    Just found your chanel and watched a couple of videos. I love them and your style sooo much. Your style feels so achievable and I can really relate to it. And I mean "achievable" in the most positive way. Many UA-camr's/influencers wardrobe feels so curated and the outfits they show look amazing but in the end are not practical or something I could wear to work or see myself wearing on a day-to-day basis. But the outfit you creat have both "the look" while still being wearable x

    I love how you style your thrift finds. I think it would be interesting to see an updated styling video with past thrift finds. I’m especially interested in those white pants and black linen skirt that you got. But you always have great finds and I’m always interested to see how else you’ve worn your clothes.

    Don't give up on the blue pants, linen stretches with wear. They look lovely and I'm sure if you try them for a day you will see what I mean.

    I love that black linen skirt. Very cute. The pieces did not look like 1950, but they all look great on you.

    Did you film this some time ago? Or, where is it snowing now? I'm just really curious!

    "Cigarette" pants were really popular in the 1950s - very skinny legs, not wide leg. "Slip" dresses were worn as slips, not dresses.

    • @RebeccaWoodsChannel
      @RebeccaWoodsChannel  29 днів тому +1

      True! I did mention tailored capris, essentially cigarette pants. But you can also find a lot of pictures of wide legged pants. I was going with my taste of the options presented 🤍

    • @karengrohs4942
      @karengrohs4942 29 днів тому +2

      @@RebeccaWoodsChannel Yes, you did mention slim capris. I lived through the '50s as a child, and I don't really remember women wearing wide leg trousers although you did find pictures. I think they were more common in the '40s (think Katherine Hepburn photos). In fact, most of the women I knew didn't wear pants at all except shorts (in the summer) and jeans -- and only for picnics and camping. It was an interesting video though, as true '50s vintage is not easy to thrift. You did a good job of adapting what you found.

    The floral Belinda "dress" is a nightgown. Girls in your generation have adopted nightgowns as dresses, and since it isn't sheer, why not? In general, anything vintage made of nylon is a nightgown.

    • @RebeccaWoodsChannel
      @RebeccaWoodsChannel  29 днів тому

      Oh I didn’t know it was a night gown! I’m not sure why that didn’t occur to me 😂

    You could’ve gotten some gloves and a dramatic hat. These are not giving 50s but appreciate the effort.

      This is more a how to on how to bring certain hallmarks of 50s fashion into your current wardrobe in 2024. Most of my videos are like that. I’m not doing replica costuming

    Another great haul. U might wanna lower the blue art on wall behind u. It’s cutting u off at the neck. Maybe remove it entirely. It kinda distracts away from u. Miss ur fireplace! That was an amazing backdrop!

    did she, without the least bit of sarcasm, say floral maxidresses wasnt big in the 50s?

    • @RebeccaWoodsChannel
      @RebeccaWoodsChannel  29 днів тому +1

      Floral maxi dresses were big in the 70s. Sure there were floral knee length circle skirt dresses. But not an empire waist maxi dress 🤍
