    Just another reason why I side-eye the people who say “But he goes to CHURCH!” Ma’am? So do priests…along with a whole congregation that will cover up their nasty deeds. Going to church doesn’t make anyone a good person.

    • @3leggedsharkkickssurferinballs
      @3leggedsharkkickssurferinballs 3 роки тому +65

      Absolutely this. All the churchy people I've known throughout my life were the biggest hypocrites on earth. Even the nice ones who didn't try to force their religions down other people's throats would still do all the things that you're not supposed to do as a christian. ( case in point: a good friend at uni who drank and partied with me, and who would have one night stands frequently). By now if someone says "oh, but he goes to church!" I'll know to give him a wide berth.

She was all in it for the money and the thrill of a new romance. A few docs on YT about her, but Martina Cole's Lady Killers episode on her is probably the most in depth without being too sensational.

    In both cases, the relationship between the woman and her in-laws was strained. I wonder if that was a psychological factor in the minds of the murderers when justifying their own actions to themselves. The parents were probably trying to support their son in some way, while he ended up killing his own children. What a senseless waste.

    Dr. Grande, I think the reason the Watts case caught the zeitgeist and not the Coleman case is because of the Netflix special, the fact their lives were captured on video like a movie from their wedding forward, the strong social media presence and appeal of Shanann and the kids, and lastly, the horrifying manner of the disposal of the remains. The Coleman case has none of these characteristics despite the similarity of the crimes.

    I vividly remember the Chris Coleman case bc was in a rehab 6 week’s recovering from a stroke and it was big news at the time. As a mother of 5, I was outraged that given an ultimatum by his mistress, he chose murder of his entire family rather than divorce or simply abandoning his family. When is murder the better choice? You actually brought up a point I hadn’t heard before. I thought Chris was devoted to Joyce and her ministry. I didn’t realize he scoffed at her. Fast forward to Chris Watts; I immediately thought of Coleman! The difference is that Coleman actually believes his own lie that he’s innocent. I may be wrong but he won’t admit guilt as long as his parents and brothers are alive bc that would make him the monster he is. Along comes Chris Watts who not only kills his wife and 2 children, but also his unborn son! Additionally I’ve seen footage of his mistress at the Watts home around 6 AM the morning of the murders. She had to have known and got off Scott free! I’m thinking also of Scott Peterson. This is scary how a seemingly happy family can be eliminated once a mistress enters the picture and gives an ultimatum! Many wives and husbands have been murdered for this reason but Chris cases taking out entire families is beyond narcissistic and evil!

    Dear Dr Grande… I’ve been a fan for awhile- I’m a psych nurse and learn so much Fermin you. Thank you! I have followed Chris Watts case for so long - I think from the beginning. It was somehow addicting- and as I hear this case and recognize the many parallels- I wonder why so many of us have followed watts but not this? Maybe the many details and opportunities we had to meet All of the family - ugh seeing the many videos available on the family- but here- it’s flat- I feel terrible for his little boys and for the x wife- but not the same attachment to the situation. Why is that we are so invested in the watts story???

      I mean, if we are talking about Christianity, it's not that God needs money, it's that He encourages Christians to be generous with their money. God isn't opposed to wealth at all - because money is neutral. It's actually the love of money that He hates because He wants His followers to be generous with their wealth - to give to the poor, the widow, the orphans, the needy. Use it to bless others in need. Anyone who uses their beliefs - Christianity or not - to gain and hoard wealth for themselves is a heretic.

    I just noticed the cactus is paper now.
    I also noticed how Dr Grande chucked a bit when he answered his own question of “do I think he was guilty?”
    You’re seriously the best Dr. Grande!
