Absolutely this. All the churchy people I've known throughout my life were the biggest hypocrites on earth. Even the nice ones who didn't try to force their religions down other people's throats would still do all the things that you're not supposed to do as a christian. ( case in point: a good friend at uni who drank and partied with me, and who would have one night stands frequently). By now if someone says "oh, but he goes to church!" I'll know to give him a wide berth.

Dr. Grande, I think the reason the Watts case caught the zeitgeist and not the Coleman case is because of the Netflix special, the fact their lives were captured on video like a movie from their wedding forward, the strong social media presence and appeal of Shanann and the kids, and lastly, the horrifying manner of the disposal of the remains. The Coleman case has none of these characteristics despite the similarity of the crimes.

It’s interesting to note that often times, one immoral act follows another. As if a person who gets caught up in one evil fantasy usually free falls into another, and then another! It’s like their “moral meter” becomes completely broken - but they themselves broke it!
Dr. Grande, you should do a follow up video on the “other women,” their mental state during and after the crimes and what became of these women!

I was obsessed with the Chris Watts case as soon as I heard about it. Seeing the kids on Shannon's Facebook videos made it seem so real. But the clincher was the detail that Chris gave about killing the girls, how Bella watched him kill her little sister then fought him so hard that she bit right through her tongue. And how he buried his wife face down--and she had a coffin birth. Just the whole thing was so detailed and morbid; it still affects me. 😥

I mean, if we are talking about Christianity, it's not that God needs money, it's that He encourages Christians to be generous with their money. God isn't opposed to wealth at all - because money is neutral. It's actually the love of money that He hates because He wants His followers to be generous with their wealth - to give to the poor, the widow, the orphans, the needy. Use it to bless others in need. Anyone who uses their beliefs - Christianity or not - to gain and hoard wealth for themselves is a heretic.

Thank you dr Grande for having me in knots, laughing (that is, the serious part excluded). I can picture myself on the roof, trying to do a man's work, jumping for every little bird landing next to me. And, I also may have murdered your language, as I am not English speaking! Keep going, you are absolutely precious.

I think the Chris Watts story gets more attention because, from the start, Chris was on camera talking to the press. Shari, his wife, always was filming and posting pictures and videos to social media, including Facebook. So, Chris was live, no pun intended. Also, the horrific nature of the way in which Chris Watts disposed of his wife's and children's bodies was stunning. Coleman had a bogeyman harassing and threatening his family. Watts went with the flow and had no maniacal killer--he never framed the crimes he committed as the work of someone else. But, I give both men a 10 for utter stupidity.

    Hi Dr G,
Have you ever analysed the case of Jeremy Bamber?
He's a guy from the UK who was convicted of killing his parents, sister and her children in the 1980s. He's been very vocal about his innocence this whole time and claims it was a murder/suicide perpetrated by his sister. There's some interesting evidence on both sides.

I think that the watts case got more attention bec Shannan his wife was very much on social media. You could see her and her children in videos, shanann was truly a beautiful soul. I think her kindness to others really shone bright allowing PPL to see her in real life, not just pics. I will honestly never get over the watts case. 😔
