It's stories like this that reminds me why I decided to never hire anyone on. Taking care of me is enough. A younger man like yourself is a different story. You have the time to build a fleet and then cherry pick any loads you want to take just to get out of the house for a while. My recommendation would be for you to sit down with an attorney and write up yourself an employment contract template that will cover situations where you front money to help an O/O get started working for you. They need to understand that you are NOT a charity and that you hire them to make $$$ off of them. It MUST be a win-win situation where both parties can prosper.
Wow that’s crazy. Watching your videos I believe we live in the same area. I have roughly 11 years driving tractor trailer and I’m looking to get into hotshot on my own. I’m definitely a hard worker and would never treat you that way as the gentleman said in the video. Reach out and send me a message how maybe one day we can work together
Yeah, that's a bad situation. Especially when you have to be on the road. I know my wife can handle stuff when I am on the road. I hope they have good medical coverage, or at least life insurance 😂
Seems to be a lot of people like him. Ran into this a few times when i had my company. Also why i no longer own a company anymore and lease to another company. A lot less Stress
9:53 you don't make any threats towards anyone in business or life. that should cancel all written & verbal contracts in the eyes of the judge. That dude is weird.
wow that is crazy seems like people think money just falls off trees in this business. Now your on the hook for the trailer (technically). It takes a lot of money just to get to the point of being operational some think it is as simple as having a truck and trailer and some straps. hell some are using those vinyl tarps from the Walmart. It is just crazy. Makes me not want to hire anyone. At least it wasn't your truck and trailer that could have really gone bad to real bad especially if you were on haul and had no one to retrieve and finish the haul.
Only hire coachable and dependable individuals. Definitely make sure the agreement is detailed and clear.
Man, I am sorry you’re going through this drama
The EGO is strong here.
Preach 🙏
