    2:40 Mr. P, may I ask a question? Why didn't Bobby differentiate a^2 when he was taking the derivative? I grasped the whole chain-rule, but would you please describe that one to me?

      Because a is not a variable, a is a constant.

      The symbol "a" is being used to represent a constant. It doesn't vary, so when the derivative with respect to r is done, a is treated as a constant.
