What a beautiful thing. I love it! Looks like a very posh precursor of the very ugly paraffin heater my parents had. They made things so beautiful years ago. Great restoration my friend 😀
Thank you so much 😊🤗
You are right , they used to take a lot more pride in the way things like this looked , it was not just functional , it was a piece of furniture and was made to look good while performing its function. Take a look at victorian waterworks in england, they are amazing inside , they took pride even in things like that
@@MrTarmonbarry absolutely. Even the steam engines in ships were a work of art. And only seen by the stokers etc.
I collect old oil lamps. I will expand to oil heaters. That is a beautiful piece. This video wasn't a restoration, it was a recreation of an old piece of history. Great job!
Thank you very much for your comments :)
When I saw the heater and lamp before restoration I couldn’t wait to see the end project I didn’t cheat. I watched the whole video ‘cause I really wanted to see how you did it step by step 👍🏻
Thank you very much :)
Notice how back in the day the detail and ornateness they put into making things. And we're made to last, otherwise you would not have been able to restore it like new.
Things made today do not last, because they are designed not to last that when they break you will have to buy another one. It's all about the money now not quality. 👍
Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments :)
Yes, but cleaning ladies, maids and house wives, in general, had a terrible time... 😂keeping up with the polish...
Actually - it only appears this way because the 5% of everything that was quality-made is the only stuff we see today.
I inherited a standing mixer from my grandmother. It has a glas pitcher.
I'm 52 and it's at least as old as I am, but still works perfectly.
I know that's not as old as the heater, just an example of how durable stuff used to be made.
@@colincampbell767 Exactly, they call it "Survivorship bias".
as I'm Belgian, I can only be extremely pleased with this complete restoration. Again, super job!
Thank you so much. I'm so glad you like it 😊🤗🙏
It is now a very posh stove for living of the grid. WOW. 👍🙌
Thank you very much 😊🤗
Absolutely beautiful! Your diligence, hard work and attention to detail truly paid off. Great restoration.
Thank you so much :)
I'm so glad you didn't drill holes in it and turn it into an electric lamp
No, no, never :)
I don’t understand people when they do that... takes away all the beauty
@@rafaeltorres4728 It would be an easy mod if you just ran the cord through the filler cap and it could be done with no damage to the lamp. But I understand what you are saying. Why change it into a lamp and anybody who wouldn't think about it would ruin it and never be changed back.
idahofur agreed
A wonderful piece of history, thank you for saving it. 🙂
Thank you very much 😊
What a really nice job. Certainly worked hard to get it back to showroom condition, take me back to when I was a child, a long time ago.
Thank you very much :)
You're doing a beautiful job, as always. Also, thank you for choosing a more unique item. I much prefer these vintage and/or uncommon objects. It's much more interesting than the same old tools. Very satisfying project.
Thank you so much. I also prefer to see such rare pieces. :)
That's a really neat old heater/lamp, and nice job restoring it. Haven't seen anything like that before, though here in the states kerosine lamps and heaters were very popular and common antique store finds.
Thank you very much dor your comments :)
It turned out so nice. I absolutely love it. That chimney set you back a few bucks...that thing is big.
Thank you very much :)
I really enjoy your restorations. You’ve done quite a few unique and interesting pieces.
Thank you so much. I also love such rare objects. :)

What a beautiful piece... much respect to the craftsmanship of days gone by...
Thank you very much :)
Beautiful 😍😍😍 and not only for decorative purposes but you showed how it works 👌👌 thank you 😇
Thank you very much for your nice words and appreciation :)
Pure perfection. A piece of art.
Beautiful finish , so pleased you removed the paint from the parrafine reservoir , the brass and copper look great with the black . one thing i might have done differen would be to paint the feet a gold colour to match the brass , but thats just personal choice
Thank you very much David. I agree with you about feet. Something gilded could be done :)
Artistic/functional comments: Beautifully done. This is an impressive piece that really looks great when it is cleaned and polished. Your skills are amazing.... Technically, there was a lot of cringing and dis-belief. Screwdriver blades should be as wide as the screw head, not that narrow little tip you used.... Using an adjustable wrench for a tinsmiths hammer should be illegal. It was painful to watch. Also, using the correct type of old-fashioned rivets would certainly be preferable. BUT..!!! all nit-picking and whining aside - great job with this restoration.....
Your detailed comments and interest made me very happy. Thank you so much. Yours truly...
Lindíssima peca. Valeu a pena a restauracao. Continue fazendo esses videos maravilhosos para nos. Parabens, vá em frente. Um abraco.
Muito obrigado por seus comentários gentis e simpatia :)
simply tasteful an inspired restoration by someone who appreciates things from a bygone era magical my friend does this wonderful heater work well ?
Thank you very much 😊 It collects a lot of heat in the upper part and heats it much more than I expected.
Nice work. I don't think I would have painted the top. It looked enameled and in good repair. But it's not mine, and what do I know? Is the hole in the back of the heater intended for a chimney to vent it to the outdoors?
Thank you. Although I'm not sure exactly, I think the hole in the back is for ventilation.
Very beautiful piece. Lovely.
Thank you 😊
I enjoyed watching it. You did a good job making it look good!
Thank you very much 😊

what a wonderful restoration.. very elegant.. i love it.. ❤️❤️👏👏👏
Thank you very much, Oya :)
Nice job. If you or others use the lamp or lamps like it, I hope a bit of advice from my experience will be of some help.. You will benefit from a more pleasing performance by using a chimney specifically designed for this type of burner and flame spreader. The flame will look and behave very differently whilst emitting more heat and being a lot more economical by burning less wick and/or paraffin/kerosene. Be careful to start the flame low and only raise gradually so the chimney isn't heat shocked. It will crack, it happens a lot. Ensure an even flame all around by charring the top of the wick and using a wick cleaner or alternatively, by running your finger lightly around the top of the wick in one direction until it's level all the way around. Not doing so will result in spikes of flame that will have multiple adverse affects such as not being able to utilise the maximum flame as the flame spikes will shoot out of the chimney and/or create soot and long before the rest of the wick is burning at maximum. When you see sparks flying up the chimney, it means your wick is burning instead of the paraffin. Old wicks do not perform very well. There are still new ones being widely manufactured.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
It turned out very nice👍

Lovely job! And well done for finding a replacement glass fitting for this "lamp" - what were the odds there?! I didn't mind the enamel top either but it looks so pretty now too.
Thank you.
Very nice.. And to take a rusted old thing that most would over look, and return it to being a beautiful useful appliance is good..! Sometimes the hardest thing in what we do, is to have to wait for the paint to dry..😏
Thank you for your comments. I definitely agree, waiting for the paint to dry is one of the most cheesy parts of this job :)
Amazing job you did
Thank you 😊🤗
I have around 13 pcs of old stove and lamp . Hope can can do it like you did

excellent job👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much 😊🤗
I loved it, but two things. 1 what happened to the broken ceramic ring? & 2 I think the top two sections behind the black filigree could have contrasted better, maybe in silver? Thanks, John S.
Thank you. If you are looking for a circular metal piece, I think it's the upper part of the original lamp glass. I did not use it, but I fixed it somewhere in the stove. It can then be used if the original glass is found. I wanted to apply gold leaf to the feet of the stove, but I gave up when I could not see such an ornament in the original photos.
Beautiful restoration!
Where did you find a replacement glass chimney ?
Thank you :) Unfortunately I couldn't find it in the city where I live. (Istanbul) I also ordered a custom made chimney online. It is very difficult to find chimney with a bottom of 8 cm.
Harika ellerine sağlık👍
Nice resto!!
Thank you :)
beautiful job

It's an ok restoration. You really need to step up your paint game!! Between the paint and rivets brought the whole thing down to just ok

Merci beaucoup :)
Beautiful work! Crescent wrench to hammer the edges down?. I guess you use the tool that’s close by.
Thank you. One tool can do more than one :)
This appears to be more heater than lamp? I would suspect the original wicks would have had an higher asbestos content and behaved more like a gas mantle when they burned. It initially burnt pure white but rapidly yellowed with a more prevalent blue flame. Great effort none the less as many of these heaters would have been scrapped in that condition.
Thank you very much for your attention and valuable comments.
Nice job 👍 by the way from where did you get the glass globe for the heater?
Do you find these items and then fix them and sell them or are they your customers you do a good job and if you find them and sell them how much is that stove
I find and restore these objects only with the support of my friends. Objects are generally not mine. I'm not interested in selling for now. Thank you :)
Nice work, a bit rough but nice work; and a nice piece as well
Thank you very much 😊
Beautifully done man! Excellent work as always

Just wondering why you chose to paint the red porcelain top?
The upper part is covered with enamel. But I painted it because I thought it didn't match black. Thank you so much for your comment.

So beautiful, the bullish gas isn’t harmful, where does it come from?
Thank you so much. Paraffin is used as fuel. It is useful to pilgrimage the interior.
I assume that the hole in the back of the top is for an optional chimney pipe fitting - if this was stood on a fireplace, the fire opening bricked up and a hole drilled in alinement with the hole in the back of the light/heater, and a pipe slotted between them - efficient fume extraction, with the fumes drawn up the existing chimney - a kerosene stove. Is the top of the heater part strong enough to support an old/passive/gas heated kettle for making tea/coffee? 😋
Hello. Thank you very much for your comments and information. My guess is that after burning for about 15 minutes, it accumulates enough heat to boil water. You can make a good coffee. :)
So beautiful!
Thank you :)
Absolutely great!
It needs clean fresh K1 kerosene.
