Thank you Matt. I had no idea you could design your own packing tape. I have said for one year it’s time to post and sell. I haven’t made the jump to sell. But have a house of furniture. A lot of useful tips! Thank you!
Thanks so much Matt! Also, when shipping cutting boards or wooden items that have board butter on them, wrapping them in freezer paper is an awesome option too! It doesn’t look greasy like regular shipping paper can sometimes!
Website video = Yes please! What a great video. Thank You Sir. Just retired from Gov and woodworking is my passion. Looking at making some income while having fun.
I am interested in a video to show how to develope a website start to finish. What I like about your videos is that you are sensitive to the fact that we all don’t know everything already. Thanks.
Sticker Mule is expensive but they do make good stickers, used them for some fun projects in the past. great idea with the custom packing tape and packaging.
Love the information. Thanks for sharing. Been a subscriber for quite awhile now and love to see the success you and the Mrs. are experiencing. God Bless you and the family 🙏🏼❤️✝️❤️🙏🏼
Btw thank you for making these videos they're all so amazing and I have learned so much already being a beginning wood worker myself. We are just now getting our area set up.
This was a GREAT video! A lot of lil questions were answered... Thanks a bunch. Would really like to see a web video... Really like the way you keep it simple 🤗👊
Hey Matt, I FINALLY got around to watching this video. Yes, I would love to see a detailed video on how to set up a website, as well as how to get paid online. Thanks for all you do.
I work for USPS and we have a Customer Pick Up service on our website that is free. Basically you go to the website and set up a pick up and your carrier will take all your packages that day. You can leave them by your front door even and they will come up to collect them. If you have any questions about this service please let me know.
Thanks for all this info sir! If you look up water activated dispenser for your tape, you won't need to wipe it down each time. Added benefit is the paper towel savings. Hope that helps in some way. Merry Christmas!
I would love a website set up video. Currently going through wix to set up ours and the look is easy. its when you get into the nitty gritty of shipping and taxes and blah blah blah lol
Thanks for the video. I’m in the early stages of preparing to Launch a business and shipping worries has made me decide to stay local, advertise on social, and pickup only. I don’t plan on mass production of anything, All custom. So I think this might work. Having said that I’d still like to See the website how to video.
Absolutely interested in getting a website up. I am currently on some social media platforms, working on making a presence there. But I know that an actual website would be an awesome place to showcase what you are doing, services offered, and get a chance to interact directly with customers. It's been awesome watching your business grow here on YT, and I continue to enjoy the content, keep it up!
Great vid, Matt! Definitely interested in a website setup/design/marketing vid. I'm just getting started in woodworking, hoping to acquire enough skills quickly enough to produce/sell cutting/charcuterie boards & pens in time for Christmas season this year. Retired 2 years ago after 40 years in software development, might also be interested in helping your fans set up their own marketing websites.
Watch black tail studios video about a table that the cops thought had drugs in it. But, he shows a picture of how he built the packaging around the table. Just to give everyone an idea of what shipping large items might look like. Plus it's kind of a funny video.
Just a note - if you have a scale without the hold button, put the item on the scale and then zero the scale. When you remove the item, you'll have the weight on the display.
Another helpful video as always, great work. I understand now that you’re looking at getting custom branded boxes, but when you were just using plain cardboard ones was there an advantage to buying them as opposed to getting the free priority mail boxes from USPS?
Matt, your timing is perfect. I want to sell what I am making, shipping was a black hole. I will take you up on the offer or Making A Web Site.... Also, How to be paid for product? Many Thanks, GOD Bless
it depends on the product and where I am selling. Etsy gives you better ranking in search if you offer free shipping so I bake it into the cost of the product. On my website some items I offer free shipping if they order a certain amount.
I’d like to see how you set up a website. I have built several over the years but it has been a long time and technology getting better. Dreamweaver was very difficult don’t want to go back to that
The absolute worst experience I've ever had was with UPrinting. Avoid at all costs. Sticker Mule is more expensive, but when it comes to maintaining your brand, it's worth the cost.
Great video as always. I need advice on shipping large items like an entry table I build. Guessing the box will be 56 x 15 x 34. According to UPS it could cost nearly $400 to ship it to the Coasts. I'm in the midwest. I REALLY don't want to build things that need assembly by the customer. A lot more of my time to build something like that. It could in some cases be equal to the cost of shipping. As you said...Time is Money. So my question is are there other options besides UPS? According to USPS this box size is too big.
Matt, how would you go about funding for your start up? Did you take out a business loan? Youve got some fancy equipment in your shop that i dont think i could afford!
Do you find that including the tract (I assume that's what the 'million dollar question' is, since I've seen those before) has had any negative effect?
Howdy Mr. 731.. In conjunction with several of your recent videos..."Chasing Your Fears, Shipping, Website design..." Shipping: My shop/s are on my property, as such is my home address. Once I start production and selling items, I don't necessarily want the world knowing my home address. I understand getting a P.O. Box as a business address, but I'm missing something. If you have relatively large items to ship and for what ever reason it gets returned, how is that done? Website: A "Fear" I've had is learning what all the buttons/options do. It's a bit overwhelming. I tried to learn Excel....it's got like 10k icons :) and I ended up not learning it, I'll just use a pad and pencil. I just don't see how YOU find the time to build stuff and everything that goes with that AND do computer stuff. How do you manage your time with all that?
Time management is a HUGE challenge for me. Only recently was I able to hire an editor to help me with some of the video editing. Once the website is up and running there is minimal action you have to take on your part. Website building isn't very hard with today's modern website building tools. I can show that in the upcoming video. there are some steps but for the most part, it is fairly straight forward. Shipping, I'm not exactly sure on large items (like tables, etc.). I would just ask the PO when setting up the box. There may be a way to have an item forwarded to you via USPS or UPS etc. that doesn't show the customer your home address.
@@731Woodworks Thank you for the reply Sir. I look forward to your web design video. Pencils are sharpened, notebook is fresh and ready Magister (Latin for teacher, took 2 years of Latin in High School '88-'92, Go Bobcats!!)
