- Insane MTB freeride sends on my road bike! I ride downhill mountain bike trails, urban MTB freeride, a huge stair set and a massive vertical slab of rock down the side of cliff edge all on my road bike, would you ride this bike?
I'm back on my Ghost road rage road bike and of course i'm spending the whole time off road and getting as crazy as possible on this strange positioned bicycle! I love new challenges and trying different things on bikes so today I thought i'd ride the steep and fast DH trails of Tidworth Freeride bike park which is filled with huge berms, jumps of all kinds and even some wooden features. I then ride past one of the 7 wonders of the world called Stonehenge which is a crazy old rock monument. From here we head to the Glastonbury Tor which is a church atop of a hill but down the face of it is a huge stair set of doom that I thought would be a great idea to bump down on my fully rigid road bike. After getting bumpy we head to Bristol and ride down a huge vertical slab of rock on the side of a cliff edge and my my brakes get burnt out before riding some urban MTB freeride spots in the town!! Would you ride this bike at these locations?

@@Andy-jp1kc The steering wheel probably makes it easier if I'm being honest. Those bars dropping like that make it really sketchy.

It’s kinda frustrating watching him ride soooo well on a road bike through the trails and here I am can’t clear a small double on my actual trail bike. This man’s got talent that just puts anything I do to shame.

Incidentally, I know it's a spoof, but hands up who else thinks Sam actually makes a great history presenter! Sam, If you made a series/another channel where you travelled to different places and talked about the history, I'd watch.

Honestly I can't imagine what goes through people's heads when they are riding a mountain bike that costs several thousand, and Sam passes them on some weird freebike or a road bike, I am pretty sure I would stop riding after that lol

This guy can ride anything with wheels
They used to ride downhill without any suspension back in the day, obviously not on as gnarly tracks as we see today though.
Modern hardtails sort of play into this notion as well, not only are they easier to pump and climb with but also have reduced cost, complexity, and weight.

Hmm not really. It's not a roadbike but a gravel/cyclocross style bike. With what looks like 38 tot 42 c profiled tyres. With normal 25c slick tyres there would be absolutely no grip on that slab.
@@crapiecorn true, true... Was I saying smth about tyres though? And isn't gravel a type of road serface, just like compacted soil? But most importantly does my ironic comment look like a serious discussion?
@@feedbackzaloop it's all in good spirit mate :) All hydro brakes are plenty strong. But with normal road tyres you just lock up the wheel and slide all over the place.
So that would have been a suicide mission.
Totally. I've ridden my gravel bike on black diamond mtb trails, it isn't exactly fun but they will take it. The only problem with my specific bike is that the hydro disks will overheat to the point of smoking if I don't stop and give them a rest.
@@crapiecorn worth noting F1 cars have so much more grip on full slicks, too much really, than they do with tyres that have any type or tread.
Granted tyre width and surface imperfections make a difference also.
Sam definitely gave a spot of entertainment to the people climbing the stairs. Sam riding the drops in the root garden asking who would put that in a trail was comedy gold. History lessons on historical sights by Sam are always welcome. I am sure Martyn Ashton will be quite happy his shoes are being put to good use by Sam, especially for trials skills which were absolutely on point. The slab was totally awesome! Great video Sam!

Full props for not lowering the seat until the last half of the video... Unlike Mr. M.A who did most for the road bike party videos with the seat slammed to the bottom. and I did get where the shoes were from. And good job doing the Slab with the seat up...?.. I think the other guy who road it on a road bike did it with the seat down. Hats off to both of you.

Sam, I am not one to be influenced by people regarding what bike I ride but at 51 and still in love with bikes the way I was in my teens I have to tell you I bought my NS because of you and now I guess it's time to look into Ghost.
