life. We discover what works and doesn't work for us by doing things repeatedly or for longer periods of time if needed (some take more time than others to figure things out). To everyone else, thank you for always sending me positive messages. Your words of encouragement and interest in my journey mean a lot! 😘

I am personally soooo proud of you and think you use a lot of wisdom in your choices. I personally hope you don’t stop…but that’s my selfish wish. I love watching your videos and would be sad to see them end. No matter what though, I agree with you 100% that it is your hike, your choice! Sending you major happy hiker vibes!

We're proud of you, so keep going! My dermatologist suggested layering sunscreen. I apply EltaMD UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 first and then on top I apply Neutrogena sheer zinc mineral sunscreen on top. This combo has been working great all summer and I live in Utah where the sun is very intense.

You're doing great! Wonderful journey and your accomplishments will stay with you forever. Maybe put a towel under your cap and drape it over your neck to limit too much sun exposure. Thanks for the wonderful trail filming as I am dreaming up a 2 wheel hiking cart for the lower 1/3-1/2 of the pct and need to get a feel for how wide the wheels can be spaced and how elevated the pack should be to clear the rocks and brush. It's primarily to relieve the water load in the drier areas and will probably be left behind when fallen trees in the path become more prevalent. They say the adventure can really change you and we're hoping for the best for you and your family.

As a fellow Texan, I’m so proud of you. 653 miles is amazing. Congratulations! So glad you had your skin cancer taken care of and your diet preparation was extensive. I hope it pays off. I know I personally could never function on trail food. Nutrition is way more important than what people think. I’m loving your videos. Thanks for taking me along.

I hope you’re able to flip a switch and put those jerk comments out of your mind. We feel SO lucky to be welcomed into your world with each and every one of your vlogs. It’s funny how you feel in the forest - it’s how I would feel in the desert! When they’re burnt I know that makes a difference how you feel. Love that you love nature. And BRAVO for listening to that inner voice and had your ear taken care of in familiar surroundings. Maybe you’ll bump into our sobo niece who’s making good progress
getting most of WA state behind her. Yellow ball cap, red braids - from Victoria 🇨🇦 Was fun to get a glimpse of your son!

You are a rock star Tracy. I enjoy the heck out of your hiking vlogs and you are the only PCT hiker I am following this year. I'm really proud of you. What you decide, section or thru, is your business and no one else's. I really hope you keep putting out content because it's good stuff and it's never negative or divisive. Just nature, hiking and I appreciate it. ❤

Hey Tiki bird Tracy, I'm loving your videos. I found you this year, I would love to hike that trail but I'm too old now and I've just totally enjoyed all the information you share, Not only about the flora, the birds, locations, your struggles, decsions...I love hearing about what food you eat everything!!! It's really a unique experience to watch you and I hope you're going back to the trail. I'm watching this EP. 20, right now and it says you are returning...so I'm so thrilled because I look forward to watching your videos every week... I am originally from California. I'm now living in Arizona and I'm really loving all that back country in California to many places I visited that I could get to by car... you're in areas I've never seen.... It's been a sheer delight!!!... I have no clue what you're going through with the people negativity. I have no idea why people would be negative to such an amazing person... I'm in absolute awe of your travels. I'm also watching the Hiking with the Codgers as well. They're a little more ahead of you, but you might be closer to them because you're going to Chester,CA that's up by Mount Lassen... The Codgers just got into Oregon, probably the first week of July... And it's been fun watching them as well. They're older guys and they're with a younger hiker that joined them... But they don't give all the details you do about a lot of the things you're seeing and stuff. It's interesting to see their point of view, but you're the only solo woman that I found on UA-cam that's hiking the PCT... Be proud of yourself. Oh my god, that is quite a feat! Anyway, I look forward to seeing you some more! I hope you let us know if you stop... But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll keep going....

Tracy, there are always negative nellies out there. They live their miserable life projecting it on to others. Pay no mind; they’re jerks. On a happy note, this was one of my favorite videos. I LOVED how you brought us through your decision making. It was wonderful. I’m sooo glad you hooked back with your family. I’m sure that nourished you. Glad to see you back. (I see my dermatologist once a year. If you live in the sun it’s mandatory). Awesome that you’re ok with the ear. Be safe!

Congrats on completing the desert section. I’m totally a section hiker when it comes to such a long hike like the PCT. You are a hiking beast! You are wise to plan your meals better. So many get sick from hiker food. It’s really hard on the body. The body needs more than calories. It needs actual nutrition. Much light weight commercially made trail food is heartburn city. The trail from Chester should be good. There are long stretches of no water and no shade on the hat rim trail between old station and burney falls do the earlier you go the better but there has been a lot of snow in northern California but it should be good by the time you get back on trail. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

Wow, wonderful journey. You put in some big miles! And Skin Cancer is a scary for All us older hikers!!
I hiked only small portions of the PCT. May I ask" Do you think that Oregon and Washington have the same sun exposure as Southern CA? I was curious, because the "Crest" (above tree lines) trail may have equal sun exposure along all 3 states. I don't have your extensive experience..
Does the trail in OR and WA crest rise above tree lines where there's still high sun exposure? Maybe it's all the same. What do you think?

I had melanoma about 15 years ago, so I’m pretty good about getting yearly skin checks. I had them cut off a few other spots they wanted to just watch. I’ve been fine ever since, and go through a lot of mineral sun screen! My face can’t handle chemical sun screens.

Bravo to all you’ve hiked👍👍 whatever you decide -you decide what’s best for you. Nothing wrong with being a section hiker but keep on hiking and listen to your body and you know when it’s time as for me, I realized at mile 77 😅I am a section hiker 😊I can’t carry or walk that long, without really being into too much pain, but I am definitely being a section hiker and I will definitely get out as much as I can more than others have done, and probably more than the ones that are criticizing you fuey on them👎🏻👎🏻 no worries👏👏also take care of your skin and that’s good news on type of cancer. My daughter in law just had a double mastectomy on a very rare cancer. But she is a survivor and doing great. So far cancer free🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
