@@Xevo234 i was trying to find the other Pokémon to add to Grenigon also. I don’t think the perfect one exists yet but there are some options. When you aren’t investing energy on Drud, I tried a Set-Up sweeper as the 3rd Pokémon line. So 1 Gyarados line is nice option if you go full water energy. 2-stage is fine but a 3-stage would be too inconsistent. A 1 stage water finisher akin Mewtwo Ex or Celebi Ex would be ideal if any are released in the future. (Drud used to be Baby Mewtwo in this Gyarados deck before the update.) Then I tried using Fire+Water Energy. Most of the energy gets used for Gren and Drud, so Centiscortch as the 3rd line really never could get going. Charizard would be similarly unused and also inconsistent. MewEx is a good option but it won’t have enough fuel to get going usually (unless you splash a 3rd color for psychic which seems a little greedy). So if we need another basic for the bench, what can we do? You can use a 1-energy colorless Pokémon as a glue card to smooth early-game inconsistencies like a previous comment mentions. But Drud is our ideal tank, we wanna another Pokémon for our bench. So what benchwarmers can do something while they’re there? All I can think of so far is Porygon (mid and doesn’t affect game much) and a Hypno that sits on the bench and never attacks but has a combined 25% to make the opponent not attack, giving more time late game for Drud hits and Gren chip damage. (I am still currently running the Hypno btw, it is fun). Benchwarmer Pidgeot (not EX) has the highest-rewarding ability late game to quickly end the game with positioning but 3-stage evo is hard to do card-wise and time-wise (u already know Pidgey gonna be at the bottom of the deck + 2 more turns of evo setup lol don’t get greedy). Butterfree (and possibly going full greedlord for a 3rd color just so Butterfree can attack) seems equally greedy but if boom/bust is your style, that will keep your Druddigon out front and alive as long as possible for maximum trollage. Trainer/Support-wise, throw in Potions for additional health (before Butterfree is online) and a Leaf to switch to the 2nd Drud. Gio and Gren really help Drud sweep. 1 Late-game Sabrina can go a long way to checkmate the opponent after Gren has chipped the bench into range of your active attacker. So it sounds like the perfect answer doesn’t exist yet and a future card will be the best fit. But those were my ideas for the time being. Hope this helps 😊
@@TasmanianThunder Honestly, I don't feel like the deck missing a finisher. I like druddigon as a finisher. With some support from trainers and abilities, it does more than enough damage against most decks. I really wish there was a better early game attacker than farfetchd, though. I find that both druddigon and greninja get online very late, and they're not golem or dragonite level powerful to carry, so you really need something to fill the early game. Farfetchd both punishes fast decks (mankey and vulpix specifically), and gets good early chip against big decks. It helps when you're energy screwed, and can come in late game to pick off weakened foes without putting your more valuable cards in the active. It's not druddigon level good, but it fills too many holes to cut imo.
Your comment on stream a while back about Genetic Apex being Series 1/2 was so spot on. This new mini set has added so many new dimensions to explore already!
Greatly appreciate these deck videos as I don't have a lot of time to try and brew myself. Always have a blast trying out the decks you put out, great content as always.
Glad to see the Greninja / Flareon deck on here! I immediately thought of trying it as soon as saw Druddigon, and I’ve been loving how it plays! Feels like a really exciting deck to pilot and I’ve had some big swings with all the little plinks of damage it can do!
I've been a huge fan of the new eggxecutor over the old ex in the celebi deck personally. Its energy cost is actually low when you consider it ramps itself as a basic and usually only needs two energy with serperior
I would love to see you thoughts on mythical slab. Feels like a useful tool in both mewtwo and alakazam decks, helping find the stage 1 and stage 2 mons. You have a better mathematical background, to crunch the numbers of when it’s best to play and not play.
I do think tablet will ultimately be correct in mew2 as long as we have to run kirlia. Mew2 is really a deck focused on maximizing consistency and the only part where this can fall apart is the ralts line no coming together on time. Obviously it can still win without it but it isn’t as consistent and being able to dig a little deeper helps. I do think if we get a card that lets us skip the middle stage this won’t be as much of a problem as there is one less turn to get to gard.
@@robertgroeneveld4847 Mythical Slab makes you look at the top card of your deck (your opponent doesn't know what you have seen). If it is a Psychic pokemon, you draw it. This expansion has been really fun. While I got only one Gyarados ex, I've been having great time with, what is basically, Blastoise ex version of your Gyarados - Vaporeon deck. Differences being cutting Gyarados line and X speed, and replacing them with 1 Squirtle, 2 Wartortle and 2 Blastoise ex. Started with 2 Squirtle in deck, but as I don't want to start a game with one of them on active spot, and haven't had a need for building second Blastoise ex, I've felt 1 Squirtle to be enough. Based on that I wonder, if the Gyarados version too might be more consistent with only Magikarp. While I'm at it, I wonder which version of the deck will be more popular. While I believe Gyarados to be better against Celebi ex, I also believe Blastoise to have better time against Mew ex and some of the classics like Mewtwo ex and Charizard ex, but also some of the decks playing non-ex counters to Celebi. Interested to see what kind of meta the tournaments bring
For the Mew-Alakazam deck i would swap out Kangaskhan for Druddigon that notably takes 1 less cost to retreat (Leaf range without energy investment) and saves u energies for Mew/Alakazam while doing consistent damage back to any opponent who attacks, while Kangaskhan has always frustated me dealing zero damage many times, I always avoid luck based cards as much as possible
I’ve been loving Arbok + the new Tauros. You can combo Arbok into Tauros for a combined 180 damage on an ex Pokemon while also trapping it with the Arbok. Feels a bit energy hungry but when it works it feels very good
One thing i would appreciate as a complete novice builder is when you mention an alternate option to slot in for a given deck that doesnt line up 1 to 1 please explain what else to include to fill out the list. For example in the celebi deck if you swap out eggexcutor for mew ex there are 2 extra card slots leftover, what would you fill those with? Thanks for these videos btw. I used to watch your mtgarena ( rip magic 😢) vids and now you are once again my go to for ptcgp.
So many Mew EX decks and me without the card. Hopefully more cards will smooth out the rigidness of deck building being dependent of certain Pokemon without having equivalent swaps. I think that's one of the biggest frustrations with the game right now.
a bit surprised golem isn't on here, I've been having alot of success with it, it's just a better melmetal. not sure what the best partner for it is yet I've been playing it with aerodactyl EX for the games where I can lock my opponents from evolving if they try to open with something like weezing, exeggutor or starmie but it does require going first and drawing both halves so it may not be optimal over a generic wall pokemon.
I’ve been using the deck some today and I’d say no. Like, it CAN be used, but It won’t be able to attack at all. Kanga accomplishes both having some staying power and damage.
I tried out the gyrados deck and liked it! I think that not playing any copies of misty in it is a mistake. Misty is useful to quickly regain tempo when going first, and can get gyrados online a turn earlier. I played this deck with X-speed replaced with misty, and did find myself paying for eevee retreat cost with leaf, but that wasn't an issue because eevee/vaporeon are usually the only ones who retreat and cost anything to do so. I played against someone who was playing a similar deck, but with 2 misty lol. I wonder if they have the right idea.
If y’all haven’t tried Lilligant in your Celebi deck, I’ve been loving it! 2 energy for 50 damage and you can attach a grass energy to a pokemok on your bench - with serperior, I’ve been trolling and getting like 20 coin flips in total! Nothing like hitting a Pikachu with 800 damage lmao
I'm having a lot of good games with rapidash(genetic apex) + Pidgeot EX. set up an aggressive early attacker and then commit the rest of the energy to setting up the bird to sweep. I'd love to try it with executor EX but alas don't have access to 2.
