- On a brisk, chilly day in Lancaster county, Strasburg Rail Road would be continuing their long standing tradition of running "Santa's Paradise Express". These trips would be pulling happy passengers to Paradise and back to East Strasburg for a short ride through the countryside. The locomotives assigned to pull these jolly trains were N&W 475 and CN 89. N&W 475 is a 4-8-0 "M" Class built in 1906 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for the Norfolk and Western Railway and CN 89 is a 2-6-0 mogul built in 1910 by the Canadian Locomotive Company built for the Grand Truck Railway, which would later be the Canadian National Railway. CN 89 would sport a Pennsylvania Railroad 3 chime whistle and 475 would sport a 12-inch hooter whistle.
In charge of the half-hour trains today would be 89, and 475 would be pulling the hourly excursions. The two trains would meet at Cherry Hill, where one would pass on a passing siding while the other waited for the clear. Both 89 and 475 really put on quite the show today, pounding up and down the grade to East Strasburg with plenty of stack talk. Each train would terminate at Paradise, or Leaman Place Junction. Today we catch 89 twice at Paradise, once for a short clip and again for a longer clip that even featured two awesome Amtrak meets. It was a great opportunity to see these perfectly timed meets with 89 at Paradise!
We were also able to try out some new angles today, including some different ones at Cherry Hill. LO&S 10 and Cagney locomotive 3 were also in operation today, pulling some shorter excursions at East Strasburg. Please mind the wind noise, as it was extremely windy in Lancaster today. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Great video man! The stack talk on 475 is phenomenal as always! Its an nice selection of locations and bonus footage with the Cagney and LO&S 6
Train Chamber thank you! Glad ya enjoyed it
Non-stop steam action for the Christmas Trains!
I liked 89 when she wore 7312's whistle... But that LV 3 chime does suit her quite nicely.
Tiny Railfan Productions the old 3 chime she had wasn’t actually 7312’s, rather what some people have said to be 90’s original whistle. Also she has a PRR 3 chime in in the video
@@KeystoneRailProductions what was 90s original whistle and why haven't they put it on 90 as the regular whistle
De Kuforiji 90’s original whistle was supposedly a Crosby 3 chime, the one 89 wore in 2017. 90 sports a reading 6 chime currently because that is 90’s staple whistle
@@KeystoneRailProductions okay but are they going to put the Crosby on 90 sooner or later but now that I think about it its going to be weird to hear 90 with a 3 three chime instead of the reading 6 chime.
@@blackpanther1013 90 wore a 5 chime back in great western and then when arriving I thinking strasburg changed it to reading 6 chime and no 90 doesn’t spots 3 chime
@17:27 SRR # 89 greeted AMTRAK #98 Great video

Eastern PA Railfan Productions you’re welcome!
Nice
The Carolinian Railfan thanks!
No one judge me on this but what was the reason for the caboose used behind 89? Does Strasburg offer caboose rides during the Christmas time each year since I recall seeing a video on this last year with 475
Evan's Megazord reviews It’s for Santa
@@ITrooper089Productions you sure????? Thought Santa rode in the Philadelphia and reading observation car
Evan's Megazord reviews To tell you the truth, no I’m not sure
Awesome video! Great catches (especially with 475!) did you notice 475s bell has slowed down a little?
Steam Z Productions thank you! I did notice 475’s bell clapper has slowed a little as well
It's a easy fix, just need to change the pump psi.
Awesome video hope to see more btw at 4:55 how come 89 didn’t whistle for the crossing
I am wondering that, too.
