- In this video, we surprise our buddy with a 1984 squarebody shortbed truck. Ya'll know our buddy Ron (aka Money Money!); well, his wife decided to surprise him with his dream truck - an '84 Indian Bronze/Tan C10 shortbed. I have a similar story. 12 years ago, My Wife did the same for my birthday. I had been prowling the alleys, back yards and tree lines for a '48-'54 Chevy. Couldn't find anything worth bringing home & eventually found a elderly guy a couple of blocks from where I worked at the time. He had a '53 3100, perfect patina but not for sale. Told me after a nice long talk that he had a '50 3600 that was available. Went out to his Son's farm in the hills, saw the truck and knew I had to have it right there and then. Unfortunately I didn't have all the money and fortunately he was a really nice guy. We agreed that I would pay him what I could afford each month until the truck was paid off. I belong to a old truck website and casually 😉 mentioned what I had in the works. Got a letter from some good friends in California and they included a few dollars to help get the truck home sooner. Didn't ask for that at all...just a kind gesture from like minded truck friends. The payments went on steadily for the first few months and then kinda slowed a bit because of the car manufacturers bankruptcy problems...I worked at a dealership on commission. Not a good combo. Well, My Wife, being the wonderful lady she is, paid off the balance I owed, without me knowing, in time to bring the truck home for my 40th birthday.

I hear ya. My uncle just passed away from this goddamn opioid crisis were having. He had a84 short bed Chevy. 500 horse built 350 of course. And he just restored a 49 Chevy pick up pained it like a bronze .Old crager wheels. Beautiful truck. Now he's dead and didn't even get to enjoy it. He was 59 years old rip Larry.

Isn't that cool? It seems that everybody has a story about a squarebody. The first truck I ever drove was a brown early-80s c20 across a cow pasture.

Recent follower. Enjoy your videos but more, I like the camaraderie you guys have. Wish I could find a group of guys like you in my area. I live in a rural town of 2000 in South Dakota. I have a 37 chef PU that was my aunt and uncles. I drove it in 68 but it needed work, clutch was slipping and more. I wanted it but their son wanted it so I was out. Unfortunately, their son was killed by a sleeping semi driver. It took years for my aunt and uncle to let it go but it's mine now. I started working on it with my dad but he died suddenly and I quit. and stored it for decades. Now I have it home and Im going to proceed. Originally I was thinking stock but that babbet bearing six is toast and the steering sucks. So an LS is in its future. I picked up a 99 Explorer axle and a Fatman Fabs IFS. It's a South Dakota truck and has virtually no rust, just dings and cracks from driving in the fields. Just so you know, I see survivor trucks from the 50's and 60's as daily drivers all the time around here.

Used to eat at that Martin's all the time when I worked dayshift. Now that I am retired, I don't get up early enough for breakfast. But they did just open a new one down the street on Dallas Hwy. Love the videos by the way. Sold my 65 GMC (V6) now working on a 77 F100 (needs a coyote) and have a 73 Nova that I want to Ls swap

I owned a 1979 GMC SHORT STEPSIDE and a short box I had the most fun driving those truck's and I didn't baby them either. Then i built a 1972 GMC Suburban still own that one for over 20 year's .

this is so cool to see man im 21 and just picked up a single cab gmc sierra grande single cab rust free short bed th bed has zero dings and truck only has 62k original miles has the good ol 350 and 700 trans still needs some work but drives and everything love your channel also i own a driveline shop in california if you need any drivlines made

We've done quite a few episodes on lowering a c10 but haven't exactly done it on a squarebody. But we will.
Awesome video! Quick question... what is the size of the trailer you were using?
It's a 20' steel deck with removable fenders, stake loops around the outer rim, and D-Hooks mounted to floor. 3500lb axles. It's a dream. We used to have a 16' wood floor deck and this one pulls so much better!

Just went to Bremen Georgia to pick up an all original 1985 c10 in Great condition (and actually have a tittle for it, if you from there you know how hard it is to get a tittle there) drove it 12 hours none stop to Houston Texas ... I do got to say Georgia has some of the cleanest C10s around...
Man, that's awesome that you came here and bought it then drove it home. If you bought it here without a title, you will have to check your state's laws to determine what documentation you will need to retrieve a title in TX, if you can at all. GA is a non-title state so you can simply register a vehicle here without a title.

I bought the truck from a shop called Big O Street Rods from Ken and I did get lucky with a title I would not have wasted my time because in Texas it would of been worth next to nothing with out it! I'm in love how clean Georgia keeps there trucks (here 8 outta 10 they have cancer "rust" becuase we are so close to the gulf of Mexico... Love the channel and content KEEP UP THE GREAT CONTENT, BUD 👍🏼

Idea for a project..... Modern interior in a square body! I've seen it done on older Chevelle's, but not a truck
Tell you what else would be cool. A couple weeks ago on Dennis Gage's My Classic Car, some dude took a 2016 Silverado and re-skinned it in '67-'72 sheetmetal. You almost couldn't tell except for the upper part of the cab.
Now why not do it in '73-'80 and '81-'87 squares too.

We just help each other out like we would anyone else. Pecos has 245/45/20 on front and 275/40 or 45/20 on rear.
Was the drop a 3/5 on Pecos?The red chevy in the other video with the 5/7 was sweet.

Yeah I saw it in the video. A buddy of mine was at Battle in Bama, he has a K20 White crew cab. He swapped a diesel into it, it’s sit on 40’s with some custom wheels.
I have a 1978 GMC C15 looking to purchase similar wheels. I know the size wheels your running but by chance do you know what's the back spacing specs? I'm trying to orders rims but they keep telling me there are different back spacing.
The wheels that are on this truck are American Racing TTIIs and are off-the-shelf backspacing - 4.5 on 20x8 on front and 5.75 on 20x10 in rear.

i got a 79 full option short wide 4x4 for free but have u ever seen a grill that is plastic with chrome bars across the front of grill from the factory i have never seen one and have had a lot of these trucks right now i have 8 just sitting and the grill is on the option sticker in the glove box as a all metal chrome grill
Rebuilding my great grand fathers 76 GMC. The thing is a rust bucket with lost of holes plus has front end damage. What's a good place to start for good body parts a good price or should I have a welder work it over?

Whenever you can buy used, but OEM body panels or even a frame if you need it, that's what you should do.

Well, most work for it and/or wheel -n- deal to make it happen. Really cool that you have the same truck. Supposedly this one has a hurt motor so Ron wants to upgrade to the power and reliability of an LS. He's working hard to get it done and doing every single bit of the build/install as he can.

what u want is the diesel witch has the Cadillac suspension to start with i have one that i put a 68 442 olds rocket in it sold it after 15 years they blew the motor in it then i got it back for free still have it but putting the body on some thing else so i have frame suspension drive train motor still good to rebuild 400 turbo in it with the long box on it all in perfect condition but the motor not a dig in the box trade for chevy parts like an all metal cowl induction hood for a 68 chevy pu

I showed my youngest son this video this morning.
He says that he is ready for the truck farm dance off . I guess if nothing else, since you and I apparently are not qualified to be dancers at least we can say that we know some. I am only hoping that Griffin is as qualified at operating the camera as Jackson is, that would definitely be an advantage if we go ahead with a channel on our build.

@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Not in a square body. Personally I'd go with a 383 stroker. More bang for the buck and more reliable than the 5.3. I'm going completely off the rails with a Deetroit 4-53T swap in my 84 M1008/ K30 one ton.
