2016 Toyota Corolla Review - Three Things You Never Knew
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 лип 2024
- The Toyota Corolla is one of the best-selling and best all-around compact sedans on the market today. That's really nothing new considering it's been around for nearly 50 years. Currently in its 11th generation, the Corolla was last redesigned in 2013. Power comes from a capable 1.8-liter inline-four with a total of 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque.
Our test car came with a CVT, but you can also opt for a six-speed manual on the base and 'Sport' models (a four-speed automatic is also available on the base). But how much do you really know the Corolla?
Check out our walk around video where we also discuss three very interesting Corolla facts you'll want to know.

Trust me , you don’t want a turbo engine. It’ll be more maintenance than it should be. The N/A 1.8 is perfect
wedner calix what the n/a stands for?
Bernal A really? Naturally Aspirated which means no turbo/super charger etc.
Dumb kids add turbo add this ok...maybe I don't want an engine rebuild every 120 thousand
Toyota doesn't make "cheap" cars unlike the Mitsubishi Mirage and other American manufacturers. They know Americans don't want a car that has cheap plastics inside or an interior that will fall apart after a few years. Toyota is known for their good build quality and legendary reliabilty
It’s good u say that cuz honestly Toyota Corolla is a nice fucking car lmao
A lot are made in America, like mine
Corolla is very fast for what it is. Engine isn't terrible. I love it.
Toyota refreshed the Corolla for 2017, adding a safety sense package standard across the board which includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Control and Automatic High Beams. They also had 50th anniversary edition for 2017 and the CVT transmission is now standard
More reason to get a 16, or older. All that added stuff is total Crap. Too big of a pain to turn that junk off everytime you get in the car.

Just bought my Toyota Corolla 2016 LE exactly the same as in this video.Very happy with my choice.
Corolla cars are the best my last one had 228000 + was still working when I traded it lol
Vyacheslav Teimurazov hows the stereo screen holding up? I head of some the touchscreen not working on the bottom right corner
@@angelbabyquinn Does it make noises when you go over a speed bump? Taking a tight turn? Try to describe the noise and how it happens.
Just got a Toyota certified used 2016 Corolla LE with 33k miles on it. Huge upgrade from my '99 dodge intrepid lol
I wanna get this in a few months!!
@@angelbabyquinn is it the sport model
Great review
Just bought My Toyota Corolla exactly the same model & colour..its a great Japanese car very reliable & powerful.
How many miles is it still running?
Rev up your engines
Hulk Ster haha Scotty
Nice video. I hope to look up some of your other videos. Compared to some of the other reviewers, you don't have a robotic, "scripted" delivery. You don't grate on my ears like Saabkyle or Cameron cars reviews. Hek, even the Fast Car lane, I find them a little tough to enjoy. So awesome job!
Thanks for the compliment, Joe! I really enjoy doing these reviews and I'm glad you're finding them useful. I have some great reviews coming up so stay tuned!
get straight to the point of your title.. dude..
Overall the Corolla is safe, economical, reliable, roomy and affordable. Negatives are underpowered engine, poor handling and no Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.
I just got mines love it I'm a former Ford user I never go back Toyota is all that n a bag of chips love it love it
I wish Toyota had valet security on these things for instance having a completely different key or a plastic credit card key for just the ignition, locks for the 6040 receipts so there is no access to the trunk and a by directional lock for the trunk so we cannot be open except with the master key
The rear L+R headrests don't adjust or come out...blocking the rear view window!
I would never get a Turbo they put too much stress on the engine and then they don't last as long. That is the main thing that makes it a reliable car is that the are natural aspirated. This model the 2016 has plenty of power I can over take any car with mine and I have no issues going up hill there is no lag. Toyotas are great cars because the company knows its products and make them better a little at a time until they have a perfect product and they learn from their mistakes.
Turbos can be less than optimal but I wish toyota had an engine similar to the mazda 2.5.
I think the Automatic transmission is better reliable than CVT transmission
Power seats would be over doing it in this class just a Tad. I don't know why more power would be expected with its intended purpose? Gas mileage is where this car could use an "update". It's not the best in terms of fuel economy. I recently got a quote for a mid level LE for $15k.
Mommy Dearest higher trims of Civics, Corolla, Sentra.. came with power seats? Never seen that. Now, Camrys or Impalas, sure. Different class.
I want to see our Corolla and need to know the blue book price. It has 62,000 miles on it.
is cvt better or manual for reliability? Looking to keep it for as long as possible. so thinking long run
Sunny Dhillon manual
Manual or the L model with a automatic transmission. The CVT's can be problematic if you don't know how to drive them. Plenty of information online about Toyota's CVT's
Don’t listen to the guy above. The 4 speed auto is absolutely sluggish and shifts like a granny. Toyotas CVT is better than other companies even if it’s not perfect.
132 horsepower from a car that only weighs 2700 lb is excellent but I would like to see is independent suspension in the rear and 4 wheel disc brakes and I wish mine had a stick manual transmission
I have a 2016 leg and I like it. Anything I should do to it
Is the Corolla still the best all-round small sedan on the market?
if you care about the price this is the best bang for the buck
I can comfortably say it is the most reliable.
The American Best Selling Car For 2016 is, 1.Toyota Camry, 2.Honda Civic, 3. Toyota Corolla, 4. Nissan Altima, 5. Honda Accord
That is the name of the game RELIABLE well made cars.
@@santosrios66 best selling doesn't mean best overall.
This is the best you can get for your money. Maintaining the Corolla is not only extremely affordable but they require maintenance less frequently than Honda's. Honda's suck as they fall apart after 4 years
What are the 3 things? The video doesn't clearly state them.
It could use another 5 mpg city and 8 highway.
I never liked thinking about ownership cost as a selling point. Either way you’re going to spend some money on up keep, gas and repairs
Less frequent maintenance and overall less cost for maintenance isn't a hole in your wallet
Are you high? who compare the C7 stingray to corolla?
Why do people pay 29k to keep a car up for 5 years? My Lord. Over 5 grand a year to gas and keep Up? That sounds like Ton!
Thats for every car.
I’m not sure where that absurd number is coming from. I put 80,000 miles on my 2016 corolla. All I’ve needed were oil changes, brakes, and a CVT drain and fill. 37.8 MPG AVG
Tak Sway just keep the car. Get some value out of it.
After how long did you change the cvt fluid?
I’m looking at a 2016 Corolla with a cvt... should I be concerned about the cvt? How long do they last before they start to give problems
The CVTs made by Toyota/Aisin are very robust, just do a fluid change at the dealer every 60k miles and it'll last. I have a 2016 Corolla with 70k miles and it runs and shifts silky smooth. Just make sure the car is at a full stop before selecting park, drive or reverse, also oil and oil filter changes every 5k miles ALWAYS.
Good car but don’t change your CVT fluid with the factory fluid every 60 to 70,000 miles and see what happens
After how many miles to change cvt fluid?
I’m about to change mine at 70 and I have a 2018 do you think in your opinion that will be just fine I know how to change it correctly I just need to have some assurance I feel guilty for not changing it at 60 I just could not afford it at the time that fluid is $100 for one can and I know I’m gonna need more than one after draining the bypass also..
Does the ownership cost include the vehicle cost?
No.
Owner's cost? idk. Fuel and maintenance? Does it include insurance?
Just got a 2017.
How many miles is it still running?
Stay away from the turbo, they will cost you money over time.
You mean the s?
@@jesussaquin6266 the s is naturally aspirated
@@JecuskyGarrett wot??
The new 2021s have a 2.0 L however if it gets on my list in the Prius per gallon more powerful and it’s a hatchback it’s excellent
The new Civic is turbo yey!
It is also direct injected yey!
It builds up carbon and has oil dilution yeey!
All you Gotta do is buy a catch can yay
@@southernberean8166 a catchcan wont save your engine from neither of those, friend of mine had 2 catchcans on his and when we took the intake apart... oh god
You are a little off on your mpg. I have a 2016 le eco plus on highway delivers 34 max
Do you use cruise control?
Exactly I have base model 2018 I average 40mpg on highway doing 80
compare it with the toyota corolla altis grande in my country looks way better than the honda civic pakistan but 2017 ok
I found an excellent deal on a 2016 corolla LE that I want sooooooooo bad...😩 this video is torturing me that I can’t get it
What was the deal?
What's the mpg?
Toyota are smart because toyota no they'll make money selling the same motor that will last forever. Just to say i bet in the next 4 to 5 years the corolla will be a nice car cause you guys are for getting the corolla ae86 and there will be another ae86 soon.
all driving training schools use only toy coralla hands down. go to you local Dept of Motor Vehicle testing site and we of driving insrtucters use only toy corollas never civics never civics because toy corollas are the best value
collin huey 😶
It’s a good starter car. Believe me, I have one
Peter Jenkins
So is it a 2016 or a 2013??????
DABS139 2016
A stick shift is much faster and the transmission will last longer
I've read that the L models with the gears instead of the CVT (belt style) lasts longer but there is a learning curve with driving a CVT based engine. Basically you don't want to add excessive tension to the "pull" of the car. Found a website online that broke it down
Turbocharger destroys reliabilty. Toyota wouldnt be fameous if they used it in corollas.
So the s version is good?
Toyota Corolla in Asian countries like Pakistan has different body
Why do Corollas in the USA look so lame compared to the ones we have in Asia?
The radio head is total rubbish, mine died 3.5 years
CVT Transmissions are not good , they break, junk,no good
Uhhh uhhh uhhh
No more turbos that's your break down cars break down more parts the breakdown
Stop saying uh
what are those lines on the back end on each side, so damn ugly. looks like something smashed into the side of the car.
Never buy a CVT help me God
Terrible videos! We need videos that cover the engineering aspects if the cars, most channels simply read from the manufacturer brochure, or at least it sounds like that’s what they’re doing.
You annoy and nag about everything 😒
This guy is selling you CVT transmissions
