Joe, the gearing for the v10 plus is different from the base v10 in that the 7th gear is shorter for the sake of acceleration. The non-plus is definitely the better cruiser.
Get the 'plus' map put on it then seeing as they're identical and you're on to a winner!
Really don’t understand how UA-cam works with regards to views and subscribers. You should have 10x what you have for the content you produce. Been following you since the beginning and the consistently is impressive. Keep at it, Joe!
Totally agree with you regarding the wheel size. The only reason wheels have to be big sometimes is to fit huge brakes, but I'm sure a 19" wheel does an equally good job as 20" or even bigger ones to fit the brakes though. I think of it this way, have you ever seen an F1 car with such a tiny tyre wall?
Heard one of the early ones when walking through the city years ago. Lovely sound. The cars themselves do nothing for me at all though.

Truly the best everyday supercar .......if you own a petrol station. Yes there are faults. I’ve noticed the high revs in my TT 3.2 . Thanks to Audi and joe.
I've driven the spyder version with slightly less HP. I ran it around in the Nevada high desert at triple digits for hours. A sublime car. Handles great, gearbox almost as good as a PDK(that' saying something!), and that ENGINE! So linear and smooth.

Good review mate! With regards to the rpm at 70mph, I understand the frustration, but I would bear in mind that it revs to almost 9k! Relative to its redline, 3k rpm is not that bad. Anyways, loved the video, love the car!

Like the color, like the sound. The headliner does indeed seem a bit off - looks like what I have in my 2007 Z4. The 19s in the rear may be more 'practical' but it looks a bit unbalanced. They almost look like drag racing slicks in size vs the fronts.
Was that Snake Pass in the footage, use it a lot but you rarely get a good run because you get so many peeps driving 10-20mph under the limit. The R8 is one of those cars that looks better in the flesh, it is not worth its value but it is a head turner, that sound is awesome.
Not sure the next generation will be better. Down sized engine's and turbos will be no match for that V10. Will they keep it?
Sowlbody has actually ticked the white roof option?? The standard is black, but the white one is a 0£ box
Another great video Joe! Those plastic paddles are a travesty on a supercar. For whatever reason, all VW and Audi paddles are terribad. Paddle replacements was one of my first mods on my Golf R (went with S2T Performance Paddles). Cheers

I’m not sure about the plus- but I have a 2017 standard spyder- fuel economy is actually ok- motorway sees high 20’s, one thing not mentioned is the new models (2016-18) do have cylinder on demand. Anyway- when you’re pushing on you can’t expect more than 10-13mpg. Disagree with the 19’s - needs 20’s
Great review, who doesn't love that v10! Only dig is that the audio is phasing from the different clips, it makes your voice sound little bit weird and echoy. Not a big deal, but just thought i'd say!f

Great video, What mic did you use in the engine bay and did you connect it up to something like a zoom h1, getting engine and exhaust is the main challenge

I thought the heads up display was the future 20 years ago. Seems most don't care about it. I've fully enjoyed them on the cars that I've had. Engine mic was excellent. And who really uses the radio or cup holders in a car like this. :) LOL

Joe you forgot to mention the shitty paddles that come on the r8.same paddles on the ttrs and rs3 smh.
I know you're a busy man Joe but you need to keep up with current issues. The new Porsche 911 has also lost the well positioned cup holders. When will this anarchy end? :)
When things were new for Audi, like the full digital cluster, they were LOOOONG ways ahead of the competition. But now... in 2018... competition has finally caught up and to be honest, the UI looks outdated and still the same. The new BMW clusters are on point man! Too bad Audi haven't evolved...

19.8 MPG average for a V10 supercar is bad??? Sorry I didn't realise how spoilt people are these days. My standard e92 M3 is sitting at a constant 17 MPG average :D
Average at 65-70mph, it's combined average after a week was 12 mpg
