venti is not really a boomer. its the opposite actually. of the three archons he is the only one who actually interact in his people, well at the very least the people in the tavern.

There are lots of shops in Liyue that have stories about Rex Lapis visiting their business in disguise, implying that Zhongli’s probably been running around Liyue talking to people and going on shopping sprees for centuries. He has a job where he gives lectures, and nearly all the Liyue characters know him either from hearsay or from meeting him. You’re right about Ei though, since she’s been sitting in her Plane of Euthymia and hasn’t had any social interaction until the traveller. Venti’s probably a lot closer with the people he knows due to his personality, but I wouldn’t say that he’s the only archon out of the three who interacts with his people. Also I doubt that that’s the definition of boomer either way. I think it’s just used in this case to say that Venti’s old.

True, tho I don’t think it’s entirely that simple as they also appear to be sentient, and possess real human/biological bodies and emotions. Scaramouche seems like a good example as he is clearly motivated by his own desires and ambitions, rather than programming. Though they are similar to that of androids, yes, but there are still some differences.
Ei is a teen, a child, and a boomer all at once. She stays in the Plane of Euthymia as a teen would stay in their room all the time. She throws temper tantrums like a child when Miko doesn't bring Dango, and she is a boomer because she can't understand the things in the present, even I laughed when she didn't know what a photo was and got amazed when she saw it. Then she had an identity crisis after she looked at it!!!!😂😂😂
the photo thing is a play on japanese believe photo steal your soul when they first saw it many century ago. early photo had bad exposure which make the picture look pale like ghost.

I love Ei's story quest, though it's very clear to me that they're going to do the same thing with her that they did with Zhongli. They're obviously setting up for us getting another more serious story quest in a future update that will more than likely include another weekly boss. If I had to guess I'd say we're going to get a deeper dive into her backstory and end it off fighting Chiyo (The Oni girl from Ei's trailer). The fact that they left her ultimate fate ambiguous tells me that they have future plans for her, so having her show up as a weekly boss on the final Inazuma island makes the most sense to me.

Eh, it's clear this story quest was to introduce us to the fact she's quite disconnected from her people from her isolation. I think we might get their... assuming her being the Shogun doesn't hamper that.
I just love how much she's a realist that she can't even understand fiction unless its explained to her almost perfectly. That and she's a sucker for sweet things, its adorable really, no wonder Yae loves to tease her. This is one of the best character quests out there(with Zhongli's) in my opinion, fun but giving alot of depth to the character as well. And second part with the duel is just epic,shows her serious side as well.
Quick fact: She does give back the visions she took after the archon quest, you can see this for yourself if you visit the 3 people that you helped earlier in the archon quest, this is most apparent with the guy in konda village, who was waiting for someone but he forgot why and for whom, but if you talk to him now he remembers everything i.e. he got his visions back hooray! Ei is kind

Honestly, throughout her duel with Kujou, I thought he was going to be granted a vision because mans ambition to right the wrongs of his family, become a better head, and uplift the commission seemed really strong. It would have been so cool if he suddenly received a vision, of any element really, so that Ei can also see in-person her people’s own ambitions and cement the realization that her people’s will is strong and a “stagnant eternity” isn’t the right way forward.
It is said that Archon don’t give or denied vision. Maybe his ambition is not strong or widely enough to receive a vision. And when I said archon don’t give or denied vision, the vision is granted by heavenly principles, which is i believe the case.
Fun fact: The line "Have you tried turning it off and on again" was improvised by Corina paimons VA it's surprising mihoyo kept it (by the way I wanna point out that the original line was never shared by Corina or mihoyo the original line is unknown cause Corina never shared the original line in the TikTok.)
I just realize Ei's quest has been "hated" by some ppl. I can understand it could be better if the quest explore more on her past, which was what I anticipated before playing the quest, but this is not a dating sim. Ei's was locked in the plane for hundreds of years, this is the first time she came out, and while she came out, she saw a lot of things that give direct impact to her view of life, things that are usual and may even be like a dating to us have complete different meaning to her, and while walking on the street, Ei discuss philosophy with the player and let player understand her ideal more, while also showing how the new change have an impact on her, this is character development. It is not the perfect quest that fulfill her potential completely, but not a bad quest either, it give a good contrast to the archon quests and let player relax a bit after the relatively heavy plot, But honestly I would like to know more of her past in chapter 2.

After seeing so many people hating on her story quest, I was reluctant to do it, but after doing it, it was surprisingly fun and nice to me, not really a dating sim as most people like to say it is. Here's my POV about her story quest, it's a bit long lol The trip helped Ei realized her idea of Eternity might not be that good, that people can't help but always changing and moving forward. On other hand, people say they want her to see the damaged done to her people, so many people died and suffered blah blah. Yae literally said this: Ei seeks eternity. To her, mortal lives come and go in the blink of an eye. They are beings of thousands years old, and it sounds cruel but they don't really care about human's life. Remember Cloud Retainer (the sulky bird adepti, I dunno if I recall her name right) wanted to nuke Liyue? Yeah? And Xiao's voice line: "Trouble means nothing to adepti (this case, gods and archons). There is no trouble that can last for a thousand years." To Ei, she realized that this time she was wrong in her pursue of Eternity, then she will re-think and find a new "Eternity" for herself and her people. She only looks at the bigger picture. That's what I mean. You might still want to hate on her for her overlook about people's suffering but well, I just show my opinion, "Do not judge adepti/ archons by your mortal ideals" But yes, I was a bit upset how the story move so fast. But looking back, Ei's will was already shaken when she saw the wills of people want to fight with Traveler. Her little smile before the last battle was like "Come, prove me wrong, show me your wills are strong enough to shake even Gods" ...Thank you for reading this long ramble lol

Vậy khúc của anh giai Kujou Kamaji và suy nghĩ của Ei về gia tộc Kujou đồ vứt đi hết : )... Tính ra chắc do mọi người cứ so với Story quest của Zhongli với Venti thôi. Bản thân mình thì đánh giá story của Ei không được 10/10 thì cũng được 7/10 á.

@souless for those that still haven’t completed the quest, that’s fine, they don’t know, but I feel like people can just say “Raiden” and “Ei” is hardly a spoiler anyway since the name was revealed a while ago. I just feel like constantly referring her as “Baal” misguides/confused people. I’ve come across a number of people that are still trying to distinguish post-quest. I guess we can also blame Tectone lol he still calls her Baal.

I think the problem some see with this quest is it isn't immeadiately a lore expansion on Raiden. But if you look at her characterization in the ending of the Archon Quest it was a necessary event as she didn't really change her stance about Eternity but just surrendered in honor of being defeated. It was important that she learn to not put Inazuma in a stranglehold towards a strict state of no progression and that there's another kind of Eternity she can pursue with Inazuma's changing times. Plus, a small breather after the Archon Quest.
@@KatsuImagitian yeah. Tbf for the archon quest it's all happened because ei got the ptsd from khaenri'ah and wanted to prevent the same catalysm from happening in inazuma.
I think if the next character quests are good it will be fine, people often forget that mond was fun because so many character quests happened in there Hell after liyue was done people also hated the quest, it wasn't until the story quests came out that people started to enjoy the lore expansion
Also side note - if you talk to the three people Ayaka asked us to help, you find out the Raiden Shogun gave back all of the visions. (Hopefully the Sakoku Decree will come next in a future update and they have an open festival like Liyue/Mondstadt)
I hope in the next few patches they'll update the npcs to show off their Visions in some way while still keeping them looking similar. Just so we can be able to see vision bearers we'll never play as to make the world feel a bit bigger y'know?

Honestly, I never saw this story quest as a hangout event or date like a lot of people I know have said. Yeah, it's not based on her backstory cause we already have has a snippet of her backstory in the Archon Quest, not much with Venti and Zhongli with the whole animated cutscene. Instead, we got to know her as a character with her personality and all that BECAUSE we didn't get to do that in the Archon Quests. We got to spend time and got to know Venti and Zhongli in the Archon Quests which is why in their story quests, it's about their backstories. Maybe they'll touch upon Ei's backstory in her future story quest but for her first quest, I think this is good set up. Getting to know her personality, helping her understand the world she shut out and just seeing she handles serious affairs is a good start. Who knows if Mihoyo decided to slap us with a sad story, seeing her change her way of ruling Inazuma or learning about wondrous things about the Inazuma that was ruled by Makoto
Good point. Plus, we've got basically a whole year ahead of us before sumeru, so a more lore heavy story quest in a future patch is not exactly impossible. I'll keep hoping in the meantime haha

I kinda expect that to happen during the quest but SPOILER after getting a certain friendship lvl with Raiden/Ei she states that she wasn't the one giving out visions / stopping them. It's implied that Celestia is control of that.

@@djosmi5083 I think it's not that the Archons themselves grant the Visions voluntarily. Like, they don't look at a person and think "You get a Vision, here it is!". Rather, it feels like a Vision will appear before a chosen person if their ambition aligns with an Archon's ideals. The Archons themselves have no knowledge on who gets a Vision and what the exact criteria is. In Ei's case, Vision granting goes directly against her ideal which is why no Electro Visions have been given out. It's not that she herself is refusing to give out Visions, but an Electro Vision cannot manifest itself due to its existence contradicting with its Archon's ideal of Eternity (an Eternity without Visions and ambitions).
the reason the story quest isnt like venti and zhongli’s story quests are because we arent really friends yet and had just fought each other to the death. so we cant just waltz in like how we would with venti and zhongli and talk about khaenriah bc they dont really know each other yet

Oh my gosh you missed the 'I Reincarnated into the Raiden Shogun' story Also, I think the people who actually read the dialogue are alright with it. The 1st half shows us she's more than a robot. The 2nd half shows some consequences of her actions, and her resolve as an Archon. Hopefully Part 2 addresses the lives lost during the VHD, and Yae's fox form lol
The first half actually has some interesting lessons for Ei too, like the dango milk guy says his business is bad because people aren't willing to try new things, reflects on Ei's own struggle with accepting change and new things hurting her nation. While reading the novels, the romance one makes her think about how making decisions is a source of uncertainty and agony, like she's struggling to decide on the future too. The photo speaks for itself and makes her reflect on her own existence.

@@kevingoh6217 and her fight with kamaji where finally she told us "everything is changing, but some don't" was also a good connotation that each passing days, some clan has lost their arts but not their ideals. Raiden Shogun judge everything by their shells, so she probably will kill Kamaji on the spot bcs he's weak as military head. While Ei saw that Kamaji is indeed weak, but he has the willpower like his ancestor did. And the fact that the clan who will replace the Kujou clan is rather sus and use underhand tricks, it's good that ei decided to postpone the replacement bcs she saw the new clan has potential to become corrupt. The fight was also a good turning point how ei changed her ideals on eternity. She doesn't need it to be physically eternal, she just need to maintained it to be ideologically eternal like what makoto did
For those saying this quest wasn't lore-heavy enough, you do realise it would be a shitty move to ask Ei about her traumatic past, right? Imagine losing your sister and someone coming up to you like: Ei: "Mm, this dango milk tastes so good-" Traveller: "So, tell me about the time 500 years ago and the Khaenri'ah war." That being said, I think the quest should have explored Ei's ideals and reasons more though.
i do think asking about her trauma is a shitty move, but it is what drove her to implementing the vision hunt decree after all, and the sakoku decree are kinda forgotten 😭 maybe we can explore her motives more through other ways? her quest feel jarring because of how light it feels even though it hasn't even been long since yknow... a civil war started because of her... and there was a resistance group rebelling against her ideals and everything, the story moved on waaay too fast after something that was built up to be such a big deal, so it's weird to me.
Uuuh, that's actually better since Makoto and her friend are the reason why Vision hunt and Sekoku decree happen. In fact why they don't do it instead of drinking milk and reading novel? Is Makoto and her friend only a template? Like I want to see how Ei truly cherish her moment with them and it drives her for unchanging eternity but then she realises this isn't the eternity her sister nor her friend want. But nope, hang out quest 😂
I dont think the Traveler forgiven her previous sins, but the point of showing her the changes that her country has become and how she is unfamiliar with these said changes made her think of what she is supposed to be implementing for. The story is not making her sinless, just what she said about the transgression of the Kujou clan that they can't be forgiven but in passing time it can change for the best. Leaving the country in eternal stasis with not work, it will eventually turn into the husk of the past stuck in their position. Its like placing the country in resin, it stays as is but they will surely be beautiful if the place can be modified in open. Also, hearing that Ei are not familiar in photos, wait till she sees the modern smartphone. That will even "shock" her, pun intended.
I genuinely liked this quest because of it not being super lore heavy (which i usually love) yet it still told a great story. It showed Ei's realization about Inazuma and its people and the inevitability of change. All of this is hidden through a cutesy date (which I loved playing). Add onto this how we saw how Ei really is :DD
Raiden Shogun and Ei are wonderfully complex characters. The people who reduced her to "She did nothing wrong" or "She's an evil overlord" are missing the point.

True!, but Mihoyo will have a bad feeling giving in fact a vision to some NPC, his appearence will change?, who knows, we all know that there's some NPCs with visions, but we never actually have seen them, It feels like if we ever are going to see someone getting a vision for the first time, probably will be a pre design character with colorful hairs and not like an NPC. But this is the perfect situation to get a vision, life and death situation, hard emotions put in a fight, determination to fight knowing that the shogun can decapitate you, this is the moment
If it won’t be Kamaji, the first npc to get a vision could end up Being Ellin, it’d be so cool to finally see her achieve her dream of being a knight, with the help of her vision, perhaps a Pyro vision would fit her? As Pyro visions usually comes from a strong passion, and Ellin has a strong passion for becoming a Knight of Favonious!

I don’t know what happened with Diluc, like I said, almost. Anyways, back on track lmao- Perhaps Noelle is Geo because she’s set in her job and takes it extremely seriously, compared to some other people who don’t want the job they got. Lemme think, For Electro it’s identity, Ei/Raiden, Traveler and their sibling, Razor and Wolf/human, Fisch is being princess and stuff and finding her people, Beidou murdered a sea monster that no archon could kill, without a vision, and became famous. I think that counts as identity. You get the point, I think the only exception would be Lisa, but Celestia is too much of a simp to make her do something to prove her worth. Pyro is passion for something you love, and never giving up! (Check the list above) Anemo is free-spirited/freedom(Jean, Venti, Sucrose, Kazuha, Sayu, Xiao) Hydro is probably smarts, as every character is pretty smart(Except maybe Childe but-) And then geo could probably be set in stone. Ningguang is set with her job as head of the Liyue Qixing, Albedo is set with his job as the alchemist of monstadt, Zhongli is very set with his new mortal life(and he’s also the geo archon himself), and Gorou.. we don’t know what he does anymore- there isn’t we haven’t met him yet now that The archon quests are finished. Cryo is cold personality ig? (See Diona, Qiqi, Kind of Ganyu and Chongyun, Eula, Ayaka(having been in hiding for a while due to fame), Kaeya and Rosaria, and also Signora kind of. So, yeah, in conclusion, Noelle got her vision probably because she’s fine with the job she has now, even if she wanted a different one. She is, if I may say it… “Steady as stone”! So I guess a Geo(Figuring out she won’t become a knight and accepting it) or Electro vision(Finding her place in the knights) would work with Ellin as much as a Pyro(Trying her absolute hardest to become a knight!) one would! I honestly really like Ei's story quest and yeah I don't get people being upset about it. They think all archon story quests should be like Zhongli's which is deep, lore heavy and tragic but honestly I really prefer Venti and Ei's. Story quests are supposed to either introduce us to a character (ex. Klee, Eula, Hu Tao) or if they are already a well established character- we instead delve deeper into who they are as a person. (Jean, Ganyu, Childe). Lore wise we already have so much information from the archon quest, so it makes sense for part 1 of Ei's story quest to primarily be about Ei reconnecting with the world she shut herself from. Its clear she is out of touch with many things, which isn't good for the leader of a nation even one that strives for "Eternity" whatever that really means because its an extremely abstract concept that can be interpreted in so many ways but so far it is leaning towards a unchanging eterenity. People can meme the fuck out of the dango milk and light novels, but I don't want to hear about them saying its a bad story quest. Maybe slow down and take in what their saying or improve your reading comprehension.
Or don't Listen to people like Adel Aka calling it bad. The Archon quest was rushed but the Story quest was a good character building moment as what story quest should be at least. His takes on RWBY are good as it's a bad show now but Calling Genshin Impact story becoming like Rwby is stupid. Genshin is a game where you explore an open world so him wanting the game to even spoon feed lore that's in the Artifacts that's already in the game Is ridiculous. It's not like a TV show like RWBY where it has to give the important story beats to the viewer in the show don't tell fashion they keep harping about. It's an open world game where you can find important beats like the fate of those three vision wielders who had their vision returned. The game is detailed and you have to discover it yourself.
Like everything else in the 3rd act of the Inazuma story quest, it glossed over the realities of war and what the Shogun did. Under Ei's orders (and/or lack of oversight), there was an entire war. People died. People's lives were ruined. Visions were taken, driving some insane. The Fatui distributed Delusions, killing and aging some, and were allowed to run amuck throughout Inazuma. But the story quest doesn't bring this up at all, and Ei doesn't even seem bothered by what she allowed to happen - and some of it she expressly KNEW, like the Fatui's involvement, yet she still doesn't care! She acts as though this entire thing was just some disgruntled citizens that she didn't properly listen to, and if she just learns more about them, it'll all be okay - as though the countless sufferings of her own people don't even matter. And the Traveler doesn't seem to care either - doesn't even try to bring up Khaenri'ah or ask about their sibling, either. If the Archon quests had actually taken the time to go through the horrific things that happened and have Ei realize, learn, and attempt to reconnect with her people and fix the horrible things she allowed and even ordered to happen, then having a story quest like this would be fine. But that didn't happen. So all this feels like is a blatant disinterest in the lives lost or injured literally weeks before.
@@mirandamobley9904 Technically, she didn't cause the war. It was the shogun that created the Sakoku decree, not Ei. Though Ei agreed on the decree being the right thing to do, she didn't have any direct take on the decision. And the shogun created that decree after being swayed by the Fatui and Signora (since the Shogun it's a puppet whose purpose is to follow eternity, if someone convinced her that the visions were a menace to eternity, she would've of course tried to take countermeasures). The way Ei reasoned was like what you would do when you're forcing a child to follow the rules: the child would just scream and cry, but you would still force him to do it because it's the right thing to do. The same goes here: she didn't do anything because she thought that the resistance didn't understood what she was trying to do and since she believed that she was in the right, she didn't do anything (mostly because the shogun herself was enough to beat them). And I say that she BELIEVED that she was right, because, of course, she was wrong. Only here, where she experiences all these things in her story quest, she understands that she was wrong The problem is that the dead won't come back, so the only thing she can do to atone for her sins is to be a better leader from now on
@@Oclur she's the one who created the puppet in the first place, and she knew its weaknesses. and, she fully knew what the fatui were doing - she said so herself! it was ei's cowardly, honestly child-like decision to lock herself up in the plane of euthymia that allowed all of this to happen in the first place, and then she CONTINUED to allow it to happen, and only stopped it because she was defeated - NOT because she changed her mind. and she's allowed to get away with this - with being an inept, uncaring ruler for centuries, allowing her people to be ruled by a puppet who is unfeeling and easily manipulated. the traveler (which is what i'm most annoyed about) doesn't seem to care about this either, since they don't ask ei about anything or attempt to push her. despite HER puppet's actions indirectly being the reason for teppei's death. does ei even know about teppei? or the countless other people who were killed or injured? it doesn't seem like it. if she did, you would expect some remorse. i don't really get any sort of remorse from her, though. she doesn't even seem like she's trying to atone. if anything, she just seems to think that she made a few logisitical errors that must be corrected. maybe i'm misreading her, but i really don't see any display or hint of emotion or remorse surrounding everything that's happened. i get that she wouldn't exactly have a heart-to-heart with the traveler, but the story writers should have at least hinted it. if they did, ig i was too stupid to pick it up.

In her closing lines, she says, about the Tenryou commission, that they're "not the only ones to have made mistakes". She was impicitly referring to herself, of course, implying that maybe she has some kind of remorse. Looking at the type of character she is, is hard to tell: she doesn't really show her emotions, except for some glimpses The problem is that Genshin Impact has this bad attitude of forcing content in specified quantity of quests and acts, meaning that some content has to be cut out. Otherwise they probably would've shown that, but I think this won't be the last time we see her

There are lots of shops in Liyue that have stories about Rex Lapis visiting their business in disguise, implying that Zhongli’s probably been running around Liyue talking to people and going on shopping sprees for centuries. He has a job where he gives lectures, and nearly all the Liyue characters know him either from hearsay or from meeting him. You’re right about Ei though, since she’s been sitting in her Plane of Euthymia and hasn’t had any social interaction until the traveller. Venti’s probably a lot closer with the people he knows due to his personality, but I wouldn’t say that he’s the only archon out of the three who interacts with his people. I love Ei's story quest, though it's very clear to me that they're going to do the same thing with her that they did with Zhongli.
They're obviously setting up for us getting another more serious story quest in a future update that will more than likely include another weekly boss. If I had to guess I'd say we're going to get a deeper dive into her backstory and end it off fighting Chiyo (The Oni girl from Ei's trailer). The fact that they left her ultimate fate ambiguous tells me that they have future plans for her, so having her show up as a weekly boss on the final Inazuma island makes the most sense to me.

I just love how much she's a realist that she can't even understand fiction unless its explained to her almost perfectly.
That and she's a sucker for sweet things, its adorable really, no wonder Yae loves to tease her.
This is one of the best character quests out there(with Zhongli's) in my opinion, fun but giving alot of depth to the character as well.
And second part with the duel is just epic,shows her serious side as well.

Quick fact: She does give back the visions she took after the archon quest, you can see this for yourself if you visit the 3 people that you helped earlier in the archon quest, this is most apparent with the guy in konda village, who was waiting for someone but he forgot why and for whom, but if you talk to him now he remembers everything i.e. he got his visions back hooray! Ei is kind

Honestly, throughout her duel with Kujou, I thought he was going to be granted a vision because mans ambition to right the wrongs of his family, become a better head, and uplift the commission seemed really strong. It would have been so cool if he suddenly received a vision, of any element really, so that Ei can also see in-person her people’s own ambitions and cement the realization that her people’s will is strong and a “stagnant eternity” isn’t the right way forward.
It is said that Archon don’t give or denied vision. Maybe his ambition is not strong or widely enough to receive a vision. And when I said archon don’t give or denied vision, the vision is granted by heavenly principles, which is i believe the case.

I just realize Ei's quest has been "hated" by some ppl. I can understand it could be better if the quest explore more on her past, which was what I anticipated before playing the quest, but this is not a dating sim. Ei's was locked in the plane for hundreds of years, this is the first time she came out, and while she came out, she saw a lot of things that give direct impact to her view of life, things that are usual and may even be like a dating to us have complete different meaning to her, and while walking on the street, Ei discuss philosophy with the player and let player understand her ideal more, while also showing how the new change have an impact on her, this is character development.
It is not the perfect quest that fulfill her potential completely, but not a bad quest either, it give a good contrast to the archon quests and let player relax a bit after the relatively heavy plot, But honestly I would like to know more of her past in chapter 2.

After seeing so many people hating on her story quest, I was reluctant to do it, but after doing it, it was surprisingly fun and nice to me, not really a dating sim as most people like to say it is. Here's my POV about her story quest, it's a bit long lol
The trip helped Ei realized her idea of Eternity might not be that good, that people can't help but always changing and moving forward.
On other hand, people say they want her to see the damaged done to her people, so many people died and suffered blah blah. Yae literally said this: Ei seeks eternity. To her, mortal lives come and go in the blink of an eye.
They are beings of thousands years old, and it sounds cruel but they don't really care about human's life. Remember Cloud Retainer (the sulky bird adepti, I dunno if I recall her name right) wanted to nuke Liyue? Yeah? And Xiao's voice line: "Trouble means nothing to adepti (this case, gods and archons). There is no trouble that can last for a thousand years."
To Ei, she realized that this time she was wrong in her pursue of Eternity, then she will re-think and find a new "Eternity" for herself and her people. She only looks at the bigger picture. That's what I mean. You might still want to hate on her for her overlook about people's suffering but well, I just show my opinion, "Do not judge adepti/ archons by your mortal ideals"
But yes, I was a bit upset how the story move so fast. But looking back, Ei's will was already shaken when she saw the wills of people want to fight with Traveler. Her little smile before the last battle was like "Come, prove me wrong, show me your wills are strong enough to shake even Gods"

Tính ra chắc do mọi người cứ so với Story quest của Zhongli với Venti thôi. Bản thân mình thì đánh giá story của Ei không được 10/10 thì cũng được 7/10 á.

I just feel like constantly referring her as “Baal” misguides/confused people. I’ve come across a number of people that are still trying to distinguish post-quest. I think the problem some see with this quest is it isn't immeadiately a lore expansion on Raiden. But if you look at her characterization in the ending of the Archon Quest it was a necessary event as she didn't really change her stance about Eternity but just surrendered in honor of being defeated.
It was important that she learn to not put Inazuma in a stranglehold towards a strict state of no progression and that there's another kind of Eternity she can pursue with Inazuma's changing times. Plus, a small breather after the Archon Quest.

Also side note - if you talk to the three people Ayaka asked us to help, you find out the Raiden Shogun gave back all of the visions. (Hopefully the Sakoku Decree will come next in a future update and they have an open festival like Liyue/Mondstadt)
I hope in the next few patches they'll update the npcs to show off their Visions in some way while still keeping them looking similar. Just so we can be able to see vision bearers we'll never play as to make the world feel a bit bigger y'know?

Honestly, I never saw this story quest as a hangout event or date like a lot of people I know have said. Yeah, it's not based on her backstory cause we already have has a snippet of her backstory in the Archon Quest, not much with Venti and Zhongli with the whole animated cutscene. Instead, we got to know her as a character with her personality and all that BECAUSE we didn't get to do that in the Archon Quests. We got to spend time and got to know Venti and Zhongli in the Archon Quests which is why in their story quests, it's about their backstories. Maybe they'll touch upon Ei's backstory in her future story quest but for her first quest, I think this is good set up. Getting to know her personality, helping her understand the world she shut out and just seeing she handles serious affairs is a good start. Who knows if Mihoyo decided to slap us with a sad story, seeing her change her way of ruling Inazuma or learning about wondrous things about the Inazuma that was ruled by Makoto
Good point. Plus, we've got basically a whole year ahead of us before sumeru, so a more lore heavy story quest in a future patch is not exactly impossible. I'll keep hoping in the meantime haha

after getting a certain friendship lvl with Raiden/Ei she states that she wasn't the one giving out visions / stopping them. It's implied that Celestia is control of that.

@@djosmi5083 I think it's not that the Archons themselves grant the Visions voluntarily. Like, they don't look at a person and think "You get a Vision, here it is!". Rather, it feels like a Vision will appear before a chosen person if their ambition aligns with an Archon's ideals. The Archons themselves have no knowledge on who gets a Vision and what the exact criteria is.
In Ei's case, Vision granting goes directly against her ideal which is why no Electro Visions have been given out. It's not that she herself is refusing to give out Visions, but an Electro Vision cannot manifest itself due to its existence contradicting with its Archon's ideal of Eternity (an Eternity without Visions and ambitions).
I loved this quest! Everyone assumes Ei is this serious and strict woman, but she’s really just a big dork like the other archons

Also, I think the people who actually read the dialogue are alright with it. The 1st half shows us she's more than a robot. The 2nd half shows some consequences of her actions, and her resolve as an Archon.
Hopefully Part 2 addresses the lives lost during the VHD, and Yae's fox form lol
The first half actually has some interesting lessons for Ei too, like the dango milk guy says his business is bad because people aren't willing to try new things, reflects on Ei's own struggle with accepting change and new things hurting her nation.
While reading the novels, the romance one makes her think about how making decisions is a source of uncertainty and agony, like she's struggling to decide on the future too.
The photo speaks for itself and makes her reflect on her own existence.

@@kevingoh6217 and her fight with kamaji where finally she told us "everything is changing, but some don't" was also a good connotation that each passing days, some clan has lost their arts but not their ideals. Raiden Shogun judge everything by their shells, so she probably will kill Kamaji on the spot bcs he's weak as military head. While Ei saw that Kamaji is indeed weak, but he has the willpower like his ancestor did. And the fact that the clan who will replace the Kujou clan is rather sus and use underhand tricks, it's good that ei decided to postpone the replacement bcs she saw the new clan has potential to become corrupt.
The fight was also a good turning point how ei changed her ideals on eternity. She doesn't need it to be physically eternal, she just need to maintained it to be ideologically eternal like what makoto did
For those saying this quest wasn't lore-heavy enough, you do realise it would be a shitty move to ask Ei about her traumatic past, right? Imagine losing your sister and someone coming up to you like:
Ei: "Mm, this dango milk tastes so good-"
Traveller: "So, tell me about the time 500 years ago and the Khaenri'ah war."
That being said, I think the quest should have explored Ei's ideals and reasons more though.

i do think asking about her trauma is a shitty move, but it is what drove her to implementing the vision hunt decree after all, and the sakoku decree are kinda forgotten 😭 maybe we can explore her motives more through other ways? her quest feel jarring because of how light it feels even though it hasn't even been long since yknow... a civil war started because of her... and there was a resistance group rebelling against her ideals and everything, the story moved on waaay too fast after something that was built up to be such a big deal, so it's weird to me.

I dont think the Traveler forgiven her previous sins, but the point of showing her the changes that her country has become and how she is unfamiliar with these said changes made her think of what she is supposed to be implementing for. The story is not making her sinless, just what she said about the transgression of the Kujou clan that they can't be forgiven but in passing time it can change for the best.
Leaving the country in eternal stasis with not work, it will eventually turn into the husk of the past stuck in their position. Its like placing the country in resin, it stays as is but they will surely be beautiful if the place can be modified in open.
Also, hearing that Ei are not familiar in photos, wait till she sees the modern smartphone. That will even "shock" her, pun intended.

I genuinely liked this quest because of it not being super lore heavy (which i usually love) yet it still told a great story. It showed Ei's realization about Inazuma and its people and the inevitability of change. All of this is hidden through a cutesy date (which I loved playing). Add onto this how we saw how Ei really is :DD
Raiden Shogun and Ei are wonderfully complex characters. The people who reduced her to "She did nothing wrong" or "She's an evil overlord" are missing the point.
Geo archon: has no mora cause he can just create it,but forgotten to before his gnosis was taken
Anemo archon: used all of it for drinks
Electro archon: meditates all day so no need for mora
Hydro archon: Has justice,no mora
Pyro archon: crap i burnt it all
Dendro archon: rich in knowledge,not mora
Cryo archon: has no mora cause fatui deals her stuff for her

But this is the perfect situation to get a vision, life and death situation, hard emotions put in a fight, determination to fight knowing that the shogun can decapitate you, this is the moment
If it won’t be Kamaji, the first npc to get a vision could end up Being Ellin, it’d be so cool to finally see her achieve her dream of being a knight, with the help of her vision, perhaps a Pyro vision would fit her? As Pyro visions usually comes from a strong passion, and Ellin has a strong passion for becoming a Knight of Favonious!

For Electro it’s identity, Ei/Raiden, Traveler and their sibling, Razor and Wolf/human, Fisch is being princess and stuff and finding her people, Beidou murdered a sea monster that no archon could kill, without a vision, and became famous. I think that counts as identity. You get the point, I think the only exception would be Lisa, but Celestia is too much of a simp to make her do something to prove her worth.

Ningguang is set with her job as head of the Liyue Qixing, Albedo is set with his job as the alchemist of monstadt, Zhongli is very set with his new mortal life(and he’s also the geo archon himself), and Gorou.. we don’t know what he does anymore- there isn’t we haven’t met him yet now that The archon quests are finished.
Cryo is cold personality ig? (See Diona, Qiqi, Kind of Ganyu and Chongyun, Eula, Ayaka(having been in hiding for a while due to fame), Kaeya and Rosaria, and also Signora kind of.
So, yeah, in conclusion, Noelle got her vision probably because she’s fine with the job she has now, even if she wanted a different one. She is, if I may say it… “Steady as stone”!
So I guess a Geo(Figuring out she won’t become a knight and accepting it) or Electro vision(Finding her place in the knights) would work with Ellin as much as a Pyro(Trying her absolute hardest to become a knight!) one would!

I honestly really like Ei's story quest and yeah I don't get people being upset about it. They think all archon story quests should be like Zhongli's which is deep, lore heavy and tragic but honestly I really prefer Venti and Ei's. Story quests are supposed to either introduce us to a character (ex. Klee, Eula, Hu Tao) or if they are already a well established character- we instead delve deeper into who they are as a person. (Jean, Ganyu, Childe).
Lore wise we already have so much information from the archon quest, so it makes sense for part 1 of Ei's story quest to primarily be about Ei reconnecting with the world she shut herself from. Its clear she is out of touch with many things, which isn't good for the leader of a nation even one that strives for "Eternity" whatever that really means because its an extremely abstract concept that can be interpreted in so many ways but so far it is leaning towards a unchanging eterenity.
People can meme the fuck out of the dango milk and light novels, but I don't want to hear about them saying its a bad story quest. Maybe slow down and take in what their saying or improve your reading comprehension.
Or don't Listen to people like Adel Aka calling it bad. The Archon quest was rushed but the Story quest was a good character building moment as what story quest should be at least.
His takes on RWBY are good as it's a bad show now but Calling Genshin Impact story becoming like Rwby is stupid.
Genshin is a game where you explore an open world so him wanting the game to even spoon feed lore that's in the Artifacts that's already in the game Is ridiculous.
It's not like a TV show like RWBY where it has to give the important story beats to the viewer in the show don't tell fashion they keep harping about. It's an open world game where you can find important beats like the fate of those three vision wielders who had their vision returned.
The game is detailed and you have to discover it yourself.
Like everything else in the 3rd act of the Inazuma story quest, it glossed over the realities of war and what the Shogun did. Under Ei's orders (and/or lack of oversight), there was an entire war. People died. People's lives were ruined. Visions were taken, driving some insane. The Fatui distributed Delusions, killing and aging some, and were allowed to run amuck throughout Inazuma. But the story quest doesn't bring this up at all, and Ei doesn't even seem bothered by what she allowed to happen - and some of it she expressly KNEW, like the Fatui's involvement, yet she still doesn't care! She acts as though this entire thing was just some disgruntled citizens that she didn't properly listen to, and if she just learns more about them, it'll all be okay - as though the countless sufferings of her own people don't even matter. And the Traveler doesn't seem to care either - doesn't even try to bring up Khaenri'ah or ask about their sibling, either.
If the Archon quests had actually taken the time to go through the horrific things that happened and have Ei realize, learn, and attempt to reconnect with her people and fix the horrible things she allowed and even ordered to happen, then having a story quest like this would be fine. But that didn't happen. So all this feels like is a blatant disinterest in the lives lost or injured literally weeks before.
@@mirandamobley9904 Technically, she didn't cause the war. It was the shogun that created the Sakoku decree, not Ei. Though Ei agreed on the decree being the right thing to do, she didn't have any direct take on the decision. And the shogun created that decree after being swayed by the Fatui and Signora (since the Shogun it's a puppet whose purpose is to follow eternity, if someone convinced her that the visions were a menace to eternity, she would've of course tried to take countermeasures).
The way Ei reasoned was like what you would do when you're forcing a child to follow the rules: the child would just scream and cry, but you would still force him to do it because it's the right thing to do. The same goes here: she didn't do anything because she thought that the resistance didn't understood what she was trying to do and since she believed that she was in the right, she didn't do anything (mostly because the shogun herself was enough to beat them). And I say that she BELIEVED that she was right, because, of course, she was wrong. Only here, where she experiences all these things in her story quest, she understands that she was wrong
The problem is that the dead won't come back, so the only thing she can do to atone for her sins is to be a better leader from now on
@@Oclur she's the one who created the puppet in the first place, and she knew its weaknesses. and, she fully knew what the fatui were doing - she said so herself! it was ei's cowardly, honestly child-like decision to lock herself up in the plane of euthymia that allowed all of this to happen in the first place, and then she CONTINUED to allow it to happen, and only stopped it because she was defeated - NOT because she changed her mind. and she's allowed to get away with this - with being an inept, uncaring ruler for centuries, allowing her people to be ruled by a puppet who is unfeeling and easily manipulated. the traveler (which is what i'm most annoyed about) doesn't seem to care about this either, since they don't ask ei about anything or attempt to push her. despite HER puppet's actions indirectly being the reason for teppei's death. does ei even know about teppei? or the countless other people who were killed or injured? it doesn't seem like it. if she did, you would expect some remorse. i don't really get any sort of remorse from her, though. she doesn't even seem like she's trying to atone. if anything, she just seems to think that she made a few logisitical errors that must be corrected. maybe i'm misreading her, but i really don't see any display or hint of emotion or remorse surrounding everything that's happened. i get that she wouldn't exactly have a heart-to-heart with the traveler, but the story writers should have at least hinted it. if they did, ig i was too stupid to pick it up.

But my point here is that this trip helps her realize that. In her closing lines, she says, about the Tenryou commission, that they're "not the only ones to have made mistakes". She was impicitly referring to herself, of course, implying that maybe she has some kind of remorse. Looking at the type of character she is, is hard to tell: she doesn't really show her emotions, except for some glimpses
The problem is that Genshin Impact has this bad attitude of forcing content in specified quantity of quests and acts, meaning that some content has to be cut out. Otherwise they probably would've shown that, but I think this won't be the last time we see her
