    Thank you very much, Mike, Kath & Bob. About a couple weeks ago I changed from Thermaltake PURELed 12 Red (3x) and Versa N25 stock rear fan to ARCTIC P12 PST PWM fans. Named 'em "The sounds of silence". Bought the value pack (5x) but didn't change the Gammaxx fan (74,3 CFM Gammaxx fan VS 56.3 CFM of P12). BTW: GTX 1060 temps are same. HDD's reduced temps in 4ºC.

    Use the stand alone PCCooler hub which runs around $18. Have had to build a few systems for customers who bought this brand , the included hubs usually work no problems. However when adding in more the larger stand alone hub gives zero faults, at least from what I've built.

    I've been custom daisy chaining my fans and the reason why the splitter only has the first fan ("master fan") with 4 pins connected and the other ("slave fans") are 3 pin only is because 4 pin PWM has [+ pin] [- pin] [sense pin] and [control pin], all off them are connected in parallel but the [sense pin] wich is used to comunicate back the "status" of the fan, that's why 1 pin is enough to tell the motherboard how fast a fan is running (only if the fans are the same since control pin will send the same data to all the slave fans so they all move at the same speed) and also if you connect all sense pins together you'll have errors having 4 fans yelling different readings to the motherboard since it can only read 1 fan anyway

    The fan splitter cable is only 3 wires for the rest of 4 fans is because it doesn't need sense/tach return which it already connected to the first fan 3rd pin on the connector. The 4th wires is for the PWM which is connected to the rest of 4 fan connector. I think he either got a bad set or didn't connect the PWM wire to the MB and or bad splitter cable.
    So to explain this much clearer for viewers.
    Connector pin 1,2,3,4 coming out of the controller to the 1st fan connector all 4 wires than the rest daisy chain only 3 wires in this order 1,2,4 they skip 3.
    Wiring diagram
    1,2 - 12vdc / Ground
    3 - Sense or tach
    4 - PWM
    The reason they skip 3rd wire for the rest of 4 fans is that if the 1st fan for example running 1500RPM the rest will be the same since it daisy chain. The 4th wires is required to control fan speed so it on all 5 connectors.

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  3 роки тому

      think the cable was bad to be honest or maybe the controller, not a good design overall compared with others we have looked at

    • @sergiomarikina7237
      @sergiomarikina7237 2 роки тому

      yeah 3rd pin there is just to sense the speed of fan , 4th pin is the control of the speed from mobo or from remote/hub, 3rd pin is just the feedback to mobo to give info that this the speed of the fan, mobo only need 1 wire with 4pins for speed checking and the rest are 3pins coz they all have the same pwm value since it’s daisy chain,
      i was using the hub of these 5 n 1 fans before and it is working just fine
      there is a 4pin(for 12v) and 3pin(5v) slot in the hub that you can to connect to mb for control, or you can also left them hanging(no connection) and use the remote low mid high button, maybe you got a defective hub mate

  • @sergiomarikina7237
    @sergiomarikina7237 2 роки тому +1

    this is my current case fans, i bought 5n1 and additional 1 fan and it is working just fine it blows more air at a cheaper price than my CM fans(used as cpu air cooler), i plugged it in my id cooling hub, i removed the sleeve of the wire btw so that i can seperate the pwm and rgb wires of the fan for proper cable management,
    before the id cooling hub i used the included pc cooler hub and the low mid and high fan speed are working just fine, maybe you just got a defective one.
    the only reason i replaced the pccooler hub to id cooling ha-02 is that the pc cooler hub is not compatible with my CM mf120 halo fans, 1/8 portion of the fan LED didnt work

    So, I just bought the identical fan pack, it's the PCCooler halo frgb 3in1 pack. It does have the same problem which the power splitter that have 4 pin is only connected to one connector only and the other 2 connector only connected with 3 pin. At first I thought this is just a defect but when I checked again on the manual instructions it does telling you that it should be like that. There's a small diagram picture of the each connector pin, and only 1 of 3 connector shows with 4 pin. It's really a bummer for me knowing this problem when I've already bought it. Maybe I'll find another power splitter or I'll just connect it to fan chassis pin connector since it only have 1 PWM fan that actually works.

    Ive used pccooler fans before in my old system but those were static one color. But i must say this kit is just all kinds of confusion. Would really not recommend to anyone especially new comers to the diy hobby.

      yeah not a good set there, the fans are decent but let down by the control hardware

    Totally unnecessary confusion with the wiring! Why don’t the cheaper fans do away with hubs and wire on regular plugs?

      depends what you want and what connections you have on the board, but the uphere fans are good, bought a few sets of those and the corsair sp120 3 pack is also a good choice

    I have the same fan and they have been in my system for more than 2 years now and I do not have that issue with the hub. Probably a defective hub in your case. I really like them and its sad that yours had some issues.

    Thx for that video I´m searching for 2 fans with much better airflow as the Arctic F12 Silent at 800rpm with 62.9 m³/h. But these are runnung at 1800rpm and with 800rpm they are only have a flow of 41,16 m³/h and at 900rpm only 46,30 m³/h. And for nearly 40€ thats only throw away money and junk.
    For me its allways so damn hypocritical when nearly all say wow have these fans a damn airflow (like damn Noctua), but these idiots forget allways yes at max rpm. But no one on earth can tell me sitting at a pc with full speed fans.
