Did a quick search on Taobao, turns out they have many versions of this fan. There's: single-sided single-color DC (¥25, $3.6) single-sided single-color PWM (¥35, $5.1) double-sided static RGB PWM (¥39, $5.7) double-sided revolving pattern RGB PWM (¥49, $7.1) single-sided customizable RGB PWM (¥49, $7.1) double-sided customizable RGB PWM (¥59, $8.6, the one in this video). And it seems like the only difference between those versions is the lighting. The actual fan is identical. To people who don't really give a F about lighting (which, I suppose is quite a large number of people), the $5.1 basic PWM option looks like it would be a real killer. Of course I would expect a ~50% markup on top of Taobao's local pricing, but at ~$8 a piece for a close-to-Noctua performance, man would that be some great value. It's a shame that they only sell those domestically at the moment.
Just finished my first build and got these after watching this vid and a little extra research. Couldn't be more pleased. Quiet, nice build quality, really good airflow, and as a bonus I think the thin RGB is elegant. Thanks a ton for the video.
Aye. I feel your pain. Cost of fans: $35.99 Cost of Shipping & Import Fees: + $33.34 Ouch! Better prices on eBay tough, but the shipping and handling fees eat up a lot of the budget part. I like the fans though. Seems like a good buy, if you live in the US.

BE CAREFUL BUYING THESE! Bought these fans few weeks ago, I don't know whether I've gotten a bad batch or something else perhaps (bought the 5 pack with 1 extra to fill in space in case), but every single one of the fans makes very noticeable revving noise coming from the motor housing. The fans only go as low as 1100RPM~ up to around 1900RPM~. At their lowest speed, the sound is bearable however turning it up at anything higher (such as using the presets on the remote provided with the 5 pack), makes them sound like a miniature jet engine. Whoever claims these are quiet either listens to everything at high ambient noise level or is tone deaf, or must have received an entirely different batch that may indeed be quiet somehow through witchcraft. I compared these to multiple fans I have used previously (including Arctic F12, Bequiet Pure Wings 2, stock Zalman case fans), and these are by far the loudest I've tested at medium-max speeds. They do have great RGB lighting however and have had no issue connecting them and using with Asus Armoury Crate. If the amount of air they push at low speeds is good enough, then I'd say they're worth it, however beware of reviews, they are certainly very loud at higher RPMs. Not ideal for a PC sitting 30-50cm from the user at least.

No offence to Kyle, but I dont think 10 minutes were nearly long enough to heat soak that radiator so the temps would have been the same no matter what fans you put there. @@prescottmajette5290 Lovely stance, now. Concider this, there are people that want a good looking pc! Nothing against noctua's quality and performance, but they are just ugly. You might sacrifice a little when it comes to quality, but if they die after 10 years, just replace them. They were just over half the price of a noctua to begin with, so if they die after 50% the time you paid a low price for rgb.
1 year user update I picked up these fans when this video was published. I've got 5 in my build and they haven't given me a single reason to replace them. Still going strong for anyone who is interested.
Bought these in 2020 for 40$ USD. Still worth every penny. Looking super good. Might slap two of them on a radiator if I switch out my stock Wraith Prism for an AIO eventually.
Ill say it again, I am in love with the channel.. you could say, I am a "fan" too! I had some cheapo AIGO fans that had the exact issues you mentioned here and I have been shopping around all day for some...i checked your channel and BOOM! You blew me away :D
Then again, you get two of them for the price of one noctua... And just because it is Chinese doesnt mean it must be of bad quality. All components are in the end made in China. Also, look at Huawei and Oppo in the phone market. Wasnt OnePlus also chinese? Take for example thr surface tablet clones from Chuwi. They have worse build quality on chassi, and lower speced cpus, but the most important thing for viewing it is the screen, and it is as good as a surface for a fraction of the price of a surface. Why? Because they use the exact same panel as the surface. So as for normal casual tasks you could get the same experience as with a surface (if the touchscreen were as good....) on a budget.
The thing about Noctua is they have amazing customer service. You could have a cooler and use it on 10 motherboards, and they will send you the brackets for the mounts for free every time.
PCCooler GI-D66A Dual 120mm RGB SIX-Pipe (nickel plated) CPU cooler for about $70 on AliExpress. Just installed this on an LGA-2011 Asus P9X79Pro with Xeon E5-1650V2, replacing a CoolerMaster 4 pipe Hyper 412S. BIG difference. Much better cooling performance with the PCCooler GI-D66A. I run this CPU at 4.4Ghz (could go higher but I have opted for 4.4) and under stress it keeps the core temps no higher than 71 Celsius. Under normal use it beats the CoolerMaster by about 6 degrees. This new air cooler even has an attractive RGB top plate! PCCooler seems to produce some pretty damn good products for the money, IMO.
Most chines computer fans used hydraulic bearing which doesn't last as long vs ball bearings or magnetic. So they don't last as long. And because hydraulic bearing have oil inside they are prone to dust and sometime with enough dust it is going to cause the fan to spin slower.
I was looking for new fans and your video convinced me to order the 5-pack. After a month they finally arrived and I'm very happy with the looks and performance. The hub support both 5v argb and 12v rgb. Thanks for your review!

Molex advantages: --Old and reliable standard. --The wires are usually separate, which means you can flatten them into a ribbon or bunch them into a sleeve to help with cable management. --The connectors can be twisted around 180 degrees fairly easily in case whatever you are plugging in does not have its power plug in the expected orientation. SATA disadvantages: --Usually ribbon cables, which are a pain to work with and cable manage. --Thick wires and a thin connector means a lot of strain on drive connectors if you have to twist the cable to plug it in. --Cheaper SATA power cables are just pins that were stuck in an injection mold machine and covered in plastic. The wires move around during the molding and they can end up touching, which is bad if the plastic temp is too high and damages the insulation. There have been some fires because of this. --More expensive SATA power cables use a connector that separates the wires and stakes a pin through the insulation to make a connection. It's more reliable, but you end up with an inflexible, T-shaped connection once you plug a device into the connector. It can make cable managing little hubs and things difficult. So...I hope Molex sticks around. :)

Only at load do I actually hear any fan noise. Super happy, the RGB looks great. Fully Addressable.
My NZXT H510 Is dark and the components are blacked out. I decided to look for a couple RGB fans just to brighten up my case a bit. Not all funky looking like a carnival like others I've seen.Found these and they are perfect and look menacing with just enough lighting to accent the dark innards of dark case.
I purchased a 5 pack of these recently, the 5 pack came with SATA power and the fans had a 4 pin connector for the fan, but the rgb plug from fan to hub was a 4 pin version of the 3 pin plug seen here at the timestamp: 4:20. The connector for the hub to the motherboard is still the same 3 pin plug for 5V rgb. All in all, at least the 5 pack, if not the current version, has addressed a lot of his comments in this video. I use a 5V rgb connector for MSI, no idea about the 12V adapters performance.
You used the wrong Noctuas. The letter before the number is the type of Noctua fan. And the only type you should ever use for anything at all is A. So NF-A12, NF-A14
They’re 60 bucks on Amazon now, they have upgraded the power port to sata. And from the looks of the instructions you can connect it to Asus or the other motherboard I think MSI directly from its own little junction box now. I just got done installing it on my desktop that I’m currently waiting on parts for it to completely rebuild. Noise wise they are very good and the color is definitely good, I am very impressed with these.
I got these fans delivered just today and was so excited to install them in. Turns out my gigabyte z170-sli doesn't have a VGD header and I don't have a molex connectoe on my power supply. So that really blew.
Had these exact fans for a little over a year still running like new came from the be quiet brand fan very similar reason I switched one side was similar to that fan. The other side of the be quiet had thicker RGB so with exhaust and intake it did not match, but still liked the thin ring found these couldn’t be happier, best fan for the price without a doubt in my opinion which really doesn’t matter but for 100 bucks for the nine fans I needed could not go wrong even if they lasted 2 to 3 years
I bought other fans that do the job and it was a set of 6 fans + the controller for about 42$. Much cheaper than these, but these are definitely better quality.
The reason for the divots in the blades is allegedly to allow the blade to cut through the air easier. They use it in HVAC fans now for the last 4 years or so.
You got me with those... I bought them after see this video, and had to bought them from amazon USA because they don't sell the kit on Amazon ES. And after mount them.. they are louder than the Phanteks p400s stock case fans... but really louder! And just on idle! And the rgb controller connectors are really crap! double-sided static RGB PWM (¥39, $5.7)
double-sided revolving pattern RGB PWM (¥49, $7.1)
single-sided customizable RGB PWM (¥49, $7.1)
double-sided customizable RGB PWM (¥59, $8.6, the one in this video).
And it seems like the only difference between those versions is the lighting. The actual fan is identical. To people who don't really give a F about lighting (which, I suppose is quite a large number of people), the $5.1 basic PWM option looks like it would be a real killer. these are realllllllly nice. Too bad, I just opened $40 worth of Noctua's a few hours ago.
So you bought one fan

And a PWM splitter. came out to around $37
Just because they look good on paper, doesn't mean they will last.
@@pixel_vengeur391 you mean just the blades
I have to say, I have became a huge fan over the past months of watching your channel.
Noctua isn't just silent, it's also quality. I don't think cheap fans will last as long.
Exactly ! , I've had my Noctua fans for 10 years now , still running strong without any weird noise !
If you want rgb or solid led you can't go noctua.
@@HAWX4 if you want rgb instead of quality, well thats your fault
@@prescottmajette5290 Lovely stance, now. Concider this, there are people that want a good looking pc! Nothing against noctua's quality and performance, but they are just ugly. You might sacrifice a little when it comes to quality, but if they die after 10 years, just replace them. They were just over half the price of a noctua to begin with, so if they die after 50% the time you paid a low price for rgb.
Cheap is not the problem, quality is.
1 year user update
I picked up these fans when this video was published. I've got 5 in my build and they haven't given me a single reason to replace them. Still going strong for anyone who is interested.
when corona referred only the beer .... the good old days now corona isn't a thing to joke about
Him: Corona, no offence to the Mexican beer company.
Me: watching in 2020😔😷😷
The 3-pack goes for $77 on ebay o.0
...BUT you can find the single fan for around $13.50
Viewer: You can’t expect anyone to watch a video over 10 minutes about case fans.
Bitwit: observe
Bought these in 2020 for 40$ USD. Still worth every penny. Looking super good. Might slap two of them on a radiator if I switch out my stock Wraith Prism for an AIO eventually.
Ill say it again, I am in love with the channel.. you could say, I am a "fan" too! I had some cheapo AIGO fans that had the exact issues you mentioned here and I have been shopping around all day for some...i checked your channel and BOOM! You blew me away :D
Been using 3 of these for about a year and they work great.
@@xsp1522 yes I'm gonna send back fans that have lasted over a year and paid $10 each for...
Poor Kyle, becoming a fan... You will be missed.
The thing about Noctua is they have amazing customer service. You could have a cooler and use it on 10 motherboards, and they will send you the brackets for the mounts for free every time.
ShiroiKage009 fans don’t normally come with brackets buddy. These aren’t comparable products
Sir? Why is this unlisted?
edit: oh its back
very cool, your review just blew me away and made me a big fan!
2:08 are you sure THAT'S why they used to call you rainman? :P
I was looking for new fans and your video convinced me to order the 5-pack. After a month they finally arrived and I'm very happy with the looks and performance. The hub support both 5v argb and 12v rgb. Thanks for your review!
Buyer beware!! They raised their price!!! Even on eBay this same kit NOW retailers for 77.00. Thanks Kyle!! Once again you have proven that your opinion has clout and can change the world!! Amend this review, it is no longer accurate. 🎉🎉 :) love you!!
Molex on PC is actually like micro-USB on smartphones.
@MusicMakerGuy USB-C is still better than micro and mini-USB, and that's a fact (:
@@Krafting no duh
Molex is for IDE power. Its like that OG iphone charger
Makes that modular cable useful. I appreciate that...
Molex advantages:
--Old and reliable standard.
--The wires are usually separate, which means you can flatten them into a ribbon or bunch them into a sleeve to help with cable management.
--The connectors can be twisted around 180 degrees fairly easily in case whatever you are plugging in does not have its power plug in the expected orientation.
SATA disadvantages:
--Usually ribbon cables, which are a pain to work with and cable manage.

New to your channel, and I'm already a HUGE FAN! (fan pun executed to perfection) I'm looking at upgrading my gaming rig marginally, and your videos are a big help to my research. I'm a husband and father of 2 little ones, so I really appreciate the budget friendly advice that you include in your testing. Thank You
I am jealous of you. You've got such cool fans. They are a little flashy, but it's much better than loud fans that blow. Those Chinese fans are great too.
when listening to the fan sound i could only hear my pc
yep i need new fans
I bought these fans for my new build, I never though the proper fans could make such a big difference.
@@erubielalanis6658 how are they? I just built my first build and got Cooler Master mf 120 and they sound like a jet engine at full speed.. I thought I did enough research but i guess not. Do you know any fans that have good rgb, airflow and arent too loud?
@@Dmcjixjdndncnc I couldn't be happier with these fans, great airflow, super quiet, RGB is just enough. I have 6 of them in a NXZT 510 case. 4 as case fans and 2 on a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition Cpu cooler. After tuning the fan curve with my Motherboard software I can't tell the pc is on. Only at load do I actually hear any fan noise. Super happy, the RGB looks great. Fully Addressable.
Fans are nice and cheap now. Wait 5 days after manufacturer sees this review and BAM!! Price goes up 30% haha
And bam his link goes to blue led non rgb models ooof
Your tweet succeeded in drawing me in. 😅
I saw them on Aliexpress some time ago and I was wondering if I should buy them, but now that I watched the review... I already bought other fans :(
I saw them on Joom and bought them, not regretting it :p
*Noctua* was slain by *Chinese RGB Fans*
@Nope9880 Proietti lmao
@Nope9880 Proietti you just killed my remaining brain cells
That's cool af, i just wish there would be a fan that would glow like rgb strip but costs 2$
Surprised these fans didn’t go viral
Just put these in today becuase I needed some more cooling (case only had 2 fans). Thanks for the review!!
Time for a drinks themed build/ Coffeelake CPU, Corona fans...
You used the wrong Noctuas. The letter before the number is the type of Noctua fan. And the only type you should ever use for anything at all is A. So NF-A12, NF-A14
Is he really using the the inustrial fans to compare a 'Noctua Killer'?
Dang son. Wish I would’ve known there’s no way to convert the 3 pin into my 4pin jrgb1 motherboard.. stuck with this controller now.
There is a way. Search deepcool argb converter
Hmmm...i found molex to sata adapters in an old PC (2007). I am sure you could have found an adapter real cheap on ebay or Amazon by now.
I used to be a fan...
But now I’m an RGB cooler.
Don't worry after this video these fans won't be cheap anymore
true they cost 88 now

Not all Chinese products are bad. Also I’m made in China

The best fan pun: Wait is that really you?! You're so *cool* ! I'm a *huge fan*
Had these exact fans for a little over a year still running like new came from the be quiet brand fan very similar reason I switched one side was similar to that fan. The other side of the be quiet had thicker RGB so with exhaust and intake it did not match, but still liked the thin ring found these couldn’t be happier, best fan for the price without a doubt in my opinion which really doesn’t matter but for 100 bucks for the nine fans I needed could not go wrong even if they lasted 2 to 3 years
Kyle isn't satisfied with his old fans(us) :(
This got me😂
THE PRICES OF THESE FANS HAVE TRIPLED DA FUQ
it's a 3 pack
Those puns will never stop! 😂
I bought other fans that do the job and it was a set of 6 fans + the controller for about 42$. Much cheaper than these, but these are definitely better quality.
Link?
The reason for the divots in the blades is allegedly to allow the blade to cut through the air easier. They use it in HVAC fans now for the last 4 years or so.
Replied on twitter but will also drop it here, would love to see how these fans perform on the NH U12A versus the great stock fans
Lyle would've been perfect for this video...
you guys think lyle is perfect for EVERY video. you're only going to inflate his ego further

Moar Lyle~
I have the Enermax Ring Fans, they look realy similar, but they are not addressable and not pmw controlled..
I think i'm gonna switch...
I had those fans but I replaced them a couple days ago because they sounded like a blender
@LinusFoamTips RF 120?
But really, they disconnect really easy, just putting the finger on them.
Thanks Lyle, I bought a set of these from AliExpress, to replace some three pins, and WOW are they quiet. Again thanks much!!!!
Are they still quiet ?
